I Will Find You by Harlan Coben
I give this book 4.5 stars
David awakes to find himself covered in his son's blood. And while he knows he did not murder his son, the overwhelming evidence against him puts him behind bars indefinitely.
Five years into his imprisonment, Cheryl's sister arrives - and drops a bombshell.
She's come with a photograph that a friend took on vacation at a theme park. The boy in the background seems familiar
Is it Matthew…..is he still alive!
Harlan Coben is an exceptional storyteller and this book is one hell of a fast paced ride. Packed full of action,a desperate father breaks out and goes on the run, helped out by Rachel his sister in law to find out what really happened on that fateful night.I loved the two agents involved,Max and Sarah’s partnership added an extra dimension with a touch of humour. Gripped and tense I was there with David and his resiliency as he embarked on his journey to find the truth, uncover the deceptions and evade recapture.
A binge read at its best!
With thanks to Netgalley,Harlan Coben and Random House UK, Cornerstone, Century for my chance to read and review this book
David is serving a prison sentence for the murder of his young son Matthew, that he insists he is innocent of. When sister in law Rachel brings him evidence that shows Matthew may actually still be alive, he is determined to breakout of prison and find his son. Can David succeed in finding Matthew, and prove his innocence to the world?
The story consists of a number of highly improbable events, but it is a very entertaining read. I had to suspend my disbelief throughout, but I really enjoyed it nevertheless. Full of action, full of twists and full of entertainment - another great book by Harlan Coben.
As with all Harlan Coben books, he leads the reader through an intricate maze of clues linking what would seem to be an impossible scenario. Great characters, great story line, very hard to put down, thoroughly recommended.
I love Harlan Coben's novels and this was a cracking read. A father jailed for the murder of his young son, is given evidence give years later the boy may be alive. The author is a great storyteller and the novel held my attention til the end. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.
I’ve read a few Harlan Coben books in the past and have found them to be enjoyable reads. I was pleased to be approved for an advance copy of his latest standalone, out on 16th March. Thanks to Random House UK, Cornerstone, and NetGalley for a copy to review.
David Burroughs has been in prison for the last five years for brutally murdering his young son. He’s fairly sure he didn’t do it, but he can’t remember what happened and the evidence is stacked against him. David’s sister-in-law visits him out of the blue and shows him a photo which changes everything.
This book definitely held my interest and was a page turner. I was rooting for David the whole time and found the characters to be well-developed.
The plot has plenty twists and turns and you find you can’t stop reading! I thought it was well paced and the chapters were a good length.
It’s maybe a little far fetched but despite this I still enjoyed it. I thought the end was a bit flat which was a shame.
Overall, I think this book is a good thriller and definitely worth a read.
3.5 stars rounded to 3.
As always with Harlan Coben's books this is a cracking read, and a real page-turner. I found the story highly improbable, however, and couldn't completely lose myself in the book as a result. It's definitely a book to while away a long journey though.
"I am serving the fifth year of a life sentence for murdering my own child"
That was it - I was HOOKED! I could not put this book down, did he do it? what has been happening? Honestly it just had me gripped throughout and I could not read it quick enough as I NEEDED to know! Brilliantly written, fast paced and unputdownable!
like Harlan Coben a lot, his books are gripping, action packed and unputdownable. I Will Find You follows this pattern, however, in this one you might need to suspend your disbelief quite a bit.
David is serving time in prison for killing his 3 year old son. He doesn't remember doing it, but the evidence against him was there so perhaps he's done it in his sleep? After 5 years in prison, David has a visitor, his sister in law, Rachel. Rachel shows him a picture with a boy in the background who looks like Matthew, David's dead son. This is enough for David to realise that Matthew is alive and he's been set up. The only thing he needs to do now is break out of prison and find his son.
Even though the plot is a bit over the top in this one, it is still a very enjoyable page turner that only HC can write and I had a great time reading it.
Many thanks to the publisher and NG for my review copy in exchange for an honest review.
