The best part of this book is the illustrations. I do wish they had left off the gold borders around every illustration because that makes it look self-published in a bad way. However, the story needs more work. It’s supposed to be a tongue-in-cheek look at a space mission. The otters launch themselves off but are not quite smart enough to realize they did not go to space, but just landed a few hundred feet away from where they left. They were lucky that everyone survives the crash landing. All in all this book does not work. The illustrations more than make up for the horrible storytelling, but it needs more work.

My six year old and I like this one, but didn’t love it. Lovely artwork, but slightly awkward dialogue and plot pacing.

The illustrations in this book are so cute, I really loved the art style and the double page spreads.
The story is very short restricted to single sentences per page but I felt it would benefit from more detail to help the story flow better and to match the illustrations.
I couldn't find a lesson in the story, this could have a really nice link to cultural differences or such like but it did have a funny twist to the tale that made my kids laugh.
A nice story but you will need some artistic license along the way when reading to children in my opinion.

HA! Such a cute book! Space otternauts launch into what they think is space and land on a “new planet”! Turns out that they landed a few miles from the launch point. Turns out all the strange “otter-like” inhabitants of the new planet all like cheesy chips just as much as the otternauts! Super punny and funny and cute! Illustrations and font were not totally consistent and the story was short, but I still liked it!

Thank you, NetGalley!

I read this book to my seven-year-old second grade daughter, who loves otters. I think this book would ideally before a younger audience.. There did not seem to be a lesson or a moral taught in this book, which was a little disappointing. The story was basic and could’ve use some more descriptive details. I also think some humor would’ve made this book a little more relatable to the audience. I would recommend this book to a child who loves otters, and loves to read books about otters.
