The Descent Into Fascism by Jerry Wolfe was received directly from the publisher and I chose to review it. I rarely give a book less than three of five stars but when I do, it is due solely to political bias. This pamphlet sized book woefully failed to deliver on its title. Basically it blames the state of the world on Trump and the republican party (little "r" intentional). The "book" was not interesting, nor factual. Give this one a PASS.

Yes yes yes! This book was exactly what I was hoping/looking for. Informative, dense but not overwhelming. The writing is great. I can’t wait to get a copy for myself

I read the entirety of this short book, and I cannot recommend it. It makes many fantastic claims but contains very few footnotes, so it is impossible to verify them. I gave it three stars because some on the far political left may want to read it.

I think this book has, what many would consider to be, basic information regarding the political, cultural, and socioeconomic state of the U.S.A. With that said, there are MANY people who don't know even 1/4 of this information.

I appreciate the information provided. It was not something that made me feel any more enlightened regarding fascism.

I appreciate having the opportunity to review this eARC.

This was more of a pamphlet than a book and failed to deliver on its premise. It largely just rehash the current American political situation in an aggressively centrist looking way, something that other books offer in a more interesting and substantiated way (this book included no citations and no sources).

This was a crazy extremely invalid book. Though at times it may be correct on a teeny tiny bit, but I just found it to be dangerous and dishonest. It talked about propaganda, well, it was a book full of it. Thank you to #NetGalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read and review #TheDescentIntoFascism .

“The dark night of fascism is always descending in the United States and yet lands only in Europe.” Tom Wolfe

Another Wolfe, Jerry, explains with clarity the factors that exist in modern day America to show this could be disproven today.

Wolfe outlines all the major factors within government, media and the markets that show how easily fascism could take root in today's society. Although anyone following current affairs could easily trace these trends for themselves, I think this work is timely as many don't bother to look at these trends and analyse them. I will certainly be looking to use some of this work in my History classroom in the coming academic year.

What makes me mark it down to 3.5 stars is the lack of academic referencing, double spacing after each sentence and small punctuation error throughout that should have been caught before publication.

I recommend this work for a lay-person's view on how our current systems are being undermined and how we need to be switched on and engaged as our freedoms are being undermined.
