I have been reading Karin’s books for many years and she always comes up with excellent and detailed plots that keep me absorbed. This is a dark and visceral plot about several brutal rapes which seem connected. It is a thoughtful story, well researched and plotted and kept me gripped all the way through. It is part of the Will Trent/ Sarah Linton series and connects to a time when Sarah herself was raped. It is handled with sensitivity and for me is probably one of the author’s best books.

I was so excited to get this crime thriller/police procedural book by Karin Slaughter, as she is one of my favourite authors, and I have read nearly all of her books and loved them. I loved this book too!

We are back again with our beloved Will, Sara, Faith and Amanda, where they are helping to solve a lot of cases that started years ago, and are still going on today. The cases are about violent rapes and sometimes deaths, that have occurred. They are linked to Sara's rape from fifteen years ago, and she sets out to find out how and why.

I love Will and Sara, and how they are romantically together, as well as how they work together. Adding in their dogs, Sara's family, Amanda, Faith and Faith's children, we are not only given a book about crime, but we also see medicine, family liaisons, friendships and love too. So, this is a book that has everything. It is fast paced, full of tension, mystery, secrets and suspense, and it will keep you hooked and engrossed until the end.

I really loved reading this book all weekend, and I enjoyed it very much. I was so thrilled to be able to read this book, and I highly recommend it. All Karin Slaughter fans will love it, especially as Will Trent is now on a TV Show, so he is more popular now. I have watched the first 3 episodes of the TV Show, and I highly recommend that too. I love Karin and all of her work, and I can't wait for her next book and the next episodes of Will Trent on TV!

Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book.

It is so good to see Sara and Will back again, they have been away for far to long so as soon as I saw this was a Will Trent novel I preordered it asap. And now, to say how lucky and grateful I am to have received a digital advance readers copy would be the understatement of the year!
The book is due to be published in the UK on the 22 June 2023 and I cannot stress to you how highly I recommend you to preorder the book, it is one of her best!
When a young woman, Dani, arrives at Grady Memorial Hospital in a bad way and tells Dr Sara Linton that she had been rapped it opens up old wounds for Sara. Sadly, her injury’s were just too much and couldn’t be saved and Sara made a promise to the woman she would do everything in her power to find out who had done this to her.
Fast forward three years and Sara is giving evidence against an extremely wealthy family who’s son is on trail in a lawsuit for the rape and murder of Dani. But when your family has that much money and the best lawyers money can buy, you can buy your way out of anything!
As the trial triggers Sara she beats a retreat into the ladies bathrooms which results in a confrontation with the mother of the accused, Britt McAllister, who was in a very distressed state and all over the place possibly from the Valium that had fallen out her bag, or alcohol, or both. In her state she practically admits to knowing her son’s guilt and is hoping that this trial will be enough to stop him whilst also implicating her husband into the sordid act as well as “the others”.
Realising she has said too much she tries to take it all back, whilst leaving a parting shot at Sara by saying that what happened to Sara years ago is connected to what happened to Dani.
With not enough evidence and no way of knowing how they could be connected, Will, his partner Faith Mitchell and Sara begin their own investigation into the cases.
What they find are other victims with the same circumstances as Dani, but how do they all fit together, all they have to work with is circumstantial evidence that the McAllisters are up to their necks in it some how and who are ‘the others’?
The book is fast paced, full of mystery and intrigue, and flows at a rapid rate that there are no good places to put the book down. I literally read until I fell asleep and then picked it straight back up, devouring the book in two sittings.
I know it says that this is book eleven in the series, but if this is going to be your first delve into the Will Trent books you will still love it. There is enough backstory for new readers to understand what is going on so don’t let that put you off.
Once you’ve read this one you will want to read them all and I can safely say, there’s not a bad book in the entire series!
After That Night will be published in the UK on 22 June 2023 and August 22, 2023 in the US. The book is available to preorder now

