David Burroughs is in jail, five years into his sentence for killing his son. He maintains that he did not do it but no one believes him. One day, in the middle of his bleak jail life, his sister in law Rachel visits him. She shows him a picture she found recently which she is convinced shows Matthew, his son, very much alive.
Should I say more about the story? Of course not. I really hate spoilers and I am not about to do this to other readers. But what I can say is that Rachel’s visit changes matters for ever. The story kept me reading quickly and until late at night, matching the fast pace of the events. There are lots of twists. Although some of them are a little imaginative, or even far fetched, it all works as a story.
As usual with Coben’s novels, very well written and with strong and interesting characters. I really enjoyed this book. I don’t say that because I am a Coben fan, but because this was a really great read.

What a fabulous book. It had me staying up reading way past my normal bed time.

David is in Briggs Penitentiary after being convicted of the murder of his 3 year old son. He proclaims he is innocent and is a broken man after his son’s brutal murder, not really caring for anything and refusing all visitors. After 5 years in prison his sister in law Rachel visits and shows him a photograph. Next thing David plans to escape from Briggs to find his son.

I loved the twists and turns and the unexpected curveballs. A tense fast read where you just want to know whatever will happen next.

Harlan Coben definitely did not disappoint with this book.

The prospect of a new novel from Harlan Coben always fills me with a delicious sense of anticipation. And you know what? He never lets me down. If anything, he just gets better and better. And in this latest, highly charged thriller, I’m delighted to confirm that his talents are once again on glorious display.

I Will Find You kicks off with the kind of outrageous premise that only Coben could pull off. David Borroughs is five years into a life sentence for the brutal murder of his three year-old son, Matthew, when he is shown evidence that the boy is still alive. He has always maintained his innocence, but there was a body, a funeral, a trial, so how could this be possible?

What follows, as David plans and executes an audacious jailbreak, then sets out to find Matthew, with the FBI hot on his heels, is a blistering, scorcher of a read. It’s vintage Coben. Layer upon layer of twists. A densely tangled web of secrets, lies and deceit. A plot so elaborate and perplexing, you can’t help but wonder how the heck it’s ever going to pan out.

It does, of course, but not before squeezing every last breath from your body.

As always, Coben gives us a protagonist we can cheer on. David is a compelling and convincing character: a father locked in grief, resigned to his fate, cast out from his family. Then, suddenly, he’s gifted this tiny seed of redemption, and his entire world shifts on its axis. He becomes charged, driven, prepared to put his own life on the line for the sake of his son.

It’s emotional, exhilarating stuff. Coben can spin a terrific yarn. But, there’s more to him than mere thrills and spills. Every book he writes has a teasing element of humour. Always dry, always when you least expect it. It’s what sets him apart from his peers. And in this case, it’s FBI agents, Max and Sarah who get their own comedy routine. It’s a brilliant way to ease the tension and change the pace of a story, and Coben has it down to a tee.

Brilliant plotting, brilliant storytelling, brilliant characters. All the stars from me.

Another bestseller from a Master storyteller. WOW! WOW! WOW! what a thrill ride this book is, it's absolutely brilliant, from the first page to the end, it will keep you on the edge of your seat and before you no it, you will be at the end, when you can finally take a breath. The characters are awesome, the plot is just out of this world. I can see another Netflix drama being created with this unputdownable, twisty, very suspenseful, PHENOMENAL read. I would highly recommend and I would give it more stars if I could.

A great story which keeps you captivated as you try and find out who is telling the truth and is all as it seems.

Harlan Coben has written many really great books but I think this may be his finest. The plot isn't complicated but with every page I read I had to remind myself to breathe out. The tension in the book is of epic proportions, every time David seemed to gain some ground, literally and figuratively, someone was snapping at his heels. Wish I could give it more than 5 stars

Harlan Coben is one of my favourite authors and this book did not disappoint at all. The first page drew me in straight away and I read it in one day as I couldn't put it down. Fast paced with plenty of edge of your seat action. I just couldn't wait to reach the conclusion.

