This Sherlock Holmes story is one I know well so it was great to see it in manga form. I thought the drawings were really detailed and the narrative was true to the original story.

Unfortunately this was a DNF for me, simply because of the quality of the ARC that I received. The characters were instantly recognisable as the actors from the TV show, but the lines in both the drawings and text were broken or blurry in some way, which made it a real chore to try to follow what was happening. I received another comic ARC from the same publishers the same day which was in colour and must closer to the final version, so I don't know what happened with this one. I reached out to the publishers a number of weeks ago in case there was an error with the ARC I had received and they might have a better copy they could send me for review, but I haven't heard back from them so am just going to DNF and move on.

This review is purely a reflection of the quality of the ARC, and I am sure not at all representative of the final product, so I will not be posting the review anywhere else other than here on NetGalley.

I kind of was expecting more from this part. Unfortunately I didn’t read part one, so I don’t know if that is the reason why I didn’t enjoy this as much I felt like it just followed the exact same story that every other Sherlock Holmes does although it felt very authentic to the movie and the series I was expecting more to be honest I was expecting a little bit more insight in to the character had a thought process and a little bit more why he’s the way he is. This might just be because of it’s expecting too much out of this. The more it was giving blood between t This might just be because I was expecting too much out of this. The more he was giving, but between the description on the cover, I think it promised a little bit more than what it gave. I think there was no character progression through relationships for the little flat and I just didn’t really feel for the book

Not my favourite… expected much more about the graphic’s.
I have watched the series in the past, but while reading I did not have that thrill as I expected. A bit disappointed…

If you ask me what’s better than seeing Benedict Cumberbatch take on the role of Sherlock Holmes, my answer is simple: reading a graphic novel off an animated Benedict Cumberbatch taking on the role of Sherlock Holmes! I was happy to see that the graphic novel has the same speech lines as the live version. This made the reading experience almost the same as watching it on TV… except the moving part ;)

Special thanks to NetGalley, Titan Books, Titan Comics, and the editorial team for giving me the opportunity to review the ARC, and to you, my reader, for taking the time to read this honest personal book review.

I had high expectations for this book because I love the TV series. I have to say that I am not too keen on this one. I have seen this manga series before, so I am not sure if this is because it is an ARC but the pictures and the words are all rather blurred and difficult to read. I have to admit that I did not finish reading this mainly because it is so blurred. If it is because it is an ARC, then I hope the publisher will understand and trust reviewers to not share the copy with others and provide them with a clearer or at least more readable copy.

I really am sorry to have to leave a far less than positive review on a book but this one is really not readable.

This wasn’t what I thought it was going to be. I was expecting a stylised or abbreviated retelling of the BBC adaptation, when instead it is a near shot-for-shot recreation of the episode. Even the dialogue is replicated word for word, or close enough, and I could tell that despite the fact that I haven’t watched the episode since it aired. The plot is great but it is quite literally just the same as the show.

As well as this, the artwork is slightly odd. I wish it had been more personalised or closer to an anime style and not the half-measure realism determined to just look like the actors. It ended up looking almost glitchy or creepy since too many details are added to try and make it as close to the frames of the episode as possible. There are several panels where the background just becomes tv static, or the characters have missing pupils when the facial features all melt together.

All in all its perfectly serviceable, but a lackluster experience in comparison with just watching the TV show.

Thank you Netgalley and Titan Books for this advanced copy.

This manga gave me an urge to re-watch the series again. Well, Scandal in Belgravia was one of my top 3 favorite BBC Sherlock episodes, the other two was The Reichenbach Fall and The Final Problem. And this manga perfectly adapted the TV Show. Jay's art definitely beautiful. I've been collecting this manga in another language and have been waiting for this to get published too.

One thing that I really love about the manga was a perfect amount of effect screentone's usage in background. Jay's work was really great since They didn't put a lot of screentone to build the suspense effects in the background, Instead Jay used the great lighting effect, blocking and kept drawing the background beautifully. This was just perfect. Well, you know, as a comic artist, drawing background was a pain in a**, so we prefer using effect screentone as background. Especially me lol

Ah, I think I am gonna re-watch A Scandal in Belgravia again and watching get "Sherlocked" once again.

This comic book reminded me how great the Sherlock series was and how much I missed it! The illustrations were good -the characters were very similar to the actors- and the plot entertaining!
I recommend for any Sherlock Holmes fans!

I have always and will always love sherlock as a whole, the series, the comics and the original pieces. This wasn't my favourite storyline but I am a sucker for the study in pink always. As usual the comic illustrations are INSANE, so well detailed and beautifully created. I love sherlocks conversations and mannerisms with everyone. Didn't really see alot of John in this part 2 which was a shame

I really miss this series and this graphic novel made me relive something i lived when I saw the show for the first time.
The story follows the tv show and the characters are very similar to the actors.
I like it and it was recommended.

Many thanks to the publisher for this arc, all opinions are mine

It's the second part of Sherlock - A Scandal in Belgravia in manga form. I was interested in seeing what a translation of the TV show into manga form would look like, so I asked for an advance copy.

I wasn't disappointed. The characters were all very recognizable, except maybe for Mycroft and Lestrade, but I certainly recognized Irene Adler, Sherlock, Watson, Moriarty, and Molly Hooper. The manga doesn't stray from the source material. While reading it, it's easy to hear the TV show actors voicing their parts and even the music playing in the background.

I can wholeheartedly recommend this manga to absolute fans of the show and manga aficionados. It's nothing outstanding manga-wise, but a lovely addition to any Sherlock merchandise.

I’m not much of a comic book/ manga reader but when it comes to adaptations of well beloved tv shows or movies, I’m a sucker for heading to the comic books to relive aspects of the show in a new format.

The Sherlock Holmes tv series lends itself really well into graphic form, not just with the stories and characters, but with the accompaniment of the stunning artwork so amazingly adapted, it makes for a super fun read. Especially when it’s based on a show you know and love so well and the scandal in belgravja episode was one of my favourites. Well, the whole series is a solid favourite but this one had reams of intrigue, deception, mystery and Sherlock Holmes deduction skills at their finest.

It’s a must if you’re a fan of the show, a lover of graphic novels or love Sherlock Holmes. It’s an effortless, easy and enjoyable read with many more to read in the collection too to enjoy!
