Don't read this without tissues! it had me howling with tears, genuinely sobbing. The character of Lou is relatable and feels like someone you know. The book is written so well it makes you feel invested and part of the story. This one really sucked me in.

Lou and Nick are such likeable people that with each iteration of their 'last chance' encounter you can't help but become more emotionally invested in their relationship. The book is skilfully written, deepening and building in each version of the same timeline that tugs hard on the heartstrings. But this is much more than a romance. It's the growth and healing of two people who are also perfect for one another.

I'd actually give this a 3.5
I love time loops, I love the way that Sarah constantly weaves you to another point in the story.
Whilst I love a good time loop and sliding doors esq moment, this didn't have a wow factor. You'll have to read it to understand if there is a happy ending!

I love a good friendship/romance read and this one was on point. I will be honest it had a little bit of everything. Jost has a way of weaving the words to break your heart, but she helps put it back together at the same time.
I highly recommend this one.

This is a ground hog day time loop story which unfortunately I could not fully get into and I felt I was unable to connect the the main characters. I felt the start was very slow which did throw me off majorly.

What if you had the chance to go back and rewrite everything? That happens to Lou when she finds herself suddenly living her life from two years ago.
Heartbroken when the man she's in love with announces he's to marry someone else, could this be her chance of finding her happy ever after especially when someone keeps cropping up time after time.
A story of the unexpected, of being given a chance of being happy this is my first book from Sarah Jost and it won't be my last.

a beautifully written love story lived over and over and again on a loop with each time finding out more and more about the characters. a book to curl up and lose yourself in!

This sounded right up my street so was excited to start. However I could not get into this at all. I love a time loop story but this one I could not connect with. I struggled to follow the story.

It’s been so long since a book properly made me cry. With this, I was sobbing through the last couple of chapters. So heartbreaking.
This Groundhog Day format can get so tired and cliched, but not here at all - such an interesting take on it, because Louise doesn’t live the same day, or even the exact same time frame over and over, she just begins at the same place. And I loved, truly LOVED, that she isn’t totally aware of it like in other novels that have used this. It starts off as very faint deja vu and we’re just a confused as her for a while. I love that she only realises what is happening to her very gradually. I hoped that Nick would become monumental in her story, but we are kept waiting a fair bit to find out. The first time that she realises she likes him and goes back and has their first romance together is just so lovely. When they realise they love each other, it’s too sweet.
I actually felt like I’d been punched in the stomach on like the third or fourth time around when Louise runs away to Thailand. When she realises she’s back at the start again and thinks that she just can’t meet Nick and that will maybe help everything, but she bumps into him when running away from the pub - it’s just a really powerful moment of fate. And after it all, when she goes on social media for the first time in a long while and there’s a message from him anyway - urgh. And then, THEN, when it turns it Yuki has been with Nick all this time this time around… I couldn’t handle it.
I also loved how subtly the idea that Nick has been going back as well was introduced. I didn’t click on to that until much later and it was satisfying when I realised it. Of course he has been, that’s why he’s drawn to her but he also feels it as a sort of deja vu. Again, that’s a new take on the Groundhog Day set up as the protagonist is usually so isolated.
Another thing that makes this so unique is the ending I suppose. In the Groundhog Day trope the character usually has this epiphanic moment and learns what they were meant to and then proper order can be restored, which usually results in the happy ending. Oh no, not this. It’s heartbreaking, hence the sobbing for the last few chapters. But the realisations for Louise and Nick, while devastating, are still so profound and beautiful ❤️
I just loved this and know I’ll be thinking about it for a long time.

What a beautiful and special book. The time-slip concept is brought to life with brilliant writing and well rounded characters. I loved how the structure weaves back and forth in an almost cinematic fashion and with every twist and version, you feel yourself drawn closer to Lou, experiencing each one of her mistakes and her missed chances as keenly as if they were your own. An excellent debut and I can't wait to discover what Sarah Jost writes next.

This book is really unique. The premise really intrigued me, and I really enjoyed reading this.
I must admit, it took me a little while to get used to the writing style and the structure of the book - but when I did I was gripped!
I was happily plodding along, and enjoying my reading experience and was taken aback by the ending. It actually really hit me quite hard, and was really heartfelt and emotional. Came out of nowhere, but it was really special. I was sure this book would have been a 3*, but after the heartfelt ending and the fact this book has stayed with me for a while after finishing, I had to give the book 4*.

