Perfect thriller. Absolutely loved the main character and I stayed up late, ignored my phone, was late to work all to keep reading this book.

Great follow up from the fab Black Eyed Susans. This has a really great twist to a police investigation. A psychic. Rumours of a tv show and maybe more books. Please!

I loved this book! It was atmospheric and beautifully written with a great sense of place. Vivvy was such a cool and interesting character (very unique) and I really enjoyed the mystery about the missing girl, and how this element of the story unfolded. I also enjoyed seeing how people's attitude towards Vivvy changed as the book went on. I'd love to read another book based around Vivvy.

Julia Heaberlin is a talented author and I look forward to reading more books, and will highly recommend.

With thanks to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for the ARC.

Night Will Find You is a fantastic novel full of engaging storyline threads and interesting characters. Vivvy Bouchet is an astrophysicist who is also psychic like her late mother. After saving a boy from a traffic accident when she was a child and had visions of the event, she now helps the same man solve crimes in his role as a police officer. When he asks her to help in the case of a child who went my11 years ago, her skills are not appreciated by everyone involved.
Despite this book being quite slow paced due to the number of characters and storylines, I found I couldn’t put it down and hope the author write a follow up novel.

I have devoured this book in one sitting. Once I was pulled in, I couldn’t put it down. I was desperate to find out what was going on. Also, I didn’t want this books to end.

Everything about this book has been brilliant. I absolutely loved getting between the covers of this. This was everything I hoped for and so much more. This is a book which should be on everyone’s radar.

I absolutely recommend this book to other readers.

This was a very slow start for me and I kept picking this up and putting it down.
Once I got into the book it was good, but I prefer something that moves a bit quicker - hence the 3 stars.

This was honestly both a mesmerising and unputdownable thriller for a book where I didn’t know what to expect. Surprisingly good books are the best ones to enjoy I think!
I love a good old conspiracy story and untrustworthy pov as you never know who to trust and which way it’s gonna go, and I did not guess which way this would go either!
This book progresses well at a decent pace it just wasn’t quite five stars as the second part let it down slightly but still 100% recommend!

This was a slow start for me and I almost gave up. But half way through it pulled me in and I enjoyed it.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the ARC in return for an honest and unbiased opinion.

4.5⭐️ rounded up to 5

Recommended for those who enjoyed “The Last Thing He Told Me” or “Sundial.”

I am absolutely obsessed with Heaberlin’s writing. She says things without saying them and it’s so gloriously smart. It’s poetic, yet somehow straight to the point. I couldn’t ask for more from her style and will 100% be picking up more of her books 👏🏻👏🏻

My only gripe is that, while the story started out incredibly captivating, it didn’t go where I personally wanted it to, with the climax kind of feeling like a lot of other thrillers (which you might like if you love thrillers). But this is just a personal problem of mine and shouldn’t keep others from reading it!!

Absolutely brilliant! From start to finish this book had me hooked and the pace was non-stop. Loved the characters and the way the author described things. My first read by this author and I was not disappointed. I don’t give out five stars very often, but in this case I am pleased to do so.

I'd previously read and enjoyed Black Eyed Susan, and Night Will Find You was even better in terms of characterisation and plotting.

I loved the fact that Vivvy's nature encompassed science, facts and evidence alongside something mystical. The history between Vivvy and her sister and brother-in-law, and the tension between her and the sceptical detective Sharp added interesting subplots. I truly despised the podcast host - such a vile man!

A fast, original and satisfying read :)

Listen, Black Eyed Susan’s is one of my favourite books of all time so maybe I am abit biased but Julia Heaberlin definitely deserves more credit!! Her writing style is so unique & it is so incredibly easy to get lost in her stories. I’ve never come across one I’ve disliked & I always recommend her books to my followers! Night Will Find You was unsurprisingly impossible to put down, I was hooked from the beginning & immediately had to purchase a physical copy for my shelf! Go in with an open mind & enjoy the ride.

This was the first book I read by Julia Heaberlin and won't surely be the last because I love the style of writing, the mix of paranormal and thriller, the solid plot that surprised me and kept me guessing, the well developed characters.
An atmospheric, dark and gripping story that kept me hooked.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine

What an incredible writer Julia is. Born to write with a gift many don’t have. I loved this book. The intense research that’s gone into it is exceptional. The plot is one that holds you close and ,Alex you desire the next chapter before sleep. I red this in hours.

The characters really pop and each so very unique. The story centre around our main character who is both a gifted scientist who also has the blessing/challenge of psychic gifts she inherited from her Mother. Helping the police on various cases leads her deep into the disappearance of a young girl years back. This girl will not let her rest until found. Enter stage left a clan of supporting and adversarial characters. Her complex relationship with her sisters husband in the police and his deep fellow cop who seems to challenge her on every level. Why is he on her case so closely?

There are sentences and paragraphs that blew me away, I had to stop and digest where such imagination comes from. It’s truly special. Some of these sections are so beautifully descriptive that I was right there, in the book. This is a rare talent. I did not expect the reveals and twists near the end one iota. That’s clever storytelling. It kept surprising me. In short, a very good book that’s well worth grabbing and devouring.

I've just spent about a week with Vivvy. Vivvy is an Astrophysicist, and a psychic with a complicated past. She is helping the police with a missing girl cold case. This book is about being different, relationship struggles, conspiracy theories, and believing in the stars. 'We were given an imagination to expand our worlds and Science to prove it. They are not mutually exclusive'...Read it!

