I have never read any of the books, just watched the series. I was looking forward to seeing what the book version would be like. However, just like the series it has went downhill. Therefore, I was a bit disappointed.
Thank you to Caroline Kepnes and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

This is the first book I have read in this series so I confess it took me a few chapters to fully understand what was going on here. The story has a narrator and for me, it comes across like a reader is stalking an author. I am glad I persevered and I award 5 star as it is refreshingly different from books I have read before.

I love the series, so it's interesting to read the books behind it.

Just like with the series, by no 4, I'm losing interest, so I'd say they may both be going downhill, but I'm willing to give both a chance still.

For You and Only You is the fourth book in the You series. This series is addictive and binge-worthy, and this book didn't break the streak for me. I read it within 24 hours and I couldn't put it down.

This time Joe has moved to Massachusetts for a writing fellowship at Harvard. His love interest this time around, Wonder, is also a writer, and this time around the book delves into the (sometimes toxic) dynamics of academia and the struggles of mediating human relationships alongside one's own creativity. And of course, there's murdering afoot.

All in all, I found book four refreshing; it touched on some interesting themes beyond what I had been expecting from the outset.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC copy for an honest review.

Not exactly what I was expecting. I think this is just one of the few cases when I have to admit that I rather watch the movie.
I loved coming back to Joe Goldberg and his twisted mind but this time around I felt like things dragged a little and I wasn't as invested as with the previous books in the series
The writing style is there, and I could hear his voice while reading but the story just didn't do for me

Joe is such a well thought out character, I have followed the Netflix series and the books. I did prefer the last books however this still kept my attention. This needs to be read in order just so you can get to grips with Joe and his crazy lifestyle.

I wasn't sure what to expect with this one but it still didn't really live up to anything. It was a very okay book and a nice addition to the series, but I feel I may forget about it in a month or so.

I really enjoyed the first three novels in this series but by this book i’m wavering. The crazy plotlines are out of my reach and i am always concerned about the romanticising of a serial killer! Joes internal monologue is always well written but this was not for me.

Just when I feel like I am getting sick of Joe and the story has run its course, along comes the next installment and I am hooked again!. I love Joe and I love this series - its so much better than the TV series which seems to have gone really lame.

It's been an interesting journey with Joe Goldberg, and I couldn't not follow along with the 4th instalment of the series. Sadly, I've found myself becoming more disinterested with the story and the writing as the series has progressed and this book was no exception.

I found this instalment of the You series overall kind of boring and definitely a little longer than necessary, It just seemed to be lacking the thrill that was contained in the previous books. I struggled to continue on with the story, it's just lucky I'm not a quitter and I did see this one through.

I will forever appreciate Kepnes constant references to literature through out her stories, and the change in scenery to Harvard in this book was fun. But overall I just found this book to be a chore to read which was really disappointing. Unfortunately, I think the mysteriousness of Joe Goldberg has run its course and he is just a little too predictable and boring to me now. I guess 4 books in, I'm stalkered out..

Rarely do I get so excited about a book that I have to drop everything else I’m reading to focus on it. I did with this fourth instalment of You. I wasn’t really overjoyed with it, it felt like the same story over again, lots of repetitions, unlikable characters (apart from Joe, go figure). It felt like hard work to read this and it was very ‘putdownable’ (iykyk). It could have been A LOT shorter but not a great deal actually happened. Sadly, it didn’t live up to expectations set by its predecessors. This is a review I’m sad about but thank you @netgalley for the eARC of For You and Only You, out on 4th April.

Unfortunately this wasn't my favourite. It was kind of slow and I did not really like the ending. I still love Joe though :-D He is such an amazing character.

Reading the latest Joe Goldberg book alongside watching the new series of you had my head spinning a bit, but I thought this latest installment in the series was pure gold (no pun intended)... I'll never tire of this lovable psychopath. I loved seeing Joe on a campus - this was the perfect move to keep the story fresh. Five stars from me!

I'm grateful for this arc but I cannot read another word of this. DNF @ page 47

I really wanted to read this so I could compare it to the new season of You on Netflix and see what the differences were but I can't read this anymore. Joe being a pretenstious book lover was fine but now the author has added a layer of his next victim (maybe?) having goodreads and talking about books there. I can't. It's giving slight author in reviewer spaces vibes which just take me out of the story.

I also forgot how disgusting Joe is as a person and I can't with him either. My You journey apparently only works on screen and I'm fine with that.

WOW!!!!! Hooked from the first page and read this book in one sitting… Full of tension and suspense. A real page turner

You know when you watch something then try to read it? I feel like having watched this series on TV I expected so much more. I couldn't gey into this and found the writing appalling.

I can't figure out what it is about this book that I disliked so much, but it felt disconnected from the previous books. I wasn't drawn in by the love interest, she was bland, and had no connection with Joe, who also seemed to be a lot more boring in this book.

The book spent so much time in Joe's inner monologue that I was getting lost, whereas that was what originally drew me to the books in the first place. It stilted the plot and made the book drag, so there weren't as many hard hitting plot twists and the foreboding just wasn't there which made the book difficult to enjoy.

In all honesty, I don't think this series needed to be dragged out past hidden bodies.

Absolutely appalling writing.

Need I go on? It has taken me five days to get to a third of the way through this book and do you know what? It’s because it is so badly written and so boring I’d much rather clean the bathroom than drag myself through another sentence.

Granted the style of writing is exactly how it translates to the screen. But omg is it dull. The whole book is just a raging inner monologue of tedious drivel.

Joe has turned into the worst version of himself. All the thrills of the first book has gone. And what’s left? A very angry and miserable male who even when he has what he wants is still complaining!!

I’ve read a third of the book and nothing momentous has happened. There was a situation’ that was vaguely interesting and provoked a small laugh but other than that this is the longest love story in history.

And don’t even get me started on names! That’s about the most interesting thing about this whole book. Names like O.K, Sly and … Wonder!! Is that all you’ve got now Kepnes? I’m so disappointed and so thoroughly bored. I apologise for my own rant but I. EXPECTED. BETTER!!

I just can’t take it anymore and I’m giving up! Thanks to NetGalley for my advance copy in exchange for my honest review… my thoughts are my own.

Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I’m not sure whether my view on this has been skewed by the TV adaptation but I struggled with it a bit. Many of the cultural references just went over my head and if I ever see the word Coolatta again it’ll be too soon.

Joe is on top ranting form from the outset and in his crosshairs are women, incompetent drivers and educational institutions. Caroline Kepnes plunges us into Joe's latest escapade at a brisk pace, resulting in the reader feeling instantly immersed in the You-niverse. Oh, Joe, how I've missed you so! Mr Goldberg remains my favourite literary psychopath. In 'For You And Only You', Joe becomes an Ivy League douchebag who's written a book. Cue the usual, topnotch literary and musical references scattered throughout his internal monologues. We need playlists to accompany these books, people! Of course, Joe soon scopes out a new receptacle for his warped affection and we get a front row seat for their unravelling love story. Exactly what we've come to expect from the brilliant Caroline Kepnes. Keep 'em coming and we'll keep on "reading it, loving it"!
