Rebel Girls are back again with a group of strong, talented women who used their gifts to change the world. I love the variety of women highlighted in the book. There was also the special touch of women who did not get a full spread but received acknowledgment at the end of the book. This is another book I cannot wait to grace the shelves of my classroom library.

Thank you to @netgalley and the publisher for this free eARC.
As usual another great book about powerful women in the world. This time the focus was on musicians - powerful ladies - Dolly Parton, Big Mama, Bjork, Selena to Queen Latufah, M. I. A and Blackpink.
Keeping it short but still informative, this is another great book for girls to learn bow to empower themselves and not give up in today's world.

I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

Rebel Girls Rock is a fantastic addition to the Rebel Girls series and showcases the stories of some inspirational women in the music industry. The illustrations are amazing as always, and my favourite was Dolly Partons. Each female has a two page spread about them and sets the stage for children, teens, and even adults to learn about these inspirational women and then follow on delving into the lives and careers of them. Some of the pages had a code to scan to listen to more information. The host of females represented in this book are both fierce and impactful, and not all were overly familiar to me, which I loved as I love learning about new kick ass women! I found it a diverse collection and enjoyed the meet more rebels snippets at the back of the book and further ideas on how to make your own music, produce playlists and more!

I’ve come across a lot of books by Rebel Girls, but this is the first time I’ve had the opportunity to read one, and I felt really excited about that. I love that they publish so many collections of biographies about women and the ways they’ve impacted the world. That’s such a great thing to celebrate.

So, REBEL GIRLS ROCK contains 25 one-page biographies of women in the music industry. I loved seeing familiar names on their list, like Ella Fitzgerald, Dolly Parton, and Lizzo. I also loved learning about women in the music industry who were new to me. Though most of the women in the book are musicians, there are producers and DJs as well.

Rebel Girls has an app that can supplement the stories in the book, too, which is a cool idea. I didn’t know anything about the company that makes the Rebel Girls books until I looked them up as I was writing this review. The Los Angeles Business Review has an article that does a really good job covering the Rebel Girls founders and company goals.

The reading age for this book is a little younger than I expected, but I think it’s very well targeted for readers in middle elementary school. The biographies are told in story form and just long enough to hit some high notes. A perfect step up for readers who loved the She Persisted book series.

Note: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

My family and I are fans of the Rebel Girls books, and we enjoyed this instalment.
The introduction by Joan Jett was fun, and a great way to set the tone for this series. It was interesting to gain information on some women we already knew about and some we didn’t. The fact that this book had a wide range in type of music and involvement in music, even including a music executive, was interesting and unique.
We would be interested in another book along these lines, maybe going into more details about the musicians at the back or other ones not listed.
Thank you Rebel Girls for the copy through NetGalley in exchange for a review.

I really enjoyed this installment of the Rebel Girls series. I recognized many of the artists featured, but not all, and I learned many new things about them. I came away feeling inspired by the energy and creativity and determination to be oneself that shone from the pages. This is a fabulous book for young girls who love music to inspire them to reach for their dreams and live their life unapologetically.

The illustrations are bright and colorful and fierce and full of the personality of each artist being featured. They add a lot of emotion and impact to the stories.

I would recommend this to all elementary, middle, and high school girls (and boys too, because it's not just girls who need to see that girls can do anything they set their minds to), especially those who love music.

*Thanks to NetGalley and Rebel Girls for providing an early copy for review.

Thanks so much to NetGalley and Rebel Girls for an e-ARC of this book. This one is a 3.5-star read for me. I've mentioned in a lot of my other Rebel Girls books reviews that I usually adore the 25-story versions of the longer works, where the themes take readers into more niche topics. This time, I think the "women in music" theme deserved a full anthology. There are extra tidbit bios at the end about other artists and women working in music and it definitely feels like all of those and more could have been explored in full features for a more well-rounded collection. I do like the stories that ARE featured, but since there are just SO many genres of music and so many big celebrities featured, there was a lot of room to add in other jobs possible and other influential figures within the music industry beyond many of the people we've seen front and center on stage. (I think other 25-story collections from Rebel Girls are able to better show familiar names right alongside less-known but equally important contributions within a field.) I know lots of readers would be interested in pursuing music professionally one day, or getting to know the stories behind how their favorite songs/genres/movements came to be, and I'd love to see that explored!

