I loved the authors first book, so was excited to read the sequel.

It reads well as a standalone as there’s a catch up on the happenings of the previous book, it was also a good refresher as I’d forgotten as it’s been awhile since I read the first.

72 yr old Miriam is found wandering the moor in a bloodstained nightie clutching a knife. Her adult son is found dead back at home.
Miriam is saying nothing, so they dig into the family for clues. Ally is included in the case unofficially.

Plenty of twists and turns with a decent plot and pace. With Ally being on leave still this one feels more like an amateur sleuth whodunnit than CSI main theme.
I didn’t find the characters very likeable. Penny a minor character was probably my favourite.

I enjoyed it, I’m not sure why, but I didn’t love this one as much as the first book.

CSI Ally Dymond is still on compassionate leave from the incident last year where her daughter nearly died at the hand of a predator killer. She is asked to help out on a case where a lady, Miriam, is found in the middle of the night in the countryside, dressed in her nightgown, holding a blood dripping with blood. Back at her farmhouse, her son, Gabe is dead, stabbed multiple times.
Ally’s daughter is still friends with drug dealer, Jay, much to Ally’s dismay, but as his live takes a downturn when his father kicks him out after an altercation, Ally decides to help him out and let Jay live with them temporarily.
When investigating Miriam’s family history, some dark truths are unraveled, but is it all as it seems.
A fast paced ride for Ally, and she starts investigating all the crimes, rather than sticking to her area of expertise, crime scene investigation. I liked how this story follows closely to the first book, Breakneck Point and would be beneficial to read that book first.

CSI Ally Dymond #2

In the dead of night, seventy-two-year-old Miriam Narracott is found wandering on Exmoor, holding a knife and covered in blood. Inside the family farmhouse lies the body of her adult son Gabe. CSI Ally Dymond is on compassionate leave, but when approached by the new DI, recently arrived from London and eager to have Ally's keen eye and local knowledge on the case, she finds herself being drawn back in. With their only suspect Miriam unwilling - or unable - to talk, the team must dig into the family's history to uncover a motive instead they find evidence that Gabe was involved with a criminal network, suggesting a completely different chain of events. But if Miriam isn't the killer - then who is?

Ally Dymond is investigating the murder of a farmer while trying to deal with her own personal problems. This is a fast paced read with lots of twists. This is a complex read and it kept me on my toes. Along with the murder investigation, we get another investigation into a suspected drugs ring. With strong, likeable characters, I had no clue where this story was taking me. I liked the authors writing style. I was quickly pulled into this book, and it didn't let me go until the end.

I would like to thank #Netgalley #HQ and the author #TinaOrrMunro for my ARC of #SlaughterHouseFarm in exchange for an honest review.

Slaughterhouse Farm is the second book in the Ally Diamond series by T. Orr Munro which is set in Devon.

The book builds on the promise of the first book in the series with another good underlying main plot although once again I felt that the pacing was a little uneven at times.

Saying that it was an overall enjoyable read and is recommended.

Narracott farm is called Slaughterhouse Farm because of the slaughter house that used to be there. When bloody murder takes place, it ironically fulfils its name. A most complex story of murders with domestic and personal relationships merging with murder investigations taking place on the side. As usual nothing is what it seems, and all is resolved with surprising results.

Ahhh I loved it!!!

2nd instalment, as good as if not better than the 1st. I really enjoyed being back with Ally and her friends. The story was so well developed and plotted that even though we were on the sidelines of the police investigation there wasn’t a moment of boredom or FOMO.

The characters and the dynamics of their friendships/relationships really made this book more me - I was interested in the domestic as well as the murder investigation side which made the book feel so full.

The authors writing style instantly puts you at ease and although it’s told with a jumping timeline it was easy to follow, understand and enjoy!

With thanks to #netgalley #hqstories and the author for allowing us to read this one early!

RELEASING: May 25th

Another gripping instalment in the series! That said this could easily be read as a stand-alone book.

Ally and Megan are recovering from their last trauma when they find themselves embroiled in another murder investigation!

Ally is a CSI on leave following an attempt on her daughter, Megan’s, life (in the previous book). SIO Helen Moore has asked for her opinion on a murder case. Ally becomes more embroiled in this case than she would like!

A brilliant continuation of the series and a gripping plot line.

A must read.

After reading the first book by this author Breakneck Point which I devoured in one sitting and was a well deserved five stars. I jumped at the chance to read their latest.Ally the main character really comes into her own in this book. Still debating what she wants to do with her life after the horrendous events that happened last year. Her daughter was groomed and almost killed. Ally was also a whistle blower for police corruption.
There is a new DI who asks Ally for her advice on a case and soon she begins to realise how much she misses her job as a CSI. Full of read herrings, had me constantly holding my breath and forever changing my mind who I was responsible. This series is going to be another MUST READ. I can't wait to read the next book. Highly recommended.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in return for giving an honest review.

