I enjoyed this book. (Seems strange to say that after listing the trigger warnings, but I did).

Lucy Kendall is an interesting character to follow. If the book was told from nearly anyone else's perspective, you'd almost consider her a villain in the story, and yet, you're rooting for her. She does things that would be frowned upon, but she's doing them in such a way that you can't help but not criticise her for them. She does these things to protect other defenceless people, and her code of conduct is such that she won't act without irrevocable proof that innocent people have been or will be harmed unless she acts.

SPOILERS ((That was a really convoluted way of saying that Lucy Kendall murders child molesters and sexual predators. But of course I couldn't just say that without spoiling the story.))

So yes, she's a villain, but in my mind she is a villain for the right reasons.

But, back to the case at hand, this book tells the story of a missing little girl, and the lengths police and Lucy Kendall, private investigator, are going to get her back safely. The plot twists in this book are insane, and I was interested enough that I didn't want to stop reading.

However, enough of the plot points are unbelievable to the point that it was noticeable. I usually don't tend to notice one or two unbelievable plot points, but if they're that obvious, it's hard to miss the fact.

So often, Lucy acts on small pieces of information she just happens to come across, or her computer-whiz friend happens to find, or someone just happens to be close enough to see something.

Also, the whole storyline with Chris and Justin? Just weird, to me.

And the final plot reveal? Not something that would be easy to see coming, as it felt like it came out of nowhere in the end.

But, it was still an enjoyable read, and one that kept me interested till the very end.

I'll probably end up forgetting this book pretty quickly, though. I don't think there was much to keep me invested in the series long-term.

This was my first Audiobook from Netgalley and first time reading/listening to a book by this author. This book gripped me from the very beginning and I liked as the story went on, Lucy Kendall revealed more about herself.

This was a compelling story and I also liked that the setting was in the Greater Philly area near where I lived for years so it was cool knowing places that the character referenced through out the novel.

I really liked the beginning of the story and how it gave you a strong introduction to the main character right from the start. I also liked the character Chris and how he became a more prominent character throughout the story. This story was a little difficult to read in some parts just with the reference to sexual assault and exploitation of children. However it had a strong plot and a great ending that already made me searching the next book in the series.

All in all, great story and many twists throughout. The narrator of the audiobook was very clear and I liked how she told the story.
Cannot wait to read the next book in the Lucy Kendall series!

First off, I love how Stacy Green's creative mind works.

The Girl in the Pink Shoes is not just the search for a missing child. It is a combination of a number of different story threads that are expertly weaved to create an unputdownable crime thriller.

Lucy Kendall, the social worker turned PI is a complex character with a philosophy few will understand. Whether you understand, accept or agree with her you will certainly have empathy with her standpoint. I also appreciate that she is not so fixated on this that she develops an understanding from a different viewpoint and therefore questions her beliefs and actions.

The twists and turns of this thriller will keep you on the edge of your seat as Lucy uses all her resources to find the missing girl. The secondary characters are interesting and certainly add dimension to the investigation and Lucy's life.

I look forward to reading more of Lucy Kendall's exploits.

In this, the audio version of the book, my skin and the hairs on the back of my neck tingled as the narrator brought this sometimes distressing story to life.

Lucy is a bad-ass vigilante private investigator on the case of missing 8 year old, Kailey. She's already mad that the sex offender across the street has been released from prison. He must know where sweet Kailey is, right?

As a mom, and a human being with a heart, I hate to read kidnapping stories, but I am always drawn to them and this one is no exception. Did Lucy do some questionable things? Sure did, but I was kept engaged throughout and really invested in the story.

This was a great introduction to a new series. I am hoping Todd and/or Chris will be involved in the coming books.

Narrated by Amelia Sciandra for 9 hours and 30 minutes. She did a fine job.

If you want a storyline that has many twisted plots I highly recommend this read. I keep trying to figure out who did, where the little girl was, who was all involved but I was always incorrect.

