Her Sweet Revenge is a wild read that I did enjoy.
Thea and Helena have been friends since school, they are living on opposite sides of the world due to work commitments. Helena has met her perfect match, a wealthy business man who is devoted to his mother. Helena starts receiving notes from an unknown source that say things like “ we know your secret” eventually leading to money changing hands to keep them quiet but as usual they want more and more money. A tragic accident occurs and revenge must be dealt, Thea is the woman for the job especially as she has received a similar letter.
This was a good read, if you want to read something believable this probably isn’t the book to choose but if your open minded to a bit of far fetched revenge you’ll love this. The characters are a mixed bag, some you love some you hate which is always good. I felt Helena’s husband could have had a bit more about him but that was my only niggle character wise. The ending was good and left no questions unanswered.
I would like to thank Netgalley and Hodder and Stoughton for this ARC I received in exchange for an honest review.

This story was totally gripping and twisty. Sarah makes quite a clever and complex plot easy to follow through very distinct character voices and the overall structure of the story. I became increasingly interested in the plot as the story began, and loved how so many strands fitted together. The ending definitely made my heart race. There are so many elements here that have been used in this genre - blackmail, multiple perspectives, death mistakenly treated as accidental, but somehow Sarah combines them in a way that still feels fresh and exciting. This was my first read by Sarah but it definitely won't be my last. This is a masterpiece in revenge!

After reading and loving HER PERFECT TWIN, I knew I had to get my hands on this one, and it did NOT disappoint!

The plot started out pretty simple as a story unfolded from alternating points of view from two dear friends, Helena and Thea. Helena is a gorgeous woman who married into a wealthy family. She and her husband have decided they don't want children, but a complication arises when her bitter father-in-law makes a change to his will on his deathbed...the family fortune will be held in a trust until an heir is produced. Helena's bitter mother-in-law Geraldine is determined to know why her husband left her penniless. Meanwhile, notes begin arriving to Helena hinting of knowledge of her secrets. Since Helena has many, and they all could destroy her life, she is desperate to whatever it takes to keep her secrets her own.

Tragically, Helena dies, and her death is chalked up to a freak accident, but Thea strongly suspects otherwise and begins to dig. When she too receives threatening messages telling her to back off, she is more determined than ever to find out what happened to her friend.

The further this story went, the crazier it became. Sure, most of the events were implausible, but if you can't suspend disbelief while reading thrillers, you won't enjoy them. The characters were SO deceptive, each one having their own hidden agenda. Just when I thought I had everything figured out, the author threw me for another loop. I thoroughly enjoyed this twisty, entertaining read that reminds the reader that revenge is a dish truly best served cold. Many thanks to NetGalley and Hodder & Stoughton for this early read. HER SWEET REVENGE will publish in the US September 5, 2023.

Helena has what seems to be the perfect life. She is married to Edward, who dotes on her, but their happiness is marred by Helena's difficulties in dealing with her interfering mother-in-law Geraldine, who constantly reminds Helena that in her opinion, Edward married beneath himself.

Helena also has secrets that she has kept from Edward. So when she starts receiving threatening anonymous notes, she becomes really worried.

Meanwhile, Helena's best friend Thea is living a continent away. And while she does advise Helena on what to do, and is usually available for her friend, Thea is unable to help Helena in more concrete terms due to the physical distance between them.

The story is told in dual timelines, from Helena's perspective in 2018 and Thea's perspective in 2022. The themes addressed in the story include social media influencers, blackmail, toxic relationships (with family and/or friends), guilt and regrets, secrets and lies, and the all-too-human yearning for closure.

There are plenty of twists and turns in this book to keep the reader guessing, and the second half of the story is a roller coaster. Some of the elements stretch credulity, but the tale is an entertaining one. And if you can suspend disbelief, this is definitely a wild ride worth taking!

Oh, dear. I’m sorry to say that this new offering from Sarah Bonner simply didn’t work for me. I’m so disappointed, as I absolutely loved her debut, but I struggled even to believe that this was by the same author.

For me, there are two lines in the sand when it comes to thrillers: First, the characters must be convincing. They don’t need to be likeable, but they have to behave like real people. Second, the plot must be believable. If it isn’t plausible, it isn’t thrilling.

Sadly, Her Sweet Revenge ticked neither of these boxes.

From the beginning, I found the narrative hard to get into. It felt fragmented and unfocused; whole sections just rambling distractions. What’s more, the premise felt very forced; I couldn’t get on board with it. Then, about half way through, the plot took a nosedive into complete farce. And that’s where I gave up.