There is no doubt this is a story that will capture its readers once they get over the unlikely scenario of a prison governor helping his nephew to escape from a sentence for murdering his three year old son. David Burroughs maintains he was no the killer and needs out to pursue some leads with the help of his sister in law. The story is brutal as it unfolds. He believes that his son Matthew is still alive and that the body found murdered was another child, not his. Then there is the complication that his wife Cheryl went for artificial insemination unknown to him. So was this boy the product of that or is there another explanation? The story keeps revealing new information and can be quite complicated at times. It ends with a satisfactory outcome. There is not doubt this is a gripping read and I recommend it.
Harlan Coben is an unrivalled master story teller and this book is one of his many great reads. David Burroughs is in prison for killing his own son and after serving five years of his sentence a visitor's news changes everything. This an un put downable fast paced story that has many twists and turns that keep you guessing to the end.. A classic highly recommended Coben offering.
It's more Harlan Coben. He grabs you in the first chapter and takes you on a journey making you turn pages. The journey twists about with reveals that you don't see coming. Yet another good story.
Another rollercoaster of a read from this great author. I would argue not one of his best but still the story grabs you from the start and doesn’t let go until the very last sentence. I started to feel part way through that the story was similar to many of his other one off novels but that didn’t stop the enjoyment. Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for giving me access to an early copy of this book.
Harlan coben never disappoints! Was sucked in right from the start.
David is in jail for murdering his own son. Thing is, he didn't do it. He starts on a dangerous journey breaking out of jail, to find out what happened that night, and who has his son, who may still be alive. Is that possible?
Lots of twists and turns, was kept on the edge trying to figure out who did what and why. Absolutely recommend this book.
Thank you netgally for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
David Burroughs is in prison for killing his son, Matthew. He knows, or at least thinks, he didn't do it. But David's willing to do the time because he thinks he deserves to be in prison anyway. However, when his sister in law, Rachel, visits David she shows him a photo that calls into doubt whether Matthew is actually dead. And if Matthew isn't dead, where is he and why is David in prison?
So, here begins another fast-paced Harlan Coben book with many twists and turns and heart-stopping moments. Enjoy the ride!
Another fantastic thriller from the master that is Harlan Coben. Fast paced and gripping, I was drawn in from the first line and stayed up all night to finish it.
Outstanding storyline.
This sentence greeted me as I opened the book:
“I am serving the fifth year of a life sentence for murdering my own child. Spoiler alert: I didn’t do it.”
As you can imagine, I didn’t waste any time – I needed to find out what had happened and, if true, who had committed the murder.
David Burroughs is incarcerated at Briggs Penitentiary and has refused contact from his wife, family and friends – until the day he’s forced out of his cell to see his ex-sister-in-law, Rachel. She brings a grainy photograph of a child who looks the image of his son, Matthew. Seeing the photo, David finds the energy to live again and starts plotting how to find Matthew.
Harlan Coben never disappoints; I think this novel may be one of his best. The pace is fast, the storyline plausible, and the characters are easy to relate to and well-defined.
Bravo! Harlen Coben, you’ve aced it with this novel!

This book is action packed! David is serving time in prison for the murder of his son, but what if his son is still alive? The plot is pretty unbelievable but it's a thoroughly enjoyable, fast paced and entertaining read! Not my favourite by the author but an interesting read which I would recommend to lovers of thrillers. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.
Another masterpiece from Harlan Coben that I couldn't put down. It was fast paced and intriguing and although some of the scenarios seemed a bit far fetched it all added to the knife-edged tension which kept me wanting more.
Kept me up half the night. Fabulous read where nothing is as it seems. Full review will appear in my column.
David is in prison, convicted of killing his three-year-old son in a brutal senseless attack. What follows is a rollercoaster thriller ride as he attempts to prove his innocence. Along the way, the story involves various interesting and well-written characters such as the FBI agent Max, a shifty gangster figure Nicky, David’s sister-in-law Rachel, a journalist, and his godfather Philip, who, rather fortuitously, happens to be the prison warden! It’s difficult to say much about the plot without spoiling the story but suffice it to say it involves numerous twists which the author is famous for. It’s written partly in the first person from David’s point of view and partly in the third person which I think worked well. Some of the plot devices do strain credulity but overall I enjoyed it as it definitely made me want to keep turning the pages to see what would happen next. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an advance copy in return for a fair and honest review.