The Girl in the Pink Shoes is so compelling, it’s such a gripping story, i finished it in a day. I loved that it is so fast paced even tho it’s packed with so many details, characters has been written beautifully and their stories intertwined. It’s not that graphic considering it’s about child molestation, writer did a great job conveying the message and spread awareness without milking the issue👍🏼

As the book progresses you learn of all the guilt Lucy feels about her own childhood and her job. All the innocent lives taken too soon that she feels she could have saved. When someone figures out what she’s been up to, the two become an unlikely duo. That’s when another girl goes missing.. Lucy and Chris will stop at nothing to find her before it’s too late.


I found this book quite disturbing so if you have any triggers associated with rape, child pornography, sex trafficking I wouldn’t read this book. I did find out Stacy Green is an author from Iowa so that was an exciting find! I love finding out people live where I do! Formally All Good Deeds, The Girl in the Pink Shoes will be re-released January 30th!

The Girl in the Pink Shoes by Stacy Green was a whodunit style mystery and psychological thriller that will keep you guessing until the final chapter. Unfortunately, the book didn’t come with enough trigger warnings for me, personally, as the entire premise was based on a missing child, who was presumed to have been abducted by a previously convicted child rapist and murderer, who happened to live unregistered across the street from the missing child.

Quite a few little things had me scratching my head, but most were procedural errors, so I suspended disbelief and kept on reading to find out more. 

Suspects felt like they were coming out of the woodwork for PI and vigilante, Lucy Kendall, who happened to be a former social/case worker for Child Protection Services. It was totally understandable why she became so overwhelmed by her caseload and underwhelmed by the justice system’s decisions that she left and hung up her PI shingle.

All in all, this was an interesting start to a new series. The subject and plot devices were very disturbing, at times, and so it was hard for me to finish it. Not because of the writing, but just because of all of the trauma that I was reading about.

This is a Psychological Thriller with the very difficult topic of child abuse and abduction.

It is a gripping storyline, that is a page turner. It kept my attention from start to finish.

An eight-year-old girl – Kailey Richardson goes missing while walking home from school. She walks home regularly with some slightly older girls.

Luck Kendal is the main character and has a desire for revenge for offenders of this magnitude, as Lucy’s own sister was abused as young girl, who has taken her own life.

A difficult and challenging read however very well written, and one that will keep you guessing.

This is the first book in the Lucy Kendall series.

I will be picking up the next in this series.

She is also out for revenge against child abusers and pedophiles after having experienced a tragedy in her own family and messing up a CPS case as a social worker. The story is very upsetting because of the topic and a little far fetched. The characters are all angry and sad and it makes for a rough read. I applaud Lucy’s get go to find these abusers and take revenge, however I did not like the way she dealt with them. This story had a lot of potential.

Firstly thank you to @netgalley and @bookouture for this fantastic audio ARC copy. This was the first book in the Lucy Kendall series and what a read. The book covered a really tough topic - child abuse/child sexual abuse and some of the things that were spoken about were horrific. It gripped me in from the first chapter and I couldn’t stop listening. I loved Lucy and her unique way of dealing with these sick individuals. I found some of the characters to be really intriguing and they made you wonder if they could be guilty. Just as you think you have it all figured out, Stacy twists things and changes it all. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series. A 5 🌟 read 🙌🏼

Lucy Kendall quit her job as a Social Worker for Child Protection Services as she had experience that the agency hasn’t protected at risk children who need it the most.

She now has her PI License and is trying to bring justice.
When a little girl goes missing, Lucy believes the system failed to protect the boy some years ago and he may be responsible for her disappearance.

Some background on Lucy: Her obsession with revenge for those being abused goes back to when her older sister Lily was fifteen and committed suicide after being sexually abuse repeatedly by her mother's boyfriend. Lucy retaliated later when he tried to touch her and she beat him with baseball bat to his head and put him in the hospital.

There is no doubt these abuser need to be punished but I wasn’t convinced that Lucy should be doing this alone. She continues to track down and kills men who sexually abuse kids.
Since this is first in the series there is some backstories of Lucy’s relationship with Chris, Todd, and Justin.

Story does lighten up a bit with the hint of romance.
However, for the most part it is disturbing.

