An fun story to start of a new series!
Sarah does not want to marry the man her father has set for her. What to do? Step in Grandma Edie, a matchmaking Duchess who devises a plan.
Kier, a handsome Scot, agrees to the crazy scheme to "kidnap" Sarah and hide out in the woods.
Well, the best laid plans and all that.... It seems Grandma Edie's ultimate plan just might come true and the two journey to love..
Flames of winter may be my new favorite Arc I have read in the past year. I am giving it 5 out of 5 stars. It is a sweet little romance, that you cheer for the main characters all the way through. It is a sweet read and has no spice content. It does have 1-4 kisses eventually, but that is as far as they go. This is a book for fans of Historical romance and Bridgerton. Our main Character Sarah is a young woman trying to escape a terrible marriage match to the much older and cruel Lord Blackmore. The character is helped by Grandma Edie, the grandmother of Sarah’s best friend who is very reminiscent of lady Danbury. Grandma Edie hires Keir a long-time family friend to help kidnap Sarah and help ruin her reputation, so that she will not be forced to marry Lord Blackmore. Sarah is adorably cute, slightly unsure of her place in the world, but through the book she grows as a person and starts to take more control over her own life. Keir is a gorgeous Scotsman, think Jaime from Outlander who is a strong person, and very protective of Sarah. Through the book they both grow as people and start to open more to each other, making this a very enjoyable read. It does end on a cliff hanger promising more adventures of Sarah and Keir, which I cannot wait for myself. This book is a definite must read for fans of regency era romance!
Charming start; no HEA yet
Sarah and Keir certainly have an unconventional start to their romance, with Grandma Edie up to her usual matchmaking tricks while never really revealing what she's up to. I loved the world-building and the characters are beautifully brought to life. The romance is slow-burn, with only the beginnings shown in this installment.
Generally I'm not a fan of romances that are spread out over more than one book - is it too much to expect a whole story in one book? - but this one was an enjoyable read, and I have hopes that it will continue as it began and bring our couple to a satisfying HEA at some point in the next book(s).
I always enjoy this author's writing style, with vivid imagery, strong characters, and the tiniest hint of tongue-in-cheek humor. I'm looking forward to finishing Sarah and Keir's story. I can only give it three stars until I have read to the end. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
This book is amazing. I can't wait for the next book in the series to come out so I can continue the story. This is a must read. I am loving the characters and the story line.
I just reviewed Flames of Winter by Bree Wolf. #FlamesofWinter #NetGalley

