Magda is in prison charged with murder. The day of the trial arrives but Magda doesn’t get her day in court because one of the guards abducts her on the way to the hearing. Poor Magda seems to have exchanged one prison for another! Written from two points of view the reader discovers what happened previously and led up to what followed. Despite the fact the book had quite a bit of routine stuff going on it was still engrossing. Wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who has claustrophobia! It isn’t a long book so the pages go by quickly. Thought it was a great idea for a book (it would also be a good film or tv series) and didn’t realise it was based on a true event until the notes at the end. Despite the subject matter it was still an enjoyable, easy read.

I liked this enough but I didn’t love it. I loved the premise of the story and it’s what pulled me in, but unfortunately it didn’t completely live up to my expectations.

One thing I loved was the pacing and the plot was engaging and interesting, however I struggled with the characters. I liked that we had both perspectives from Magda and Kyle and it added a layer of complexity to the story, although I did find it hard to distinguish between their voices. The ending was also disappointing so it lowered my enjoyment, but I’m still glad I gave it a chance. Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and publisher for a chance to read and review this book.

An exciting psychological thriller that will keep you at the edge of your seat from the start. So many twists and turns that will keep the reader engaged into the story and the plot comes to a satisfying conclusion. I enjoy a story that doesn't give away all its secrets, it teases you. A must read for fans of psychological thrillers.

Magdalena Ignacio has spent two years locked up awaiting trial for her husband’s murder. But prison guard Kyle Hammond has other plans. He rescues her against her will and tells her he wants to protect her. His reasons may not be that pure, though. And Magda's past may return to haunt the stranger and the captive.
I couldn't put this book down! It flows fast and includes plenty of clues that kept me wanting to read on to find out what happens.
But the plot became weird at the end. At one point, Kyle spends a whole page rehashing what he just did in the previous pages. The redundancy interrupted the flow and felt like filler.
And then there's a twist at the very end that comes out of the blue with no lead-up. I would have given the book four stars, but that twist was too unrealistic and the end didn't come together in a satisfying way for me.
Trigger warning: violence, emotional, mental and physical abuse, profanity

The Stranger’s Captive was a great read.

Revenge is a dish best served cold as they say and boy does that prove to be true with this story.

Magda’s marriage was a nightmare and she fought back. What she did next got her sent to prison to await trial.

What happens next she never saw coming.
A prison break, being held captive only to find yourself back in trouble with the law is something Magda knew would come sooner or later.

What will happen if or when she has to face a judge and jury? What will she do to protect her family? Anything. She will do anything.

When a prison guard kidnaps an inmate who’s awaiting trial, the inmate isn’t pleased with her new kind of prison…
Kyle Hammond has protected Magdalena since an attack left her hurt. She’s awaiting trial for the murder of her husband, but Kyle doesn’t think she deserves to be locked up. He makes a plan to escape with her, but when he carries it out, he’s stunned by her response…
She tries to flee from him.
Magdalena never thought she’d trade prison for another kind of captivity. But the guard who stole her plans to keep her hidden away for good. When her past comes back to haunt her, she learns an unexpected truth about her husband’s death. The real blame belongs with the last person she’d ever suspect…

This is a brilliant read.
Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start.
Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable.
Great suspense and found myself second guessing every thought I had continuously.
Can't wait to read what the author brings out next.
Recommend reading.

I was provided an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher. This is my own honest voluntary review.

This story got my interest right from the beginning as I was very curious why a prison guard -Kyle kidnapped one of the prisoners Magdalena. As the story unfolds you get a small hints what his reasons could be with a big twist at the end. Overall, this was a good book, but I wanted more. It felt too rushed for me. 3.5 stars.

Thank you NetGalley, Teal Moon and the author for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

When prison guard, Kyle, kidnaps an inmate who’s awaiting trial for the murder of her husband he then introduces her to a new type of prison. Kyle doesn’t think she deserves to be locked up and thinks Magdalena will be happy but Magda never thought she’d trade prison for another kind of captivity. Is Kyle really just trying to help and protect her? Or is something more sinister going on?

This is a short, quick read with most of the book being faced paced with plenty of twists and turns keeping you engaged. I really enjoyed it from start to finish and it was a premise I've never encountered before. I highly recommend for anyone trying to get out of a reading slump. I really enjoyed reading from both Kyle and Magda's point of views and not being able to guess what's going to happen next. It kept me interested towards the end.

I was so intrigued by this story's plot. It's totally original and I couldn't wait to find out how it all unfolded. I was semi-interested in the first few chapters and it took a while for things to really get rolling. It held my interest but wasn't captivating.

The Stranger’s Captive starts off minimally fast paced but then turns into a slow burn until the end. It is somewhat suspenseful with lots of unanswered questions for most of the story and only small revelations throughout. There were several moments where the action and anxiety would peak but then quickly level out again. The twist close to the end was slightly shocking but also a bit far fetched.

I really enjoyed the sections of the book that explained the backstory of the female MC. I also liked the ending and that it wasn’t necessarily a happy & tidy ending. I would consider it to be a domestic thriller with a slight psychological thriller edge thrown in.

This was definitely a premise o hadn't come across before so I was curious as to whether it'd work or not and for me, it was just a but lacking. Nothing really happened and I just couldn't seem to find any kind of connection or care about the characters. Its quite a quick and easy read anyways so I'm glad I gave it a try since it is such a unique concept and it's very rare to find those these days! It might not be fore everyone but I'd definitely say to give it a try and find out

Magdalaina is a prisoner Bing remanded for trial for the murder of her husband but on this day she is going to the doctor or at least that’s where she thought she was going. Kyle Hammond has other plans for her and although she hated jail she is a little leery of being kidnapped from the prison. She noticed the handsome jailer long before he took her and after she has resigned herself to the fact she isn’t going back she’s kind of OK with it. He has long held insecurities about losing weight and all the extra skin under his shirt that those who find him attractive don’t see, but Magdalena doesn’t care. The longer she is locked in his underground bunker with him the more she is enjoying it. She does Long for fresh air and that’s the one thing he is reluctant to give her. He also will not tell her why he took her… Why take such a chance to free her from the prison? Especially since he doesn’t even really know her. No matter how long they’re together she can tell there something he’s hiding and it’s the only thing he will not share with her and then one night she wakes up and he’s gone. Even though the door on the underground bunker where they are locks from the inside she cannot open it and she’s feeling sick. Has Kyle left her for good? Is this where she will die? Let me just say I stayed up until 4 o’clock this morning reading this book… It was so good and so gripping I was not prepared for the greatness that was this book. If you like fast pace drama filled reads then you definitely need to read The Strangers Captive, you will not be disappointed. There’s twist, secrets duplicity and everything good you find in a great thriller, it’s all in this book I loved it! I received this book from NetGalley and the publisher but I am leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.