I am a big audiobook fan but I am also a narrator snob.
Sometimes I just don’t like the narrator’s voice or the impression the narrator has created.
In this case, I found Lucy unlikeable and wasn’t sure if it was Amelia Sciandra’s performance or if Lucy would have come across unlikable if I read the story.
This is first in the series and I had hoped to read the others ~ now I am not so sure.

I enjoyed all the twists in this story and how Lucy’s personal story was mixed into the investigation. This was a very interesting book that left me guessing. I did not see that ending coming.

The main character Lucy was too prejudiced to be either likeable or even believable. Just made he4 own rules up as she went along and even managed to find a stranger to assist with the same bonkers views. Subject matter was not easy but not dealt with in an over dramatic or descriptive way but that’s the only positive from me I’m afraid.

In this gripping story we get to know Private Investigator Lucy Kendall. She herself grew up with a manipulative mother and one can say her methods might be a bit unconventional.

When a young sex offender is released after his prison sentence, Lucy is beside herself and can’t help it. When eight year old Kailey Richardson goes missing she is sure it must have been him who took the girl.

The longer the story went on the more I couldn’t stop listening, because I desperately wanted to find out if Kailey would be found alive!

I enjoyed the narration by Amelia Sciandra!

The first thing I want to point out is that if child abuse is a trigger for you The Girl in the Pink Shoes might not be a book for you. Although the topic is treated with great sensitivity, I feel there were a lot of details and graphic descriptions that really unsettle.

The plot develops quite smoothly and the plot twists are really well blended into it. The characters' psychology is masterfully described and it shows that the author introduced some hints are purposefully after a while, this makes you feel like you are getting to know the people in the book. I was definitely left with a sense of dread and this had me thinking a lot, which is a great outcome for a book.

Even if she has a pleasant voice, I didn't enjoy the narrator that much as it seems she isn't always able to convey the right feelings for what she's reading and sometimes she's doesn't seem to properly switch from one character to another, which makes you confused as to who's just said something.

If this first book is any indication of how the rest of the series is going to be, I am looking forward to reading the rest!
Such an intriguing storyline that had me hooked from the moment it was revealed what she was doing. It is such a touchy subject (the child SA) but I didn’t cringe. I loved feeling the justice broyght on my the vigilante sh*t (sorry, had to quote Taylor Swift here).
Well written and would recommend to friends. The narrators accent threw me off a little at first, but was easy to get past after a few minutes.
Looking forward to book 2!

This is the first Stacy Green novel I have read and The Girl in the Pink Shoes doesn’t disappoint featuring a new character Lucy Kendall. she’s an ex social worker who is now working as a private detective who also hides a secret that occasionally she bumps of the odd paedophile. So when eight-year-old Kailey Richardson goes missing Lucy finds a way to join in the investigation. If you can get pass the subject matter the novel is a little far fetched but fast paced with plenty of twists & turns to keep you guessing till the end.

I did like the character Lucy, as although she is quite a damaged soul she is a likeable and I think following books will continue to enlighten us to what continues to make her tick. My only criticism was with the narrator Amelia Sciandra, unfortunately I found her accent rather off distracting so for the next instalment I think I would rather read the book.

I was excited to see a “new” series by Stacy Green as I enjoyed listening to the Nikki Hunt series. It turns out this is an older series that is being released on audio with new titles. Still works for me! Lucy Kendall’s sister committed suicide after being abused, which spurred her on to become a social worker and ultimately decide to be a vigilante private investigator who avenges victims of abuse. In this book, an 8yr old goes missing and Lucy will resort to any means in order to find her. Along the way, we learn more about her background and her connections to the people who help her solve these cases.
This series is narrated by Amelia Sciandra, a new to me narrator. I’ll be honest and say it was flat for me. I’m not sure if her accent has been infused with British sounds (she’s an American living in London) but I had to Google her after the first couple of hours because it sounded almost like a parody of a Canadian accent with the “ou” sounds. Either way, I have advance copies of the ebooks for the next 3 installments so I’ll see if reading it changes how I feel about the characters.