Medical examiner Sara Linton and GBI investigator Will Trent are back - and looking forward to getting married - even Will’s boss Amanda is excited for it.
But Sara has to testify in a case of a brutal attack and murder of a young girl, Dani Cooper, who she worked on in the ER three year’s previously. The case reminds her of what happened to her fifteen years ago, just as she was about to get a Fellowship with a renowned doctor - an attack that changed her life.
The alleged perpetrator in this crime is the son of a fellow student from 15 years ago - and there are many similarities between Dani’s and Sara’s, and then Will and Faith find another murder - one that was swept under the carpet. What is going on? And has it been happening for 15 years?
Will and Faith start investigating, and along with Sara, uncover some uncomfortable information.
Another Fab book by Karin Slaughter - a real page-turner.
Thanks to @netgalley for the advanced copy.

It only took me 3 days to finish this and I was torn between wanting to get to the end and wanting it to last. I first read Karin Slaughter books in the first covid lockdown and got straight into the Grant County series and then later the Will Trent ones. This book is perfect - it takes us further with the relationship of Will and Sarah, we learn more about Faith and her family and of course there is the force that is Amanda! I also loved how it looks like we are going to see the next generation with the GBI with Jeremy and the characters of Kate Murphy and Evelyn being involved. It makes me just want to read the whole series all over again.
Sara is giving evidence in a trial of the death of a young girl who dies after being raped and she learns the case is linked to what happened to her while she was in medical school. She has to reopen some old wounds to find out the truth about what happened and Will and Faith support her by doing their own investigation. Amazing teamwork, great rapport between all the characters and it was like being back with old friends. I did not expect the ending either, Please don't let it be the last time we see Will Trent - I love his complex character!

What a surprise to get offered the opportunity to read the new book from Karin Slaughter pre published, thank you Netgalley and the publisher. Eagerly downloading it to my kindle I thought lets get started, oh 9 1/2 hrs read time but its only 400 pages, I soon learnt that the story is full of deep well rounded characters and rich story line got half way my brain exploding with detail; but its well worth it. I do want to warn readers the story line can be harrowing in that it does in graphic detail tell you the back story of Sara's rape linking in with historical and recent rapes of women and the men 's 'rape club' behind it; tracking down those men responsible. The authors note does tell us that in the US 40% of women declare they have been assaulted, a horrifying statistic.
The story is a brutal exposé of mans depravity to some women and raises some hard truths for us men to ponder upon. Don't be put off if you have read book 10 and thinking of stopping you need to read book 11 for the continued character development, deep story and realness.

I was beyond excited when I received this copy from NetGalley, Karin Slaughter never disappoints! This book was everything I expected, Sara and Will are both individually fascinating characters who I’ve followed since the beginning of both The Grant County and Will Trent series and I cannot recommend them enough. After That Night is heavy, emotional, raw and brilliantly written. I enjoyed the storyline, going back to “that night” and I can’t wait to see where the series will take us next.

Just as expected from Karin Slaughter a brilliant book! Karin really draws you in, so much so that you feel as if you are part of the plot. Can’t wait for the next one.

Wow this was Karin Slaughter at her best!! It’s been a while since a book made me want to call in sick from work!! This is a disturbing read, there are no 2 ways about it! This centres around a rape case Sara is giving evidence in. When it appears to have connections to what happened to Sara all those years ago, her, Will and Faith all start digging! What they find is mind blowing and will keep you up at night! Fantastic!

Another brilliant instalment by the author that will have you holding your breath in parts. This novel is everything you hope for from a Slaughter novel and more. It was terrifying, dark and gritty, mysterious and suspenseful and demands that you turn the pages at speed to see what will happen next.

Sara Linton and Will Trent are both back. Sara is giving evidence about a woman she tried to save when she was working in a hospital. The woman's dying words were that she was raped and was trying to escape her attacker. As the story goes along, connections from the past emerge and a frantic search for the truth unfolds.