Having read Breakneck Point I was really keen to get this book and I was not disappointed. CSI Ally Dymond has a lovely character and brings a wide diversity to the story with her almost outside of the box thinking. It was a fast paced book with many many twists but the final twist just beat all the rest. It was a complex plot which was well developed and kept me on my toes all the way through.. I look forward to the next bookin this series.

Thank you to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

The is the second instalment of the Ally Dymond series. Ally is a CSI in Devon, and mum to Megan. In this book we open with a farmer, Gabe, who is found dead on the kitchen floor on his farm, called Slaughterhouse Farm. Gabe’s elderly mum, Miriam, is found walking down a road covered in blood, holding a knife. Clearly it’s an open and shut case. Until Ally gets involved.

This is starting to become a really strong series. Ally is a great character, fearless, yet vulnerable, especially when it comes to her teenage daughter. The plot is really well thought out, and I really enjoy the writing style. There’s many subplots in this book, but all of those bring this story together really well. I can’t wait to revisit Ally in the next book.

Second forensic thriller in the Ally Dymond series.

In the aftermath of the traumas suffered by Ally Dymond and her daughter, Megan, in “Breakneck Point” “Slaughterhouse Farm” is a fast-moving and compelling story of how long-buried traumas and abusive relationships can lead to crimes decades or even generations after that initial trauma.

What unravels is not one thread of a single mystery, but a web of interlocking crimes committed by different people from three generations and several families and for a wide spread of reasons, which means that the pressure on CSI Ally Dymond and her family, and the tension for the reader, never let up till the very end. This wouldn’t be an Ally Dymond story if it did! And if you don’t know everything that’s going on, how can you ever know who to trust?

This is a very good read, but so much goes on that you more or less have to read it from cover to cover in order to keep everything in your head.

A thoroughly enjoyable read with many threads that all converge into one producing a very satisfying storyline.
The characters were well rounded, and the main character likeable and believable with a complex and interesting backstory. Her own family dynamics are interwoven into the tale and she faces her own past demons and ethical decisions based on her personal life. The crux of the story remains a mystery, tantalisingly to the end and we are led on several believable alternatives before coming to the conclusion. I didn’t guess any of the twists and turns so I consider that also to be a bonus.
I would definitely read more by this author as I loved the writing style and am invested in the characters and would love to see them progress.

What a crazy ride, really enjoyable read,

I love a flawed and unreliable central character and this book gives you that.

The story comes together well and the ending is enjoyable.

I was a little lost as I did not read the previous installment of this series. Overall I did enjoy the story itself and found it engaging. I am looking forward to more from this series and author

I liked Breakneck Point and loved Slaughterhouse Farm, a twisty and complex thriller that kept me turning pages and on the edge.
There's darkness, there's a groups of interesting characters, and there's Ally that I like.
The author delivers a fast paced and tightly knitted plot, a solid mystery that kept me guessing.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this arc, all opinions are mine

An elderly woman is found on a lonely road late at night, holding a knife and covered in bloodstains. The police trace her back to an isolated farmhouse where they find the body of her son, Gabe. Miriam Narracott appears to be in some kind of trance so the police assume she killed her son, but is it that cut and dried.
Even though CSI Ally Dymond is officially on leave from her job, DI Harriett Moore asks her to look over the case. Ally is local and Harriett thinks her knowledge may help solve the case. But Ally is dealing with her own problems and helping the DI might not be the best idea. As the investigation progresses long held secrets begin to emerge that could endanger Ally and those she loves.
A complex story full of twists and turns, this is well written and gripping.

I didn't realise this was book 2 so I haven't read the first one. I did enjoy it but I found it a tad confusing so I think it would have been better to read the first book to get the background story. It was a fast paced storyline with twists and turns to keep it interesting which made it very hard to imagine how the book will end. I will look to read more by this author.

I read and enjoyed the first book in this series and this one was equally as good. I did make a note about the character who turned out to be the killer quite early on in the book, so I was on the right track from the get go, I felt this book to be quite slow moving and once again I question the likelihood of a. CSI officer getting as involved as she does in both these books. I still think the series would be more believable if Ally was a detective.

Having said that, it was a good read with an interesting story and a twist at the end, if you didn’t see it coming!

My thanks to the Author, the publishers and to NetGalley for an advanced e.reader copy of this book. The review is voluntary and entirely my personal opinion.

I have not read the first book which features Ally Dymond so would advise readers to read it before this one. I found the plot confusing but the characters (if a little too many) were well defined. For my taste it was not particularly engaging. Thanks to Net Galley for ARC.
