I ate this up!

This book catches you from the very beginning. I was worried it would start off slow but I was happily surprised. This was a trope I didn't know I needed.

Rowan is a newly single father that also co parents with the mother. They move to Sugarbush Bay to be closer to Rowan's grandma. Delilah moved to Sugarbush Bay a year before to be closer to her brother and niece. Rowan walks into the cafe Delilah works at and sparks fly. However, they are both going through a lot of different emotions because of their parents.

I loved going through their journey of forgiveness, love, family, acceptance, and learning who they are now. There was a lot I could relate to when taking care of a baby. I am not a single mother but so many fears and discouragement that Rowan feels, I could relate 100%. It was refreshing.

Ok this was SEXY. The chemistry was off the charts with these two almost instantly and I loved watching that develop.

I do think everything happened very quickly but I think it was the nature of the book and it portrayed how quickly you can become so obsessed and in love with someone.

I rated this 3.5 stars!

If you're looking for a heartwarming romance novel that will leave you feeling uplifted and inspired, look no further than Therese Beharrie's latest book about a single dad in Cape Town. This novel is a beautifully written story about Rowan Quinn, a devoted father who uproots his life to give his son the family he never had.
Through the help of his grandmother and the kindness of a determined waitress named Delilah Huntington, Rowan learns that family is what you make it. Delilah, a former heiress turned Sugarbush Bay waitress, strives to build a better life and recreate herself. She is one of the strongest forces that motivates Rowan to immerse himself into the town's circle of single dads, through introduction of her brother, Matt, which sparks the 'single dads club' and gives Rowan the support he needs.
Though the slow burn that develops between Delilah and Rowan is wholesome to read, the most notable part of this novel is the honesty of parenthood challenges. It is no walk in the park and these dads share the tidbits and life lessons that helped them navigate their paths in fatherhood. We watch Rowan take in these lessons and apply it with his own insight, which is informed by his fears and anxieties. However, through the support of his newfound community, he is able to begin to quell those and his doubts about his fathering and his life. Beharrie incredibly illustrates the inner workings and facets of Rowan's mind, which adds much important context to his decisions.
This tight-knit coastal community will make you want to pack your bags and move there yourself, for the banter alone. Her characters are so well-developed and relatable, you'll find yourself rooting for them every step of the way. An amazing feel-good read that has me hopefully anticipating a series featuring the other dads and Kirsten.

Rowan never expected to become a father, and certainly not after one night with a woman he hardly knew. But while he and McKenna might not be right for each other, they're both determined to do right by Declan. When they move from Cape Town to Sugarbush Bay, Rowan finds himself struggling with fatherhood and an undeniable attraction to Delilah, his beautiful neighbor who is battling her own demons. Along the way, he finds a community, particularly in Delilah's brother Matt and his friends Corey and Lucas who are also single dads.

I picked this book up largely because I loved the idea of this club of single dads helping each other through the ups and downs of fatherhood. So I was pretty disappointed that the focus was on the romance between Rowan and Delilah and less on the dads, we only really ever get a sense of Rowan's challenges outside of a few anecdotes about the others..

I did like reading about his relationship with McKenna, and how they were both determined to be there for Declan but still struggled with their choices and the complexity of their relationship. The supporting characters really shone in this story and I wish we had gotten more of them.

For a story set in South Africa, we didn't get much about South African food, or culture, or anything really. Apart from the references to Cape Town, it sometimes felt like this could be set in any small town.

Overall though, it was a light, easy, slightly steamy read and I thought it set things up well for a series with the other dads. Since I loved the supporting characters, especially Matt with his gruff personality, I hope that's really the case..

Single Dads Club by Therese Beharrie focuses on Rowan and Delilah, our main characters, and how they navigate their respective pasts and develop new long-lasting bonds, along with new feelings that they develop over time.

With the support of his grandmother, Rowan hopes to provide a better life for his son. Moreover, he wants to work through the trauma he suffered from his parents. This is the very reason he uproots his life and moves to the small coastal town of SugarBush Bay in order to make a fresh start. It is there that he meets Delilah. She is so kind, welcoming, and helpful, and makes him feel like life will be great for him in this new place. This is once he meets her at the coffee shop/cafe. In the same vein, Delilah, too, hopes to work through the traumas of her past as well as overcome the burdens of her traumatic past.

It was the premise of this book that led me to request it, but when I first started reading it, it felt longwinded. However, once I finally sat down and focused, I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a light palate cleanser for those who have read some heavier stuff.

This book was enjoyable to read and I enjoyed several aspects of it, such as the loving community, family bonds, and growing friendships. Although I enjoyed both Rowan and Delilah, I wish Rowan would just stop thinking of every possible wrong and go with the flow (though I understand why he wouldn't). The romance (not much to me personally) was fascinating and the self-discovery of both characters, as well as their helping hands, made the book enjoyable to read. Delilah's love for Declan shines through in virtually every interaction she has with him.

Despite the feelings of unworthiness, this story shows how you deserve kindness and find your way to love and happiness even when it is challenging.

"Single Dads Club" is a beautiful and emotional romance novel that will tug at your heartstrings and leave you with a warm and fuzzy feeling. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a heartwarming and uplifting read.

This is a cute romance that presents a different reality to the usual 'nuclear family' trope. I particularly appreciated the diversity of the family experience presented, especially because it breaks the mold a bit, which I think is very much needed. Readers come from many different backgrounds and experiences, and it's nice to see that reflected in genre romance fiction.

This was a very very adorable read!! I loved reading about the residents of Sugarbush Bay!!

Rowan and Delilah’s relationship was so slow, but they had explosive chemistry since the moment they met!

The author wrote about the struggles of parenthood/ single father’s so well!! I was really invested in these characters.

