A case perhaps of the wrong book for the wrong reader, but this really did not work for me. I dnf'd about three chapters in as there was sadly nothing grapsing me in Fia's story.

A main character who wants to throw away her career over a some what attractive man.... It's a no from me, I DNF'd.

An easy enemies to lovers office romance - it was a long slow burn with little spice but easy escapism.

The Break-Up Clause was a very easy and enjoyable, enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy set in the competitive world of a New York law firm (LOVE). The setting and set-up was so, so fun!
There were elements of the plot that were formulaic - but honestly, that's sometimes what you need. If you are looking for a quick and easy read that will make you laugh-out-loud and smile (because there were some very sweet moments!) then this might be the one for you.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC copy.
Hargan had me gripped since her first novel so I didn’t hesitate to press request when I saw this one.
It’s typical enemies to lovers fare but with an exciting twist..they’re married!
Both MCs had me captivated from the get-go, they frustrated me in parts but this really built up emotions and got the story going in all kinds of directions.
I love this trope and Hargan did it really well, I can’t wait to read more from her.

It’s hard to find a satisfying enemies-to-lovers romance set in a workplace but this book does not disappoint. Add in the secret marriage and it makes it so much interesting. I really love the author’s writing and it definitely hooked me in. However, the FMC was pretty annoying and that derailed my reading experience a bit.

I really liked the concept of this book and overall, it did well at living up to my expectations.
It was a second chance romance unlike any that I had read before, which was nice.
This also feels like it would be a great beach read, as with a lot of romances, you kind of know what to expect and how it will all go. Even if there were a few unexpected twists which I liked.
There was some nice banter between the two and I enjoyed where this transported me to.
I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for what Niamh Hargan does next.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I received this arc in exchange for an honest review. 🤍
This is second book from Niamh Hargan that I have read. I really enjoy her style of writing and her unique plots and form of storytelling.
I didn’t feel as connected to this book as I did to Twelve Days in May, but it was enjoyable nevertheless. It is a workplace, second chance romance that follows Fia and Ben as they are reunited a decade after their spur-of-the-moment Vegas wedding.
I’d recommend this to anyone who loves workplace or second chance romances and are in need of an easy, fun read.

The in-depth characterisation and how comprehensively Ms. Hargan explored the range of emotions between the two, lent this tale an edge that lasted up till the last page was read and done. I loved it.

This book was great fun! Love a good romance from time to time. The characters were relatable and had funny dialogue. Great stuff!

Not for me, the concept was too flawed. Thank you for sending it though! I can see it as a tv rom-com!

As a lover of romance books, sometimes plots can get samey, but I liked the freshness of this premise, formed around failed marriage/enemies to lovers tropes. Would defo recommend Fia and Ben's story to anyone looking for an easy read

4/5
The Break-Up Clause was a highly enjoyable read. I enjoyed the enemies to lovers aspect, though my only wish for this book was that there was more by way of an 'impactful' build up to their eventual romance. The failed marriage trope worked perfectly with these two characters, who existed as unlikeable until things eventually cleared up.
Overall, I would recommend to people who are looking for a slow burn enemies to lovers and prefer not to have on-the-page smut.

I DNF this book. I just wasn't invested in this book. I gave it a good shoot, but no, not for me...
Thanks to Netgally

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with a copy of The Break-Up Clause by Niamh Hargan. This was such a fun rom-com with a unique plot; I’ve never read a love story like it! I would definitely recommend this to romance lovers.

A fun easy read. The cover is what initially drew me in (I know, don’t judge a book…) but this was really good! My first of the author and would defo read from her again :)

This was great! So much fun, with lovely characters and a great arc. I really believed that Fiadh and Ben hated each other, but that they had an underlying attraction that they just couldn't shake. Really enjoyable book

An entertaining read, enemies to lovers (or exes to rekindled relationship?) - in The Break Up Clause, Fia's ex-husband Ben starts a new role in her office. She's his boss and no-one knows they were ever married. Lots of misunderstandings and flare ups ensue as they try to avoid each other as much as possible. Obviously its a romcom so we all know where its going and with a pretty much inevitable outcome, the story was a lovely light way to spend a few hours.

A funny, charming and romantic read that had me laughing out loud and rooting for the characters all the way through

Love to see Irish Romance having a moment, and Hargan's novel about two colleagues with a romantic past is a fun, enjoyable read.
Second-chance romance is not always my favourite trope, but (kind of)enemies to lovers is, so this worked well for me! I enjoyed the slow build-up to the full back story, and the New York setting was great.
