"Rebel Girls Rock: 25 Tales of Women in Music" is an absolute gem. This book is packed with inspiring stories that celebrate the incredible women who’ve rocked the music world. Each tale is a perfect blend of empowerment, creativity, and perseverance.
The book does a fantastic job of highlighting diverse voices and genres, from punk rock legends to pop icons. One story that really stood out to me was about Sister Rosetta Tharpe. The way it captures her pioneering spirit and incredible influence on rock 'n' roll is just awesome. It’s amazing to see how she broke barriers and paved the way for so many artists.
The writing style is super engaging and accessible, making it a joy to read for both young readers and adults alike. Plus, the illustrations are vibrant and add an extra layer of fun to each story.
If you're looking for a book that’s both educational and entertaining, "Rebel Girls Rock" is a must-read. It’s a powerful reminder of the impact of women in music and is sure to leave you feeling inspired and ready to rock!
Lovely book for young readers which would make an excellent addition to any classroom or home bookshelf.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for letting me access an advance copy of this book in exchange for my review.
My daughter loves Rebel Girls and their books are always so inspiring for young girls. I would always recommend them and their books.
We absolutely love the books, in this series. It is full of strong, independent women, who were willing to push boundaries. It was great to read this book, in the series, and really get to dive into the musical side of women leaders. My kids absolutely loved it. I enjoyed sharing with my daughter to show her the strength of women and my son to show him anyone can achieve. Brilliant illustrations and lovely vivid colours.
Rebel girl books are great for people of all . In this installment you can learn about the women of rock.. Little known facts of several rockers.. Learn about Lizzo and Dolly Parton . Scan codes to learn more on app Great for young girls. Recommend for schools and libraries
My daughters (6 and 8) love the Rebel Girls series. The both love music and we devoured this new rock version. These books are great at teaching the history of women to my daughters. I love how they make girls feel empowered to be whatever they want to be and show the history of the women who paved the path for the next generation of girls/women! I will be buying this book for my kids to have on their bookshelf.
"Rebel Girls Rock" is an inspiring book in the Rebel Girls series that highlights women in the music industry. It features musicians, singers, producers, and conductors from different backgrounds and genres. Many of these women have faced challenges in their lives. Readers can discover famous rockers, musicians, and singers who broke barriers and showed what women can achieve in music.
Loved this! I love all the books in this collection and this is another great addition. It covers a wonderfully diverse group of musicians (both in terms of what kind of music they do and where they're from) and it will be so inspiring to young readers, especially young girls. The art is beautiful and it covers a lot of people I haven't even heard of. This would make a great gift!
Rebel Girls Rock: 25 Tales of Women in Music is another wonderful edition to the collection of female centric series.
This book focuses on some of the most inspirational women in the music industry such as the young and wild drummer Nandi Bushell, or country music icon the vivacious and extremely talented Dolly Parton (surely now the Queen of Country by now?) and one of the most incredible female rock icons,Joan Jett. I loved how diverse the music stars who are featured are from age, to genre and instrument of choice. There should be for the reader, someone that they cam relate to or admire but each artist will have something about them to learn from.
The artwork as always is wonderful and I love how bright the book is. My only concern as a parent with Irlens syndrome that affects how he can read with white pages or certain fonts, is that it may be a little too bright for children with any reading impairments. (This came directly from my son who wanted to have a look at the physical book.)
Come tutti i libri di Rebel Girls, questo volume sposa storie emozionanti e femministe con disegni semplici ma memorabili. Li leggo sempre con mia sorella e non potrei che esserne più felice
I am a big fan of these specific books from REBEL GIRLS. This book has a huge array of diverse musicians, both well known ones as well as lesser known artists. There are young ladies who are in various areas of music as well. It takes us on a journey through different genres and geographical locations.
The book is easy to read and the summaries are concise. The illustrations are beautiful and compliment the information perfectly.
This book includes a wide array of diverse musicians. Some were very familiar like Selena and some were less like Tia Fuller. The summaries are concise and easy to read, great book to pick up at any point.
LOVED! Perfect for the little girls in your life. It’s wonderful for them to read the words from powerful women that rock. Show them what they can grow up to be.
I love music and so I was thrilled when I was given a chance to review this book. I have heard of a few of these musicians I was thrilled to be introduced to new artists to listen to. I love how informative this book was and the different illustrations for each of these women. This book is perfect for young readers, especially young feminists and musicians.
I've really been enjoying these more focused installments in the Rebel Girls series, especially since they can appeal to people who are looking for specific themes that are more focused to their interests. As always the art is amazing and I really like the variety that is always included in the styles that are represented. Another thing I really enjoy about this series is how they make sure to include people from different cultures, ethnicities, walks of life and more - there's always a really good balance of people included and I feel that you will always be able to find at least one individual that resonates with you, if not more!
I was really excited to read this book, but it still surpassed my expectations! Based on some of the women on the cover I was expecting to see quite a few familiar names and faces, but there were many women that I wasn't familiar with. There was an incredibly diverse group of musicians included, ranging from Selena to Lizzo. One of my favorite things about this is that not all of the women represented are singers. Some work in other areas of music so even girls who don't dream of performing can see the places that music can take them if they're passionate.
I love that there were stories of women from different genres and geographic location so a lot of girls can see themselves in these pages. Rebel Girls is one of my favorite series and I've always said that these books are the perfect gift for any young girl (or boy!), and this book is no exception.
Rebel Girls Rock tells the stories of 25 women in the music industry. The women are musicians, singers, or music executives.
I was familiar with many of the women, such as Dolly Parton, Joni Mitchell, and Lizzo, but most of them were new to me. Evelyn Glynne is a Scottish drummer who is deaf. She creates music through feeling the thumps of the percussion instruments. Jody Gerson is the CEO and chairman of Universal Music Publishing Group, and works with artists such as Lady Gaga and Halsey. Laura Jane Grace is a trans punk rock singer, songwriter, and guitarist who found confidence through creating music. I loved learning about these inspiring women in music.
Rebel Girls Rock is a must-read for anyone interested in the music industry!
Thank you Rebel Girls for providing a digital copy of this book!
Another fun and brightly illustrated Rebel Girls book. This one focuses on musicians. From well known stars like Dolly Parton and Lizzo, to more obscure artists like Les Filles de Illighadad and Tia Fuller, this quick read showcases a wide variety of women in the music field.
Like all Rebel Girls books, the illustrations are fantastic. The quick summaries on each artist are interesting and clearly written. This is a fun addition to the series. I will happily continue to pick up Rebel Girls books, and recommend them to young girls.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Getting to see all of the powerful women in music who were mentioned in this book made me really happy. I've honestly listened to a good main of these women at one point or another in my life. I did learn about a few women that I had never heard about and it peaked my interest in learning more about them.
The graphics that were used for each woman or women talked about were very eye catching.
I feel like any young girl who is interested in music should read this book to see that even women can be powerful in music.
I loved these bite-sized bios of amazing women in music! There was a wonderful variety--from current big names (Olivia Rodrigo! Lizzo! M.I.A.!) to timeless musicians with established, fruitful careers (Dolly Parton! Joni Mitchell! Queen Latifah!) to lesser-known female musicians who broke through barriers we don't talk about enough (Big Mama Thornton! Evelyn Glennie! Laura Jane Grace!), this book has it all. I loved the representation in the book and the brief descriptions for each--I can totally see a kiddo becoming interested in a musician in this book and doing further research.