I LOVED delilah!! she was such a cutie. And her relationship with her brother was so sweet, i was about to cry!!

I will absolutely check out the author’s future works!!

I liked the plot and all the characters, however the slow pace and being written in 3rd person, it took me a while to read this book and struggled to pick it up and keep reading. Both MCs have issues/fears from their past that they're trying to overcome, and their fears end up holding themselves back from getting together. There is a lot of back and forth of 'oh we're happy, and we'll be together' to suddenly 'oh actually I cant be with you' and honestly I didn't mind it too much but just wished they got together and stuck with it a lot sooner

This was amazing and very cute. The characters were interesting enough to hold my attention span throughout the entire read and the plot was fun!

It started out great! The first half of the book was funny and sweet, i fell in love with every character, delilah, rowan, all the side characters too.

I felt like there was something missing in the second half of the book, everything happened so soon and although there were some scenes i loved (when the 'single dads club' was together or the scene when delilah and matt talked about their past) i just didn't like the romance between delilah and rowan and expecially rowan's feelings and behaviour towards her most of the time.

One of the things i appreciated is the fact that one of the main topic here is the social anxiety and all the psicological consequences of rowan's and delilah's experiences.

All in all it was a good book and i thank net galley for the opportunity of reading this arc.

This book has done something that I rarely ever see in single parent (especially single father) romances. It portrays the realities (not all sunshine and rainbows and “part time parenting”) of parenthood, but especially single parenthood.

It’s got everything to make it a good read! I definitely enjoyed it and will love to see what the author comes up with next.

After unexpectedly becoming a single dad, Rowan uproots his life from bright Cape Town to move to a tight knit small town in South Africa where, with the help of his grandmother, he has a shot of giving his son the best life possible. But when he meets Delilah, a secret-former-heiress, she becomes determined to give him the support he needs by introducing him to a group of fellow single dads.

This book definitely wasn’t what I was expecting. I want to say that I loved Delilah, and her brother, Matt! I really enjoyed both of them as characters. Delilah reminded me a lot of myself, but much more adorable! And I also enjoyed the single dads club aspect of the book too! That was fun & I enjoyed those characters as well.

However, my main complaint with this book is that I hated Rowan & I did not root for the romance. She liked him so much, but he didn’t like her for most of the novel. He only thought of her two ways: lust & “ooo she can help me out”. She was constantly doing sweet things for him and I felt like he used her, and she allowed that. He was just horny and a user. He was more concentrated on parenting and past trauma from his childhood, which is understandable, but why was this a romance if he wasn’t thinking about her romantically?? This would’ve been better if it was marketed as a contemporary about him and his parenting journey with a romantic subplot. He was also just incredibly selfish when it came to her and he had a very judgmental moment in regard to her that rubbed me the wrong way. Overall, she deserved so much better. This also wasn’t as lighthearted as I thought it’d be. It’s filled with thoughts of self loathing, again understandable, but definitely not the tone I was expecting.

Overall, I just really didn’t enjoy this book as much as I thought I would. But if there are books following other characters that I actually liked, I might check those out.

TW: past parental neglect

My first read by Theres Beharrie and boy was it cute! A funny romantic comedy about a Rowan a single dad trying to find his way and Delilah being just the help he needed. This love story is entertaining yet still very realistic. Worth the read.

This was a charming and ultimately very sweet story about a single dad and a down on her luck heiress who fall in love. It's sweet and wholesome, and I really liked the community spirit that runs throughout the novel. Sometimes it really does take a village to raise a child. The romance itself was very wholesome, and I particularly liked the conversations revolving around Rowan and trying to be a good parent.

However, I think this was just a little bit too saccharine for me. There wasn't enough drama, and while that's perfect for some people and their romance it's not really my kind of story. This one is firmly a comfort read, and while the writing is really well done, the story itself just wasn't me for. I'll defeinely look out for more stories by this author however.

I really enjoyed Single Dads Club. We have Rowan who unexpectedly becomes a father and Delilah who is literally the girl next door. Both have been neglected as children and it was nice to see how they are working on themselves to heal as adults. It is fun to see how they get to know each other and figure things out. There was a little spice towards the end!

This feels like so much more than just a romance book. It touches on topics of fatherhood, childhood trauma, and even family issues. Even with that being said it isn't a heavy book, it is a cute and quick romance read. The story is told from dual POVs that include both main characters that are featured in the book.

Rowan is a single father who recently moved to Sugarbush Bay. Because of his upbringing, becoming a father was never in his plans. But once that happened, he vowed to be the parent he never had, but this leads to him isolating himself and living in self doubt. At a cafe he frequents, he meets Delilah, a former heiress turned waitress. With her help and the help of the Sugarbush Bay community, Rowan is able to break out of his shell.

Delilah’s world fell apart, and she moved to Sugarbush Bay, where her brother Matt lived to start over. Over the course of a year, she experienced the kindness of a community who welcomed her. When she sees Rowan struggle to assimilate into the small town, Delilah extends that kindness to him.

This was my first book by this author, and it was an enjoyable read. An aspect I loved most of this story is the sense of community. Everyone helped each, through the good and the bad, and I really liked that. The saying, “it takes a village” really presented itself in this story. I loved the development of the friendship between Rowan, Matt, Corey, and Lucas. They really helped Rowan navigate being parenthood and being a single father. Delilah’s relationship with her brother Matt was fun as well. Matt was being a true big brother.

I also enjoyed the romance between Delilah and Rowan. I appreciated it was a slow burn, considering Rowan’s introverted personality (which I relate to a lot). This allowed him to become comfortable and be able to open up to Delilah. Once he reached that level, they could talk about their childhood upbringing. However, I wished there was more romance, especially at the end.

Overall, really enjoyed this and would read more from this author.