David has been convicted for murdering his three year old son Matthew. He has always protested his innocence but the evidence against him put him behind bars.

After serving five years of his sentence, Rachel his former sister-in-law visits him in prison and shows him a photo of a boy who looks very much like Matthew.

David needs to escape prison and find out if the boy really is Matthew, but that's not going to be easy. He will need help but his freedom and life will be in danger.

One of my favourite reads of the year so far. Loved it.

Many thanks to Netgalley, the publishers and the author for an ARC.

Plenty of action in this one, though maybe it stretches the bounds of possibilty a little too far in places. The plot is fast paced, the characterisations of the main characters well done. Set in the US, there are plenty of guns and several different agencies on David's tail. Not sure about the ending, regarding the children (wouldn't there be more effect on them ?) but this is fiction after all, I suppose.
Thanks to Net Galley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review

David is in prison after being convicted of murdering his three year old son Matthew, despite his protestations that he is innocent. Five years later he is visited by his former sister-in-law who shows him a photo of a young boy who strongly resembles Matthew, very much alive. David sets out to break free from prison and uncover the truth about what really happened to his son.

This book had one of the best opening chapters I've ever read.

I was immediately hooked. The plot was absolutely brilliant, it was fast-paced and full of twists that I didn't see coming. As the story progressed I found myself more and more invested in David's plight. At one point halfway through I was even tempted to skip ahead and read the very last chapter because I was desperate to know how it ended (don't worry, I didn't!).

When you first meet David's character he is in a pretty low place because while he has no recollection of killing his son, everyone around him believes that he did. What was incredible to see in David was that "click" when he found out that Matthew might be alive and his whole attitude instantly changed. The sudden sense of purpose made him a fantastic character to follow.

I Will Find You is a complete must-read and definitely one of my top books for 2023.

Thank you NetGalley and Random House UK for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

Harlan Coben's books never disappoint and this one is a cracker. From the first page the reader is gripped and the hold is never let up until the end. Highly recommended. Love the characters and their development. A great read.

I love Harlan Coben’s writing. It’s smooth, fluid, fast paced and he writes characters so well. But you do have to take your disbelief, and wrap it in cotton wool before proceeding, because this brilliant pure escapism.

David Burroughs is in a Maine prison in maximum security, serving a sentence for filicide – the killing of his three year old son Matthew in a brutal, bloody fashion. He doesn’t remember doing it, but the evidence left little room for doubt and he had been having issues with his marriage and his mental health was impacting on his sleep.

He accepted his sentence, refused to see any visitors and eventually his wife moved on and re-married. Now, after 5 years, he suddenly has a visitor. His sister-in-law Rachel, a journalist with her own history of disgrace, has brought him a photograph. And that photograph changes everything. Because in the background there’s a man’s hand and that man is holding the hand of a small boy that he knows in his heart is his son, Matthew.

Now everything has changed and David will have to use all his resources to get out of prison and find his son – with only one photograph to help point him in the right direction.

There follows a whole set of events that lead in a plethora of different directions, putting lives at risk, introducing us to some exceedingly dodgy characters and taking us on a rollercoaster ride that twists and turns until we are so dizzy it’s hard to tell what is up and what is down. This book is certainly enlivened by two FBI agents Max and his partner Sarah, whose wisecracking approach to interrogation certainly produces interesting results. I also enjoyed the cameo appearance from lawyer Hester Crimstein.

There are lots of nicely done tropes packed into I Will Find You, from the mobsters with a sense of honour to the wife who may be hiding secrets from her husband and in the end it wasn’t all that hard to see where this story was going. But my, what a wild ride it is to get there!

Verdict: Fast moving escapism with lots of imaginatively drawn very bad guys, thrilling chases, more than one show down and a plot that twists and turns like a rollercoaster on steroids. Sterling stuff from Harlan Coben. Just right for a snow day when you wrap up in a duvet to keep warm and read to take your mind off the world. And we all need that now and again, right?

