So I must admit I had to go back and read the first book FireKind and then I came back and read this one. It picks up pretty close to where the last one left off so you didn't miss a beat. The writing is done beautifully and the character development is done well It continues to follow the journey of poppy and thom as they find their way back to one another. The book is fast-paced and full of action and will keep your attention as a reader. I will say that I wish Poppy and thom could have spent more time together and that the ending completely broke me overall this was a very good book.
I received Firedawn as an eARC through NetGalley in exchange for my voluntary, honest review.
Fantasy has been my genre of choice this year and Angela did such a great job of picking up right where she left off in Firekind.
This book will have you in its grips from the first chapter. The growth of Poppy, the story building the plot, and finally a story without a toxic romantic relationship was the perfect recipe for a stay-up-all-night-and-devour-in-one-sitting read.
Would recommend the add to your TBR for all my fantasy reading friends!
I reread FireKind and then jumped right into FireDawn. It picks up pretty close to where the first left off so we don't have a huge gap of time to guess about. I also enjoyed being able to spend more time in Caelith.
The ending was heart breaking but I loved it.
I've got my fingers crossed that there will be a book 3 that gives resolution to things that were left hanging in this book.
I was so lucky to read an early copy of this story and I loved every second of it. This book is a journey-both literally and emotionally-following Poppy and Thom as they find their ways back to each other after the events of Firekind, book 1 in this epic series. The writing is gorgeous with Crocker’s signature flowing prose, sublime descriptions, and fast-paced action. I couldn’t put Firedawn down, and I want to thank the author so much for my early copy. Poppy and Thom forever!
I received Firedawn as an ARC. Angela is such an exciting author! Sometimes I worry that young adult stories may bore me as I’m in near 30 but that did not happen at all. I was addicted to both Firekind and Firedawn within the first chapter.
I love the world that Angela created in there books and the map that’s included is very helpful! The adventures and all the different magic made this an excellent read.
It was interesting to read about a non toxic relationship; made it a bit realistic. The only thing I didn’t like was how little romance we actually get to see when so much of the story is revolved around Poppy and Thom.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this book, almost as much as I enjoyed the first one. Watching Poppy grow as a character that stands up for herself and what she wants was so lovely after the first book where it felt like she didn't have as much control over her own destiny.
The ending? HEARTBROKEN. My heart still hurts. I loved it though.
SPOILER ZONE AHEAD
[ I really wished Poppy and Thom spent more time together throughout the book, since they are only reunited at the ~70% mark. I wanted them to have more time together to really grow the relationship, since it felt kind of mashed together into the end there. (hide spoiler)]
Overall, I recommend this book for sure