Lou is a Swiss national who moved to London to teach after her boyfriend broke up with her. Nothing seems to be going right for Lou, she's single, her flatmate has moved in with another (better) friend, she can't control her class at school, her ex has just announced his engagement, and she's increasingly estranged from her younger sister Marion who is caring for their mother.
We first meet Lou as she accompanies her former flatmate to the funeral of Nick, someone Lou barely knew, having met him only once two years earlier at her flatmate's birthday. Feeling uncomfortable at being at a funeral for close friends and family only, Lou makes a series of awkward faux pas, which culminate in her passing out. But when she comes to, it is two years earlier and she is about to enter the pub for her ex flatmate's birthday drinks. At first Lou isn't aware that she has travelled back in time, but each time she returns things change, both because of Lou's agency and because of other people's actions. One constant in every time hop is that it ends with Nick's funeral.
I found this difficult to get into at first but by the end I loved it and I really couldn't tell how it would end. Initially I thought it was because the author is herself a Swiss national and I imagined that her phraseology was slightly off to a native English-speaker. However, I now realise that it was also partially to demonstrate Lou's social awkwardness, her lack of confidence which too often came across as indifference or self-absorption. In each time hop Lou learns more about her friends and family, about herself, about the way people can hide their feelings and insecurities in different ways, about love, and about heart-breaking loss.
I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

I also looking forward to this one from the Blurb but I found it a really slow burner and the character a little hard to connect to.

What a beautiful and thought-provoking read. One Last Chance is a stunning time-loop romance that gives main character Lou the opportunity to do what most of us will have wished we could do at some point or other - to go back in time and have a chance to do things differently. Rather than one shot at rewriting her life, Lou gets five chances, and with each one she makes a series of different decisions that take her life off in different directions.
What I really loved about this novel was how Jost presented the time loop element in such a subtle way. It felt highly original and was beautifully done. Not only did Lou's character grow as she went back in time and began to focus on what really mattered in her life, but the time loop element grew too, allowing for the plot to develop in surprising ways. And Lou! She's such a lovely, relatable character who is so lost in the opening chapters, it's impossible not to fall in love with her. I raced through the book because I was desperate for her to finally work out what she wants in life and to find the happiness she deserves.
Jost not only does a superb job with Lou but with all the characters in this touching novel. I loved how Nick and Yuki and Lou's family back in Switzerland are all given their own stories and there are some really beautiful moments in the book when Lou's relationships with her friends and with her mum and sister shine through, alongside the romance.
I won't give anything away about the ending but it's definitely one of those rare novels that leaves you simultaneously crying and smiling by the last page. This is a wonderful, beautifully crafted story that I will be HIGHLY recommending.

I wanted to read this book because of the premise of the story but I didn't connect with the character and found it a bit slow going. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for letting me review this book.

This was a simple, fun, easy and quick read. The perfect type of book for your holiday, beach, pool kind of read.
The E-Book could be improved and more user-friendly, such as links to the chapters, no significant gaps between words some text written has been typed in red and a cover for the book would be better. It is very document-like instead of a book. A star has been deducted because of this.
This is a first for me by the author and one I enjoyed and I would read more of their work. The book cover is eye-catching and appealing and would spark my interest if in a bookshop. Thank you very much to the author, publisher and Netgalley for this ARC.

One Last Chance is Sarah Jost's debut novel, an updated version of Groundhog Day. It features Lou, a woman from Switzerland living in St Albans, stuck down the wrong life path and regretting a decision she made two years ago that had monumental consequences. She goes back in time to that moment and gets to live out alternative versions of her life in the hopes of succeeding at one of them.
This book had potential and I was intrigued by the blurb; however, I did not finish it. I stopped at 10% because I did not connect with the main character at all; struggled with the with the writing style, which I felt contained odd phrasings at times; and found the many French phrases in Lou's narrative difficult to understand. While I struggled with this book, I think it might appeal to readers that have an understanding of French and an interest in Switzerland.

Oh this book had such promise. Although I just wasn't a big fan of the writing style and I couldn't find myself connecting to any of the characters and so sadly this book didn't work for me. But it's probably just me and other people will love it.

One last chance was a gorgeous read. I love books that show different outcomes and what could have been.
Lou was a great character very relatable and I could emphasize with so many of her thoughts and feelings throughout the course of the novel. Some stories are very predictable or can get very repetitive esoecialky when told on a loop, but the writing was engaging and fast paced. I anxiously awaited to see how the story would play out. I wasn’t disappointed one bit. It kept me hooked and interested and I loved this tagline
“Lou is about to realise that the greatest love stories aren't the ones we expect, but the ones we choose to fight for.”
Highly recommend
Lou feels like she is stuck on the wrong path. Alone, in a city far from home, watching other people being happy. When the man she's in love with announces his engagement to someone else, Lou is consumed by 'what ifs'.
Then she finds herself slipping back in time to a night two years ago, where one small decision changed everything . . .
Suddenly, Lou has a chance to fix her mistakes. But as she finds herself stuck in a loop, living out alternate versions of her life, her choices lead her down roads she could never have imagined.
And in each life, she notices her path intersecting with one person again and again . . .
Lou is about to realise that the greatest love stories aren't the ones we expect, but the ones we choose to fight for.