I honestly don’t know if this was fixable. Certainly, a good edit might have tightened up the narrative. But the plot was all over the place, and the characters needed a lot of work to make them credible.

I know other reviewers have been very positive in their feedback, so maybe I’m being super picky. But I read this with two buddies and we all felt the same.

My feelings aside, I fully expect this book to find its audience, and I wish Bonner every success with it.

4.25⭐️

I loved Her Perfect Twin, so was keen to see what the follow up had to offer.

Helena and Thea have been best friends since school, now separated by a Continent.
Helena dies, supposedly an accident, Thea is not convinced, determined to investigate her friends death. Both women receive the same anonymous notes.

It is told by both Helena and Thea’s points of view, and split time frames.
It has the tropes of toxic family, bad decision making, secrets, and revenge.

I like that it pushes the boundaries of plausibility, it adds excitement. It gets wilder in the second half.
There are characters to love and hate, some I was indifferent too, some are overtly suspicious. I liked Helena, not all of her decision making was sound, but that pales into insignificance as the book progresses.

I have to say that I found the book a wild ride, very imaginative, implausible sounding, but very entertaining. If you can go with the flow I’d recommend it, it has good entertainment value. If you want realistic ( it’s over rated in fiction) I don’t think this one is for you.

What a fun, twisty tale of revenge! Fast paced, believable characters and a clever storyline. I absolutely devoured it - it was so fun to read. I wasn’t sure how things were going to pan out which made the reading experience a brilliant one. I haven’t read Sarah’s debut but I certainly will now!

After reading Sarah's debut novel last year (The Perfect Twin) I just had to read this as soon as I could and I wasn't disappointed.

Helena has the mother-in-law from hell who thinks her son Edward could have chosen a better wife.

After Helena dies in a tragic accident, her best friend Thea is convinced it wasn't an accident and seeks revenge.

Without giving too much away, everyone appears to have secrets and not everybody is who they say they are!

Written in five parts from the points of view of the main characters.

Just as I thought I had worked out who, why and how, another surprise popped up, ending up with a totally shocking twist which I didn't expect.

Blackmail, secrets, lies and revenge all together in a twisted plot. What more could you ask for?

I can't wait to read more from this author in the future.

Many thanks to Netgalley, the publishers and the author for an ARC.

Secrets and lies ruin lives

Helena and Thea have been best friends since school and, although they haven't seen each for a few years as they live in separate countries, Thea is always on the end of a phone when Helena wants to have a rant, which is quite often and usually about her overbearing mother in law Geraldine. But Thea wishes she had been more of a friend when four years later Helena is dead and Thea knows it was no accident, she also knows that she'll stop at nothing to get revenge for her friends murder...

Her Sweet Revenge is told across two timelines beginning in 2018 with Helena's story and the huge secret she is keeping from her husband and his family, a secret that someone else seems to know as she starts receiving random threatening notes, fast forward to 2022 and we hear from Thea who, by this time, has moved to the UK to discover the truth about her friends death. Alongside this other characters stories are intertwined which, when pieced together, all fit very neatly. This is a fast paced read with an intriguing concept, lots of twists that kept me on the edge of my seat throughout and some very unsavoury characters, but revenge was most definitely sweet. I loved this authors debut novel, Her Perfect Twin, which I read last year, so I was excited to see she had a new book out and this one didn't disappoint either. I highly recommend this latest five star read.

I'd like to thank Hodder & Stoughton and Netgalley for the approval, I will post my review on Goodreads now and Amazon on publication.

A gripping and entertaining story.
I did like the story but i must say it wasn't as good as her first book Her Perfect Twin but that will not stop me from reading her next book.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this digital ARC.

After hearing great things about the author’s first novel Her perfect twin. I was excited to read a copy of his Her Sweet revenge by Sarah Bonner.
Helena is a successful businessman and married into a wealthy family. She is married to Edward and their family own a private members club called ‘The Grange’. The couple are more interested in their careers than having children. But when Edward’s father died. They find out that his will has been changed and to get any money they need to have a child to pass it down too. Because of this it causes an even bigger risk, especially with Edward’s mother who is self-centred and only thinking about the money.
When an accident happens, Helena ends up dead. Was it an accident though or is there something else going on?
Thank you, Hodder & Stoughton, for a copy of Her Sweet revenge. I have mixed feelings about this book. Yes, the story started strong and was intrigued about the story with Helena. But when we hear the part about her friend Thea getting revenge on what happened to Helena. The story line waned and got so messed up. I didn’t think anything made sense and I lost interest. 3 stars from me.