David Burroughs has been sent to prison for life for the murder of his own son. Five years ago he woke covered in the blood of his son and the evidence was overwhelming. David claims he’s innocent but only he believes that. He then receives a visit from his ex wife’s sister who shows him a photo that rocks his world and changes everything.
The picture is of a boy at a theme park who looks like his son, but it can’t be. However David knows it is.
David makes plans to escape, find his boy, clear his name and find out the truth of what really happened on the most devastating night of his life.
Harlan Coben has written a truly remarkable story with I Will Find You.
It’s one of those books you will find impossible to put down once you start reading it.
It’s a twisty fast paced heart pounding book with the author’s wonderful sense of humour throughout.
Coben really is the master of the unputdownable novel. Don’t miss out, it’s incredible.

Harlen Coben has a unique way of writing suspense thrillers that draw you in from the start.
When David Burrough is sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering his three year old son Matthew he has always pleaded his innocence.
But witnesses at the time claimed they saw him burying the murder weapon and his then wife believed that he had murdered their son.
With a sudden twist of fate Rachel David's ex sister in law now a journalist believes that she has evidence that Matthew is still alive.
Being lock up for five years for a murder if didn't commit has taken its toll on David especially when someone on the inside is out to get him.
The only way out is to escape but who can he trust on the outside and can he find out the truth about what happened to Matthew?
A fantastic edge of your seat thriller

I received this ARC from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author but I know everyone is obsessed. I’ve watched all the Netflix adaptations though and we binge watched them all when they dropped and couldn’t get enough and wanted more.

I stupidly started this on a Sunday night at 11pm when I had to be up early the next day, that was a huge mistake as I just couldn’t stop reading.

Imagine if you are David serving a life imprisonment for the murder of your only son Matthew you know you didn’t do it but you don’t know what happened that fateful night?.

5 years later your sister in law visits out of the blue and brings you a photograph that shows your son Matthew is alive and well. You would do everything in your power to get out and find your son and being him home wouldn’t you ?.

What an absolute triumph this story was, I almost couldn’t believe what I was reading and the 8 Months Later was just perfect.

Another excellent stand alone novel with an ever twisting and fast paced plot. Although the story line is on the edge of reality this book is a genuine page turner.
Harlan Coben never disappoints.

Overall 4.5*

I am not a huge fan of the word 'unputdownable' however in this case, the book certainly is. From the first page, it captures you and throughout the story, you are never quite sure which way it is going. Is it beyond the realms of possibility - perhaps but isn't that what fiction is all about? A great page turner and never a dull moment in the tale and with a fantastic ending too.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC to review.

Thank you Random House UK, Cornerstone, Century and Netgalley for this opportunity.. After reading a tons of Coben's book I was really excited to read this one. I was sad about the beggining to be honest but I like this father so much. His devotion and determination to find out what happened. After five years in prison his life is going to change again. He escapes and has some really difficult jobs to do. He also has few people helping him. First in line is his ex sister-in low. The one that always belived he was innocent and notice a crazy detail on a photo. And then the catch begin. The twist was great and that got me over of unbelivable start. If you are not bothered with that detail, you love action thrillers this is perfect for you.

There are a lot of innocent men in prison, if we are to believe what they say. But when there is strong evidence that someone has brutally killed his own toddler son, they just have to accept it, even if they have no memory of it. Until someone turns up with a photograph that may change everything.

This is the story of I Will Find You, a man believing that his son still lives. He is not seeking justice or revenge, he just wants to find his child. First though, he has to get out of prison. He chooses an unorthodox route over the solicitor method, but it's so much more fun this way.

A high action, fast paced tale, complex with many characters. In the beginning, the situation is told from the jailed father's point of view, in his voice and shows how the impact of the horrific event clearly leaves him dead inside. As the story unfolds and more characters become involved, such as the prison warder, FBI officer, sister-in-law, ex-wife and so on, the narrative is from their perspective and offers more depth.

Concise and expertly told, this book stretches the imagination at times, but it is never dull. The tension is always there and the moral ambiguity some of the characters face is expressed well. Themes consider what it means to be a father, truth and loyalty. An exciting, unpredictable thriller, written by an absolute professional in his field. Recommended.