Clearly there were lots of triggers in this one and there was gore but if you have read a Slaughter book before then you will expect this. With that said, there were a bunch of lighter scenes and a splash of humour. The author is just masterful and this is just another novel in her collection that showcases that. Highly recommend.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK for this gifted review copy. It has been one of the highlights of my reading year so far.

Of all the Will Trent/Sara Linton novels, I feel as though this is the most personal and the most satisfying. There have always been questions for readers who know Sara's story and this book ties her past to her present in a devastating way.
After That Night is compelling and intense story, gritty and with so many elements that are honest and true to the life experiences of women who have been victims of violence. Karin Slaughter, as always, engages the hearts of her readers by capturing the dark realities of her characters and throwing us all together in a crime thriller that is entirely consuming.

Will and Sara are old friends of mine and this is a welcome return to my bookcase for them!
Centered around the abduction and rape of young women and seemingly linked to the trauma Sara suffered as a newly qualified doctor the story is hard hitting from the outset, with a band of thoroughly unpleasant men at the core of the horrific situations the women find themselves in.
With a twist that blows expectations out of the water this is an un-put-down-able read!

Publication Date: 22/6/23

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

No Spoilers
Themes of rape and violence

I’ve read all of Karin Slaughters novels and the Will Trent/Sara Linton series is definitely my favourite.
This book does not disappoint.
Although the descriptions of the crimes are hard to read, it never seems gratuitous. The forensic research and detail is amazing, compelling you to keep turning the page.
A satisfying conclusion after a twisty heart stopping story.
Combined with 2 of my favourite characters ever, this was a fantastic read.

Thanks to the author, publisher and netgalley for the opportunity to read this advance copy in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

What a fantastic comeback of old favourites Will Trent and Sara Linton.
Will and Sara are getting married but they have also a case to figure out with the help of Faith, Amanda and the GBI. It involves what happened to Sara when she qualified as a Doctor at the start and brings back a lot of people she would rather forget but what happen then and the newest victim in the case are related but how?
Fantastic read and great to have the gang back, looking forward to more from these two characters.

I was very unsure when I read the synopsis of this book as the idea of going back 15 years made me worried the author was running out of ideas. I couldn’t have been more wrong! This was a stunning story with all the favourite characters from previous Will Trent books.
Dr Sara Linton ends up dealing with a rape case in hospital that brings up her own trauma from fifteen years ago. Sara is then told her case and the new maybe linked.
Sara, Will and Faith start to investigate.
I read this book in a do and am now bereft that I can’t read it again and will have longer to wait for the next Karin Slaughter.
Thanks to HarperCollins UK and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Karin Slaughter never misses. I've read every single one of her books and this series and the characters are my favourites. This might be pitched as a police procedural but it is at it's heart a character study and really dissects the trauma it puts it's characters through. I will honestly say Will Trent is one of my favourite male characters ever.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I think you need to read the grant county series before this one. We're still discussing the lifelong impact of things that happened 17 books ago. And it's done so well. Sara and and Will feel so real to me. I loved seeing them working as a unit and the way they've learned to discuss things. This really feels like we've seen their journey to a really healthy place in their relationship.

Faith, who I also love, describes herself in this book as "The wise cracking best friend to their hallmark movie." And sometimes, just sometimes, it can feel like that. So we love being self aware. But she has her own storyline, and I'm hoping for more books in this series because this book showed there is still more for her to come.

This book is not as graphic as some books by this author. It definitley comes with heavy topics but it's missing the shudder inducing gore of some of the other books. The themes of this book are rape, murder, kidnap, domestic abuse. Basically there's always triggers for basically everything. I think this is more plot driven. But it's a great addition to the series. I think if you love this series, you'll enjoy this book. This is more of a Sara centric book, and there's a lot of Sara and Will's relationship to enjoy - Though to be honest I always need more. I would read a book about them sitting on a couch doing nothing.
