After inheriting her aunt’s house Susie is enjoying living alone and finding out what she likes. She’s less pleased when the contractor coming to do work for her turns out to be the best friend of her ex, the man who humiliated her in public. An awkward conversation gets worse when he pulls a divorce certificate out of the wall with their names on it dated ten years in the future.
Whatever’s going on we have two quite different characters who have to learn to trust one another…and who have to work on forging a relationship that will see them through tough times.
The characters were cute together, though the delay in them moving out of the friend zone felt a little too long. The story itself was just bizarre, but if you suspend your disbelief it’s an entertaining read.
Thanks to NetGalley for giving me the chance to read and review this before publication.

Unfortunately not for me. I tried to read it but didn’t get on with it, put it down and unfortunately didn’t come back to it

I don’t think I have yet read a Kylie Scott book I didn’t enjoy and this book just once again proved how good a romance Kylie Scott can write.
I adored this book. I might go as far to say that Lars has overtaken Mal as my favourite Scott Hero!!
This book is a contemporary with a touch of the paranormal – with Lars and Susie finding a divorce certificate dated 10 years in the future with their names on it. The paranormal element was not overblown and served as the catalyst for them both beginning to spend more time together outside of “ex and ex’s best friend” or “home owner and contractor”.
Whilst trying to discover just what is happening, they become reluctant friends, to real friends, to denying that there is something there – to simply being inevitable!
This is a book driven by the characters and how they overcome the obstacles they themselves have put up to be able to have the relationship they both hope is possible between them.
Susie has been burnt in the past, from both ex partners and family and needs to learn to trust in Lars and herself, and Lars, well, he has a plan, a very specific plan that does not involve feelings for his best friends ex…even if said best friend is a bit of a dick.
I just adored how the relationship grew and evolved and experiencing them falling in love. Lars was a great character – sturdy, strong, reliable and damn hot!! Susie was sarcastic, funny, a little bit sassy and just downright brave in how she was willing to learn to trust and stand up for herself with her toxic family.
I was so disappointed when I had finished it – that I went right back to the beginning and simply read it again straight away!!

It was a very cute, fun and a light hearted read. The characters were entertaining and the story had me engaged throughout my entire read. Overall I really enjoyed it

When Susie hires a contractor to help fix up the house she's just inherited, she doesn't expect her ex boyfriend's best friend to be the man who turns up. Or for him to almost immediately discover a divorce certificate hidden in a wall. A divorce certificate dated several years in the future, that details the two of them as the tragic couple ...
Although I loved the premise, this romance really didn't do it for me. I liked the characters well enough but they just didn't feel like they fit together. Not a book I'll be rushing to go back to!
I received a copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review

This book hit my sweet spot - it was perfection. Grumpy x sunshine with just enough need to suspend disbelief. I loved the premise of the future marriage certificate mysteriously appearing. The development of Susie and Lars’s relationship was just adorable, it moved at the perfect gradual pace. I found both characters so lovable and endearing in different ways. Basically I loved everything about this book ❤️

I think I missed something with this book.
It has so many amazing reviews but it just didn't do it for me. I liked Lars, I liked Susie... I just wasn't feeling it.
I was expecting some sort of The Lake House romance, something grand and one of a kind but it was just an average connection between two people who were sort of forced into facing their feelings for each other.
That said, I would read another by this author, it was well written and funny in parts, it just wasn't the book for me.
