Many thanks to NetGalley, Hodder & Stoughton, and Grand Central Publishing for gifting me a digital ARC of the new thriller by Sarah Bonner. All opinions expressed in this review are my own - 4 stars!
In 2018, Helena is successful and married to Edward. However, she has to deal with his family issues, especially with his mother. She begins receiving notes threatening to reveal her secrets. Four years later, Helena's friend, Thea, begins investigating her murder, determined to prove that it was murder and not an accident. Then she begins receiving notes too.
Told in different timelines and from different POV, this is a twisty tale of domestic suspense. I liked how the author split the book into separate parts, each told in a different POV so that you gathered more depth into the characters. There was quite a bit to keep up with and you'll love to hate some of these characters - especially Helena's mother-in-law! Kept me intrigued to the end!
Thank you Hodder & Stoughton and Netgalley wish I'd read this sooner.
Revenge is certainly served in this book.
A really brilliant read, read in 1.5 days as couldn't put it down.
Without a doubt 5 stars - you have to read this.
This is a clever read. A brilliant dual timeline that keeps you thinking who is the good? And who is bad? You’ll keep swapping. I read this in 2 days whilst off work and it was fabulous.
Bit of a slow start but lots of twists and turns to keep you interested in the plot throughout. I did feel the ending could have been a bit pacier but it didn’t spoil my overall read. A mix of characters and a dual timeline. Would recommend. 4⭐️ from me.
Two women receive an anonymous note.
For one it's a threat.
For the other it's an invitation for revenge.
Helena is beautiful, successful, and living in married bliss in Exeter. But she's hiding a secret that could tear her perfect life apart. When the notes begin to arrive, she realises someone else must know her secret. But what might her husband and his overbearing family do if they find out the truth?
Thea is reeling from her best friend Helena's death. But when she starts digging into the circumstances, she receives a threatening note warning her to stop. She knows her friend's death wasn't an accident. This was murder. And she is determined to get revenge . . .
This is my first read by the author Sarah Bonner and I was impressed. I enjoyed this read, I wanted to find out what was happening and was pleased that there was many twists and turns in this book, you never know who is seeking revenge on who and who knows what. The ending slightly dragged hence the 4 stars but overall it was really good.
Properly gripping with twists and turns when you least expect them! I loved the characters in this and felt they were developed just enough to make them likeable and relatable, although not too much to detract from the thrilling plot.
Fantastic!!
I could not put this one down, the perfect psychological thriller with so many twists and full of unsavory characters.
Written from multiple POV's and different timelines, this will keep you on the edge of your seat.
A great plot full of twist & surprises, blackmail, secrets and the Ultimate revenge, another winner from such a talented author.
Fast paced and full of tension i was on the edge of my seat the entire times. I didn't know what to think or who to trust
Thank you to Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book in echange for an honest review.
I was looking forward to reading this book as the debut book wasa good one. Unfortunately, I didn't like this one as much as the first. Complex in places, with a complicated plot with plenty of twists and turns. Still a recommended read.
Thanks to Hodder and Netgalley for my copy of this new book by Sarah Bonner
This was a good read, told from mainly two points of view and across two timelines. It flowed well and had plenty of twists and turns as Thea tries to figure out in 2022 how her best friend Helena was murdered in 2018. I enjoyed this and would recommend it as an enjoyable thriller for fans of the genre!
Secrets and Lies ruin lives. When Helena starts receiving threatening letters from an anonymous person about the secret she is hiding from her husband and mother in law, she’s terrified someone is out to destroy her perfect life. Her friend Thea starts getting letters but hers are opportunities for revenge.
I have read both of Sarah Bonners books and really enjoyed them. This was an easy to read but exciting thriller broken into four parts and told from the perspective of four different people. The story turns with each character we get to know and I honestly didn’t know how it was going to end! A very enjoyable summer read.

This was such quick twisty read. I really enjoyed The Perfect Twin last year, but I loved this one more. This is one of those thrillers you just can’t put down. Full of mystery and intrigue it will keep you guessing to the end.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
❤️ Thanks to @hodderbooks @netgalley for a #gifted advanced reading copy.
Wow what a read. Absolutely loved this book. Couldn’t put it down.
Would recommend.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to read this before the release.
I was so super excited to read this one after loving Her Perfect Twin and this book did not disappoint! It was full of what every thriller needs. So many twists and twirls! I loved that the book flipped between Helena and Thea. I never saw any of it coming, the book was always one step ahead of me! Great book and I can't wait for more by Sarah Bonner.
I absolutely loved Sarah Bonner's "Her Perfect Twin" and while I didn't love this one quite as much, it was still a crackling good read. Helena is a woman who seems to have it all, other than a very difficult mother-in-law. She is receiving threatening notes, but what does she have to hide? Several yeas later her friend Thea is struggling to come to terms with Helena's death and doesn't believe it was an accident. She decides to find out what happened and soon receives threatening notes of her own. This was suspenseful and twisty and while not necessarily completely believable, it was lots of fun. This author is quickly rising onto my "must read" list.
Whilst I enjoyed the concept, I'd guessed something really early on. Then as the book progressed there were more viewpoints thrown in, which at times felt a little muddled. Then the ending didn't wow me either.
I loved the first book by the author - Her Perfect Twin however this fell in a no category for me.
It might just be so please go ahead and read this. Wishing Sarah Bonner amazing success for this and looking forward to her next work.
Probably I might go back to this sometime later.
Hope everyone else enjoys this since I have seen raving reviews.
Thank you Hodder & Stoughton and Netgalley for this arc. I was buddy reading it with my friend Lily and we had really a great time. We could not stop, we just needed answers.
A page turner starts with a life of an influencer that has a perfect life but then all collapse. And I was really sad to be honest but anyway the story was good and twisty. Full of secrets that make a mystery good even was not what I hoped for. You really do not know who you can trust.
A deliciously twisty page-turner!
I became a fan of Sarah Bonner with her debut - Her Perfect Twin last year & I immediately jumped at the chance to read this one.
Thanks NetGalley, Hodder & Stoughton for the ARC in exchange of an honest review.
Two women, two timelines - both receive anonymous notes. One is a threat & the other being a chance at revenge.
I thought this was a brilliant premise for a mystery thriller!
As we switch between the POVs of Helena in 2018 leading up-to her death & her best friend Thea in 2022, who seeks to uncover the truth behind her sudden demise, we get to know the background of Helena's life, the state of her marriage, her troubles with her haughty curmudgeon of a mother in law & the trail of notes that begin to haunt her.
With Thea's narrative, it is the guilt of her not being there for her best friend at the most stressful time of her life & now her her anger that has turned into the desire for vengeance for she suspects foul play with Helena's death.
Although the book felt a little too slow placed with lack of action & too much of spite for the mother-in-law in the first half, it really takes off at about 60% where the plot smartly takes shocking twists & turns, which were next to impossible to guess.
That's when I couldn't put this down & kept reading late into the night. My need for answers was so overbearing, I just had to compulsively get to the end!
The ending ensues chaos, confusion & lots of drama - the author cleverly hides red herrings & I was amazed at how it all unfolded, making my jaw hit the ground with the finale.
A great entertainer of a thriller , which only demands a little patience until about half-way. Stick with it if you want to enjoy the ride!
Her Sweet Revenge by Sarah Bonner.
