OH 👏 MY 👏 GOSH 👏 Seriously! This book was literally EVERYTHING 😍

Thank you so much @netgalley for this arc, you have no idea how excited I was to get access to this book!

It's been a while since I've had the courage to read @lisajewelluk's books again, and this was the perfect novel to start with.

My love of mystery is always fed when I prop open one of her books, and this one was the best by far! The plot was super different from what she normally writes about, and I didn't hate it. It was super creepy, gave me chills to the point I had to stop reading for a while even though I never wanted to stop reading.

I tried to hold off from finishing as long as I could, but I just couldn't take the suspense anymore 😭 Part 4 was a real brain f***k for me because I was literally thrown off from what I originally thought was happening.

I'm still so impressed by this story, and will be recommending this book 1000% to anyone who is looking for a serious rollercoaster thriller read.

The queen of suspense has done it again! It is undisputed that Lisa Jewell is one of the best writers in the psychological thriller genre. None of this True had me completely hooked through and through. Dark, delicious and devious.
This opens with a prologue. We follow a drunk man stumbling out of a hotel. Then we get a snippet from an article about an upcoming Netflix true crime documentary based on the deaths of three people. Their identities are unknown and forms intrigue immediately. Then we go back in time and meet Joise and Alix. This is a dual narrative book written in first person. The story opens with two women meeting in an upscale Gastropub to celebrate their birthday in Queen’s Park. Josie finds herself drawn to Alix and following a short conversation in the bathroom discovers her podcast and decided to become her boyfriend subject in a new series. Slowly, slowly we start to learn that Josie is not quite as normal as it seemed…
With excerpts from the Netflix documentary this was fast paced, gripping read. The characters were intriguing and I loved the setting of Salusbury road, incidentally where I grew up. Josie is such a complicated and a dark character. I wasn’t sure what to make of her. I devoured this in one day. I do wish however that the ending had been wrapped more neatly as I felt I had some questions and not enough answers. Regardless I did inhale this one and found is creepy and compelling.

None of this is true by Lisa Jewell

Pub Date:
Publisher:Random House UK, Cornerstone,
Genre :

Thanks to Random House UK, Cornerstone, and NetGalley for my copy.

Josie and Alix Summer are birthday twins. Alix has no idea what a devastating impact the seemingly harmless Josie will have on her life.

The portrayal of Josie is excellent. On the surface, she appears unassuming, always dressed in denim and carrying her small dog. The truth is that she is extremely devious and manipulative, and she has a lot of problems.
The other characters are well-developed as well, and there aren't too many of them. The focus is on Josie and Alix's relationship.

The book's format is interesting and provides snippets of information, allowing you to piece together what's going on. There are sections set in 2019, when Josie and Alix first meet, as well as podcast transcripts and the subsequent Netflix documentary.Trying to figure out what the truth is is a real page turner. You will not be let down.

Firstly, I need to collect my jaw from the floor because WHAT have I just read ??!?

The book follows Alix who runs a popular podcast when she runs into Josie a woman claiming she’s on the brink of ‘changing her life’. Throughout the book we learn more about Josie’s life and events leading up to the present time when Alix soon finds herself immersed in her own true crime podcast.

I couldn’t get enough of this book - it is a gripping, page turner that had me immersed from beginning to end. I was so caught up in the characters and the story that will leave me thinking about this book for months after I’ve read it.

This is one of the best books by Lisa Jewell I've read. I literally could not put it down and used every spare moment to indulge in the psychological drama playing out in front of my eyes. It felt like I was binging a Netflix series instead of reading a book.

In short, the book is about a journalist who finds herself the subject of her own popular true crime podcast. Popular podcaster Alix Summers crosses paths with an unassuming woman called Josie Fair while celebrating her 45th birthday. Josie, it turns out, is also celebrating her forty-fifth birthday. They come across several similarities and joke they are birthday twins.

A few days later, Alix and Josie bump into each other again, this time outside Alix’s children’s school. Josie has been listening to Alix’s podcasts and thinks she might be an interesting subject for her series. She is, she tells Alix, on the cusp of great changes in her life.

Josie’s life appears to be strange and complicated, and although Alix finds her unsettling, she can’t quite resist the temptation to keep making the podcast. Slowly she starts to realise that Josie has been hiding some very dark secrets, and before she knows it, Josie has tangled her way into Alix’s life—and into her home.

But, as quickly as she arrived, Josie disappears. Only then does Alix discover that Josie has left a terrible and terrifying legacy in her wake, and that Alix has become the subject of her own true crime podcast, with her life and her family’s lives under mortal threat.

Who is Josie Fair? And what has she done?

To get to the answers you find you cannot turn the pages fast enough. I was captivated by the main characters and weirdly enough identified with both of them. Expect lots of twists and turns, even to the very last pages when you think nothing can surprise you anymore. Absolutely loved this book. Highly recommended to fans of mystery fiction.

Another fast-paced gripping thriller from Lisa Jewell.
This one is very dark. Josie meets famous podcaster Alix in a restaurant where, coincidentally, both are celebrating their 45th birthdays.
Josie soon proposes a plan to her ‘birthday twin’ Alix, and an inevitably tragic series of events is unleashed.
Without giving more away, this is in the style of thrillers where we don’t know who we should believe. Is Josie an innocent victim or are there more sinister events at play?
Jewell always paces a thriller well, and her characters are strong ones.
Recommended if you like a dark and twisty-turny thriller.

Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow. This book is amazing. I read it in one sitting. I was addicted. I always love Lisa Jewels books. But this book was just something else entirely. Really gripping, completely addictive and amazingly well written. I mean I know the book is called none of this is true. But I was still completely sold on the story, I was there for the ride and I believed it all. Fantastic. I think I've found my favourite book of the year already. It's going to take alot to top this.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 nearly 5 stars.

Where to start?! It’s hard to describe without spoilers but what I can say is that this book kept me guessing and gripped.

It has a few twists and turns and the end I did not see coming.

The cleverness is how the author has you switching you views of and allegiances to, the different characters.

Recommended.

Lisa says that this book was the fastest she has ever written, and a departure from her usual. Don’t worry though as it still has all the things fans love about Lisa’s writing.
I struggled a lot with Daisy Jones and the six (Taylor Jenkins Reid) due to the style it was written in, but what didn’t work for me then was perfect in this book. Whose reality is really as it seems? When each person blames the other who do you believe? Can you be too kind, or does that make you a doormat?
Right up till the very end, this book challenges and changes and is a really engrossing read.

Lisa Jewell can do no wrong in my eyes. Every plot I’ve read of hers is pacey, engaging and carefully crafted to induce the reader with heart-stopping moments.

The unpredictability of the story is what makes this one incredible. The last 50% went so quickly, I couldn’t stop reading until I had finished. The characters are excellent, always a fan of an unreliable narrator. The ending was satisfying and all loose ends were tied up… eventually.

5 stars- loved it!

I was hooked with this book from the first page! It seemed like it took me ages to read but I really wanted to take it all in and enjoy it. It’s so gripping, like all of this authors work it takes you on a real ride keeping you wanting more.
The characters are slightly odd, maybe quirky is the right wording. Trust no one and enjoy the journey this book takes you on as it’s truly brilliant.
These type of books are why I love thrillers 🖤❤️

I really enjoyed this modern and fresh storyline where a podcast is woven around the story. Alix and Josie share the same birthday, they are birthday twins.

You have a inkling where the story is going, how it's going to play out and you get settled into the ride. Then the twist comes and throws everything up in the air! I definitely didn't see it coming. I loved every minute.

A Thrilling Book Review of Lisa Jewell's None of This Is True
Blog Introduction: In her latest book, None of This Is True, Lisa Jewell tells a thrilling story about a family that is rocked by a scandal. The novel follows the lives of Alix Summers, a podcaster and Josie Fair, her birthday twin. It's an exciting, edge-of-your-seat adventure that will appeal to readers who love suspenseful stories. Let’s dive into this review!

None of This Is True follows the lives of Alix Summers, who is a well-known podcaster and her birthday twin, Josie Fair whom she meets at the pub on their 45th birthday celebrations. Josie has a great new idea for Alix’s podcast, the story of her life as she changes. Typically, though, all is not as it seems, and Josie is completely different to what Alix thinks she will be. The story unfolds through several twists and turns as we find out more about both characters and their families and the dark secrets that hide behind both of their lives.

The characters in None of This Is True are well-developed and will keep readers hooked until the very end. Alix and Josie are very different characters, Alix is very together and has what seems to be a perfect life, and Josie is much more rough and ready though professes to want to change and have Alix document that through her podcast. There are a number of minor characters whom we see throughout and which add perfectly to the intrigue. Each character has flaws and strengths that make them relatable and real.

I felt that Josie’s character was strange from the outset, but I couldn’t have guessed the full extent of what was about to happen, and I couldn’t take my eyes off the page until I knew everything!

Lisa Jewell's writing style is fast-paced and engaging. She keeps readers on their toes with unexpected plot twists and turns that will keep you guessing until the end. Her use of vivid descriptions also helps bring the characters to life, which usually makes it easy for readers to connect with them on an emotional level. However, on this occasion, didn’t connect as much as I would have liked either main character.

However, in None Of This Is True the format is much different to her usual format and from the opening we get the idea that this is a Netflix series which has been produced from a number of interviews rather than just a podcast. We know it leads to something big and not what we are expecting from the outset but it's not until near the end that we find out what that is. I loved this format; it was slightly confusing in places but it all ties together perfectly by the end.

Overall, I don’t think this was the best Lisa Jewell book I have read, and I’ve read quite a few of hers as she's one of my favourite authors but I enjoyed the new format and the premise of the book. I sometimes get concerned when an author brings out new releases so quickly that they will lose their appeal, often becoming very similar, this wasn’t similar to the others but didn’t have the usual pizazz she normally produces.

None of this is True by Lisa Jewell

Couldn't wait to read this , the author is one of the favourite in this genre , and she never fails to delight in her fantastic plots.
This time we meet fairly sedate Josie out with her husband for a quiet evening out. The much more outgoing Alix, well known as a podcaster and with a posse of followers is also out at the same venue. Strangely they are both celebrating their 45th birthdays.
A brilliant and complex story with lots of twists .
If you have liked Lisa Jewell’s other books you’ll definitely like this and I would recommend it.
Loved it.

This was just so brilliant I couldn’t put it down the tension and shocks took your breath away. Josie and her husband go to the pub to celebrate her birthday then Josie finds out that another girl in the pub is celebrating her birthday they are both the same age and was actually born in the same hospital. Josie then becomes obsessed with Alix and makes sure she is involved in her life especially when she finds out she is a podcaster as she wants to tell her story.

I can’t praise this book enough it was so good.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC

Another masterpiece by Lisa Jewell. I found myself up far too late, for two nights in a row, unable to put this newest offering from one of my favourite authors down. The plot is fresh and utterly compulsive and just wholly brilliant. All the stars!