I'll start this review by saying that I was so very excited to read the second novel from this author, as I absolutely loved their debut novel back in 2021. So my expectations were set high for this one.

Unfortunately, this didn't live up to the hype that the first book had. Sadly, not by a long shot.

Let's start with the positives: the first half of the book was a real page turner. It had the tension and the mystery to keep you wondering what was going on and you genuinely wanted to keep on reading to ultimately reach that finish line. The characters had the right amound of shadiness to their past that made you want to discover more about them. Especially on the second half of the book, there was one particular character, which I thought could actually have an entire book for themselves.

However, with that being said, and despite the first half of the book being an absolute brilliance, the second half, was an absolute mess. The plot felt all over the place, poorly edited, things that didn't stand and made a lot of the things that happened in the first hald of the book not make sense, loop holes popping left right and centre. It was a lot. One after the other, which made everything feel too farfetched and unbelievable. And sadly, ultimately, by the time you reach the end everything felt so over the top, you didn't even care to reach that finish line anymore.

The saving grace in all of this however is the writing. This is an author I would buy from again, as the writing is so compulsive and good, it did kept me up reading this book till 2am. So that, at least shows me that despite the messiness of the plot, the writing kept you going.

Definitely has it's fair share of twists and turns, and if you don't mind an unbelievable plot and you're a fan of the genre, then definitely include it in your TBR.

Kindly thank you to the publisher for accepting me for an early review copy.

Last year, The Perfect Twin by Sarah Bonner was one of my favourite books of the year.. I was excited to see what she had in store for us next and boy did it deliver. I wish I could have read this in one sitting, it was extremely binge worthy. So many twists and turns in this juicy revenge thriller.

In the first instance, we learn Helena's story. She is beautiful, successful and happily married into a wealthy family. But Helena has a secret that could destroy everything. And when she starts getting anonymous notes, she is scared that she will lose it all.. Years later, her best friend wants answers. She knows that Helena's death was not an accident, but how does she prove it?

Her Sweet Revenge is such a clever and addictive read. There were moments that I gasped out loud. Sarah Bonner is incredible at drawing you into the story, you care about some characters, hate others. But what is the truth? You gotta read it to believe it.

Thanks so much to Hodder and Stoughton for my advance reading copy of this book. Easy 5 stars. Publishes on April 6th.

WOW!!! This was really good!!! Didn’t expect this at all!

In 2018, Helena is at odds with her mother in law and starts receiving blackmail notes. When she finds out who had blackmail her and before it’s too late, she was plunged to death.

In 2022, Helena’s friend Thea believes that Helena was murdered although the police ruled her death as accidental. Thea is determined to find who killed Helena and seek revenge…

This was fast paced thriller and towards the end it got more and more interesting! I was literally hooked into this thriller and I feel this book is better than Sarah Bonners previous book Her Perfect Twin. The chapters were all unreliable, the story itself was unpredictable and the author managed to keep the reader at the edge! Overall this was a twisted psychological thriller that will keep you up all night worth 5 stars!

Many thanks to NetGalley and Hodder for the ARC. Review is based on my honest opinion

Wow, this was an amazing follow up to Sarah Bonner's debut Her Perfect Twin! It's a complicated story based on revenge, and towards the end the twists come thick and fast! Each chapter is told from a certain characters pov, so as long as you know who's talking you're OK! I don't want to include any spoilers so I won't go into the story, but it's written in a really engaging way that draws you in and won't let go! Great if you've ever had a critical MIL or similar!

Oh my goodness. This book!! Thank you @netgalley @hodderbooks and @sarahbonner101 for the ARC e book of her sweet revenge.

This is the first book I've read from this author and its keep me on the edge of my seat. Whilst there was a certain character that made me feel on edge but I did not guess any of twists that came. I fell in love with Helena and Thea's friendship and I loved Thea as a character in general.

This is an easy 5 star book as I desperately needed to find out how everything linked.
Thank you to the publisher @hodderbooks and @netgalley for my advance copy in exchange for the honest review.

What a tangled web this book is, anonymous threatening letters and blackmail are making Helena's life miserable, her secret she's kept from her husband has been discovered and someone wants to make her pay. 4 years later her friend Thea wants to discover the truth about what happened to Helena. And revenge as they say is a dish best served cold.
This was an enticing read, I read it over a couple of days and only put it down when real life got in the way. Many twists and turns make this an ideal psychological thriller. I'm sure it will be as successful as Ms Bonners first book
Thanks to Netgalley and Hodder and Stoughton for the advcopy for which I'm under no obligation to review