Rebel Girls and MUSIC??? Yes, thank you!!!

As one topic that is SURE to capture my students' attention, I LOVE that I can share Rebel Girls Rock with them! Not only does this include the icons of rock music, but also women who "rocked" the music industry (looking at you, Dolly Parton)!

Here's the only problem with this book... I know there are going to be arguments about who gets it next! (I guess I'll have to buy multiple copies!)

Thank. you, Rebel Girls, for taking the time to know what is important to tweens and finding topics and subjects to attract, interest, and inspire them.

I love this. The stories portrayed various kinds of women in music industry with inspirative narrative. Easy to digest, and great illustrations. I love the illustration so much!!!!

It diverse from pop singer, songwriter, rapper or even the leader of a well known music label.

Colourful and empowering, this book is highly recommended for young girls out there to pursue their dreams unapologetically, love themselves, and keep going with whatevers music that stole their breaths away.

Rebel Girls Rock features tales of 25 women in music - including Bjork, Dolly Parton, Lizzo and Olivia Rodrigo.  Each of the "girls" has a one page bio including their birthday and where they are from and a one page illustration of them.  It was interesting to learn how some of them got their start and what made them want to go into the music industry.  At the end of the book there are some blurbs on some other girls who rock who didn't make it into the main book - like Beyonce, Billie Eilish and Jojo Siwa.

I received a free e-copy of this book in order to write this review, I was not otherwise compensated.

Really liked the selection - I am currently researching about the least famous ones like Fea and Nervo - and the illustrations are one of the best compilations in Rebel Girls that I've read. I'm really glad that are small biographies in the end of others girls who rocks, because that are a lot of names that I thought would be in these stories.

Another fun book for girls to read about Girl Power and women who have fought the odds to do what they love and be who they are. This installment is about famous women who make music their way. There were some performers who I've never heard of but this book tells you about them and their individual stories.

This collection of 25 stories featuring women of music is truly inspirational. Rebel Girls Rock gives us insight into talented, powerful women like Ella Fitzgerald, Joana Jett, and Tia Fuller. Reading this, you're bound to hear a few familiar songs echo through your memory. There's even a Spotify playlist featuring many of the artists mentioned. I'm grateful that the collection highlights many women we don't hear of often enough. Every little detail gives you insights into a musical mind and life. The writing is ideal for readers of all ages, while the illustrations are beautiful and detailed.

However, I do wish there was a little more diversity between the artists. I also wonder if every artist listed truly counts as a "Rebel," to follow the theme between these collections.

All in all, this is an inspiring, insightful collection that gives you a behind-the-scenes look into artists who deserve far more of a spotlight.

I received an electronic ARC from Rebel Girls through NetGalley.
I appreciate that the authors went beyond the most obvious choices for women in music. They offered 25 diverse musicians who challenged themselves and others to be true to themselves and share their gifts with the world. Readers meet these women through short biographies, portraits and short quotes. The twenty-sixth woman to be included is the reader as they have their own page to write their story. Also included are short blurbs about so many more women in music and informative text about the music industry.

Some of the most iconic women singers in the world are included in this book. There are also others that I’ve never even heard of!

I loved that some pages had a QR code to scan for more about that person. I also love the formatting of each story - putting the person’s birth/death year(s) and where they were born was a phenomenal touch. Sometimes, you are just curious about these two things, so it was neat to see as a standard inclusion.

Each person’s story captured who they are in the present moment and mentioned only positives of each person’s life. Some of the stories had more influence on me than others, but overall great.

Finally, the inclusion of extra people + activities to complete at the end were just the magic touch that added to the greatness of this book.

Thank you for the opportunity to review!