Love the story of Sarah and Keir. Characters that have made appears in previous books have caught the eye of matchmaking Grandma Edie. New series, but old favorites are interwoven throughout the story. Sarah is desperate to get out of her engagement to a overbearing bully old man. Arranged by her father to payoff his gambling debts, Grandma Edie has a wild plan to save her, but the courage to follow through is something that Sarah lacks and must find to save herself.
Keir is a close family friend of Grandma Edie and when she asks a favor of him he can’t refuse. Posing as a kidnapper and keeping Sarah safe, while hiding his connection to the Whickerton‘s and Grand Edie isn’t easy. Falling enchanted with the shy, blushing beauty is dangerous and keeping her hidden is becoming a challenge.
The book is a sweet slow building romance, that has you wanting more and you will get more…..eventually! Ends in a cliffhanger. Thank you NetGalley for this eARC. I am voluntarily posting an honest review after reading an Advance Reader Copy of this story. #NetGalley #FlamesofWinter #BreeWolf #WolfPublishing
ARC REVIEW….Thank you to NetGalley for proving me with the book in exchange for a review.
The night before her wedding, Sarah planned to run away from an arranged marriage due to her father’s gambling debts. Along with the help of Grandma Edie, she is able to stage her kidnapping and escape from this marriage. The catch? Grandma Edie is playing matchmaker and sends Keir to “kidnap” her.
Keir is a Scotsman that is very close to Grandma Edie and her family, the Whickertons. He helps stage Sarah’a kidnapping and hides her in a cabin. While together, Sarah comes out of her shell and becomes this strong, confident woman which is the opposite of how she was raised.
The two of them grow closer and closer the longer they are together and eventually fall in love with each other. However, they don’t go further than some stolen kisses because she’s a Baron’s daughter and he is simply a Scotsman. With help from Grandma Edie, they may get their chance at love.
The novel switches between Keir, Sarah, Lord Blackmore (Sarah’s fiancé) and Grandma Edie’s perspectives. It allows for the glimpse into what’s actually happening while Sarah and Keir are in the woods, away from everything. You also get a look into how Grandma Edie likes to play matchmaker and see her adapt to everything in order for it to happen.
It was a light read and the plot was decently paced throughout. There were some slow moments but not enough to make me put down the book. Overall, highly recommend
A fun and entertaining story. A kidnapped young miss and a protective Scotsman in a cabin in the woods in the deep of winter. Sounds wonderful and yes very enjoyable to boot. Match making is afoot and Sarah and Keir the targets. Lots to recommend here and more to come with two more books.
Chapter after chapter, I hoped the story would get better but it became so repetitive, I struggled to read it to the end....and even then, there's no end since you have to wait until March for the next book to come out to find out what happens between Sarah and Keir! I've read many Bree Wolf books and have enjoyed them all....but not this one. I felt no heat or passion between them, Sarah was so timid it drove me crazy and I swear the cat is the only redeeming quality in the whole story!! Much too long, very repetitive and the cliffhanger ending just did me in.
I received an ARC of this book via NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Little Wisp and the Highlander:
A very naive Sarah is a desperate frightened lady with a plan to escape her betrothed. A much older man her father has bartered her off to pay his gambling debts.
Grandma Edie, who is a clever friend, is part of the plan of her escape.
The planned abduction brings forth Keir. My hero of this story. He's a wonderful, sweet highlander with a lot of patience as he has to deal with a very spoiled, helpless, frightened. and sheltered Sarah.
It is interesting to see how much Sarah changes throughout this story.
A slow attraction hoping for a blossoming romance is in their future.
A charming story, a darling cat, dangerous boar, and so much more.
An interesting story with intriguing characters.
I had not read any of the previous books of the series, so I wasn't
aware of connections with the Whickerton family. That wasn't a
problem though.
Beautiful Cover
4.25/5 stars! This book was a lovely regency romance. I really enjoyed Sarah and Keir and Grandma Edie was hilarious. This was a perfect winter read to cozy up with a blanket and dive into. I didn't love that it ended on a cliffhanger but the author gave us a clear warning, I'm just disappointed I have to wait to find out how Keir and Sarah's story ends.
I received an advance review copy for free through NetGalley, and I am leaving this review voluntarily
Uhm, really don't know how to express my opinion on this book without being rude...
But for real, why is this only part 1? This book could've been much more interesting if it was fast paced.
Most of the book was just Keir teasing Sarah and being proud of her, it was wholesome the first two times and then got pretty repetitive and lame.
The storyline was really underwhelming and couldn't hold my attention.
I really wanted to feel invested in their story but I'm going to pass on the remaining parts.

Sarah Mortensen daughter to Baron Hartmore. She must married Lord Blackwood to repay her father debt. She dosnt want to married without love. With help from Dowager Countess of Whickerton her bestfriend grandmother, Sarah "Kidnapped" by Keir Mackinnear.
I love how Sarah change, from silent, scare, bound with her mother opinion to Happy, dare to speak, abilty to stand herself. This is Happend with Keir help, when both of them spend time together in cabin.
Too bad their story will continue in second book.
Thank you to NetGalley for provide this book, it is pleasure to review this book.

The way this story is written is quite interesting. At the beginning the dialogue among Keir and Sarah was one sided for a number of chapters. Each time Keir would ask her a question, I was hoping She would give a response. The story was told in an entertaining way. This contributed to the book being an easy page turner. I thought the characters were fun and entertaining. I enjoyed reading this holiday read.