An immerseful and atmospheric read by an author whose novels I always love.
Haeberlin's writing is rich and evocative and this is a very solid, rollercoaster-ride of a mystery. I flew through it in two evenings. I enjoyed all the characters but the protagonist, Vivvy, was so well drawn. Can't wait for her next novel!

I am such a fan of the general ambiance Julia Heaberlin creates in her novels and Night Will Find You has the same cosy, sliding into a favourite pair of jeans sort of vibe. Her characters feel like people you might know or would want to know. Full of drive, determination and gumption.

This novel feels a bit more chick-lit in its story than her previous novels, though. I got a distinct impression of a Pride and Prejudice Elizabeth and Darcy relationship dynamic between Vivvy and Sharp which makes this more of 3.5 star book. Good, but maybe too predictable in its direction of travel? The story, though well told and smartly devised, just lacked the jagged, raw punch I have come to expect from this author.

Would that keep me from reading Night Will Find You? Not at all! It was a fun outing full of interesting twists and turns that entertained throughout.

I’m always pulled to weird mystery books with a blend of genres, so Night Will Find You immediately intrigued me.

I did enjoy Vivvy as a character: her emotional conflict, the exploration of her difficult upbringing, the unrequited conflict, and the contrast of her scientific self with something unexplainable in her psychic abilities. However, I didn’t find the secondary characters as memorable in the story, maybe except for Bubba Guns because of his divisive and awful nature and the conflict between his actual and perceived character, and Jesse (intriguing at times but not consistently enough) who was a standoffish and mysterious detective. I also found the other elements such as the conspiracy theories, misinformation and the astrophysics aspects interesting in their own right.

Even though the story was well paced and well constructed with tension in the right places that kept me reading, the aspect I was most invested in—the case of missing Lizzie Solomon—wasn’t quite moving as expected and I mostly found that my interest wasn’t maintained through the middle because I found there were other distracting elements that didn’t feel as seamlessly integrated with the main case.

Despite being well-written and engaging in parts, I wasn’t as gripped with the story as I had hoped. And yet, I’m also tempted to read on if there is another book in the series.

Thank you to #Netgalley and #Penguin for the copy of #NightWillFindYou by #JuliaHeaberlin
This is the story of Vivvy Bouchet well respected scientist and on the side a very reluctant psychic, having inherited the gift from her mother.
Vivvys life has never been straightforward but she has found ways to cope until her mom dies and she is caught up in a police investigation.
This unleashes all sorts of problems. I found the text a bit wordy in parts hence the 4 stars but I did enjoy it and was left at the end hoping for a sequel.

I chose this book to read because I really like Julia Haeberlin’s writing. She has a way of creating compelling characters that stand out from the page and make you create a little space for them in your heart.

Vivvy Bouchet is no exception. Vivvy is a 28 year old astrophysicist engaged on a 2 year project to find a specific kind of light in the stars which may indicate extra-terrestrial life. When her mother dies, she comes back to her hometown of Fort Worth, where her sister Brig still lives. Vivvy’s mother earned her money by telling fortunes and Vivvy once saved the life of her childhood friend Mike by predicting he would an accident connected to blue horses.

Mike is still in Fort Worth and now he’s a cop. He’s forever indebted to Vivvy and they have a close connection. With absolute faith in Vivvy’s powers, he asks her to help with a cold case he is investigating. Lizzy Solomon, a young girl, went missing from her home 11 years ago and her mother Nicolette is currently serving a sentence for her murder even though her body has never been found. Nicolette, now in a women’s prison, is still protesting her innocence, while Lizzie’s father lives in a trailer park.

Vivvy’s mother had told the police that one of her clients was involved with Lizzie Solomon’s case, and Nicolette is now suing the City for not pursuing this lead, which is why Vivvy feels she needs to help if she can.

Vivvy has a complex relationship with her sister and Brig knows and can’t stand the fact that Vivvy and Mike have an unresolved tension between them which has been there since Vivvy made that prediction.

To complicate matters further, Mike is working with Jesse Sharp, a man whose scepticism is written all over his face. Vivvy feels he’s only there to try and trip her up and yet she is a reluctant psychic; this gift is not something she ever asked for, nor is it entirely predictable.

When Sharp slips a photograph into the Solomons evidence file, Vivvy knows at once that it does not belong there.

Vivvy’s life gets even more complicated when the local loud mouth podcaster and peddler of conspiracy theories, Bubba Guns, hears about her involvement with the police on this case and sets out to trash her reputation.

Haeberlin excels in the setting up of a series of complex relationships and the added advantage of setting science against the paranormal makes this a fascinating and involving read. Vivvy is a terrific character and her own personal inter relationships show her to be a complex and rational thinker with a fiery reaction to those who seek to make her appear ridiculous.

Julia Haeberlin writes her characters really well and the Texas conspiracy theorists add a dimension of danger to a well-constructed plot which simmers with tension and is well paced.

Verdict: I always enjoy Julia Haeberlin’s writing style which is both lucid and immersive. Her descriptions of Vivvy in the desert are especially moving and lyrical. Night Will Find You is a tense, highly atmospheric and suspenseful thriller with characters you will love.
