This is a very informative book for younger readers. I love the focus on female rockstars- something you don't see very often. Very enjoyable.

With the forward by Joan Jett this book puts the spotlight on female rockers. From Joni Mitchell A great folk singer to Kathleen Hanna one of the best female punk rockers to Jody the first female CEO at Universal records. What I love about rebel girl books even the photographs an artist renderings or done by females these are great books for girls growing up trying to find their place because these books show them their places anywhere they want it to be. I love Rebel girl books but I do think this one is my favorite so far. I received this book from NetGalley and rebel girls but I am leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

Thank you NetGalley and Rebel Girls for the copy of Rebel Girls Rock!!

I just love their books! The diversity, the illustration, the techy stuff (cmon QR code). I know I am not the target audience for their books (I am a little too old) but I still learn so much from them. As for this specific book, I like that they included BIPOC artists, music producers and executives, kpop bands, singers, rappers, everything! Highly recommend to caregivers and professionals out there who work with children. :)

Rebel Girls Rock by Rebel Girls is the latest installment of the series, which I have loved since Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls. I have nieces, so these books are gifts to them with each new title. This book follows suit and is as informative as it is beautiful. Sure to become a treasured title on any bookshelf!

These are short, contemporary biographies sprinkled with inspiration and paired with modern and beautiful illustrations. With a foreword by iconic rocker Joan Jett, the 25 women featured in this book come from around the world. I was familiar with seven of the 25 and enjoyed learning about everyone. Finding new artists is always a thrill! Each woman is given the spotlight, with stories of how they changed the industry, battled giants, played instruments, and not only stood out but changed their genres.

In my opinion, there are two bonuses in this edition of Rebel Girls; activities curated by Gibson Guitars and scannable codes for audio stories on the Rebel Girls app. How fun! Another five stars for Rebel Girls.

Thank you to NetGalley and Rebel Girls for an eARC in exchange for my honest review!

Did you know that Bjork released her fist album when she was 12? Or that Blackpink was the first female all group to perform in Coachella? Or did you know that Lizzo was discovered by Prince? No? Neither did I. That's what I adore in Rebel Girls. They are not only Rebel (you know it!) they teach you so many interesting parts of the lives of thousands of famous and infamous girls. And now, they grabbed the girls who rock in stage and in our world. I love love love it! With powerful illustrations this book will rock your world.

Haven't read a Rebel Girls book I didn't admire and learn from! This edition focuses on women in music in the 20th and 21st centuries. There are full page briefs on 25 performers from many countries and musical genres. There is even a rapper from Sri Lanka, a remarkable Tuareg band who use their earnings to help their people, Lizzo' with her flute and help from Prince, plus a number of single pictures with paragraphs on well-known performers from Maria Callas to Nina Simone and more. It ends with bonus activities and tailored encouragement from the Gibson Guitar company. Throughout there are bonus audio stories via scanning the QR code.
The illustrations continue to be delightful, imaginative, and colorful.
Well suited for reading WITH someone of any age including ESL, and great for gifting to anyone, but especially to a school or your public library!
I requested and received a free temporary e-book on Adobe Digital Editions from Rebel Girls via NetGalley. Thank you!

Rebel Girls Rock showcases 25 female artists who've made their mark in the world of music.
The wide range of time (1900s - present), genres (indigenous/folk to punk to opera), ethnicities, and ages (teens to elder women) make this book accesible to everyone. Over 20 other women have brief blurbs to expand the range of musicians. With the addition of accessing other stories through the Rebel Girls app, and the inclusion of activities to encourage thinking about and participating in music, Rebel Girls Rock is another meaningful chapter in the series.

Definitely must buy for all levels of school libraries!

A cute and illustrated book with a short history on well known and not so well known names in music. Worth the read and a good going off point if you find yourself more interested in the women.

I can not say enough good things about the Rebel Girls books!!

This book was great! I’m a huge music lover so was thrilled to get to read this!

Embarrassingly I didn’t know a lot of these musicians- but I loved learning about them. This book features 25 women in music. The biographies are not overwhelming. It is one page of information and one illustration. It’s a perfect introduction to each woman! Some are producers, singers, writers, play a musical instrument, etc. I like that it’s a variety of musical talent. Selena, Olivia Rodrigo, Lizzo and Joni Mitchell were a few that I knew.

There are more extras featured in the back too! I also loved the QR codes tucked throughout the book. The Rebel series is such a gift to growing young women!

What an inspiring series. This book is a great addition to the Rebel Girls book! Most artists I knew, or at least heard about but some where new to me. I love the variety this book covers. It's a great book to pick up and read either from first to last page or a few artists at a time. Five stars from me!

Another great Rebel Girls book! It was so interesting to read about some well known, amazingly talented women in music, and discover some iconic musicians that I was less familiar with. The illustrations are fantastic and there are also a couple of pages with many more musical favourites as well as a great "Make Your Own Music" section. Rebel Girls is such a fantastic brand, empowering young women and girls.

Thank you yo Netgalley for the ARC in return for an honest review.

Another great installment of Rebel Girls! As a music fan I was excited to see who would be featured in this one. Rebel Girls does a great job highlighting some heavy hitters you have definitely heard of like Ella Fitzgerald, Lizzo, and Dolly Parton while also highlighting many you may never had heard of, such as Evelyn Glennie, Tia Fuller, and Mercedes Sosa. each artist gets their own page and a fun photo. There's so many fun things to learn in this book and it really highlights how many great female musicians there are in the world.

Rebel Girls Rock is a fantastic addition to the Rebel Girls book collection. These books feature different female role models for young children to read about. This book specifically features musicians. Each page has a beautiful and colorful illustration of the person along with a page long mini biography. These books are great to read before bed for younger kids because each page is short. For older kids who are reading independently they can jump around to read about different people that interest them. This book is informative and also beautifully illustrated. This collection is a fan favorite in my house!

Woohoo. Another of this fabulous series of inspiring women. The book is written in the usual informal and engaging style with modern and bright illustrations. The book covers rappers, country singers, music execs and musicians themselves. It draws you in and makes you want to read ‘just one more person’ before lights out. A brilliant touch is the QR code for some of the artists, and ideas for a range of ages to make your own music at the end.

Another excellent addition to the Rebel Girls series! The illustrations are striking and gorgeous as usual and I learned so many new things about the women I did know and so much about those I didn't! I also appreciated that not everyone included was an artist/musician but another piece of the big musical puzzle (and I appreciated the sheer diversity of everyone included).

I love the activities in the back (don't forget to go to their website for more--they're great!) and the extra little blurbs for those who are just as important but page limits could not allow for their full bios to be added.

Absolutely an inspiration to all and I fully recommend adding this one to the collection.

Rebel Girls Rock highlights the lives of some greats in music. From Dolly Parton to Selena Quintanilla, these women have made huge impacts in culture. I loved seeing Hispanic women being highlighted too. The likes of Mercedes Sosa and Ivy Queen aren't always given a spotlight and this does just that.

Thanks so much to NetGalley and Rebel Girls for providing me a free eARC of this book for me to review.

I can't stop stressing how much I love these books. The illustrations are lovely and the story shared are impressive. I can't stop thinking about those women who have made the history of the music world by establishing themselves as artists on a par with men.
All this made me dream and learn that with good will you can do anything in life!

“Over the years, things have changed, but there are still people out there who believe girls shouldn’t do everything that boys can do. We need to change that by teaching kids not to treat one another differently based on gender and making sure there are plenty of women in positions of power.”
