4.5 stars rounded up to 5

In The Summer House, Keri Beevis reminds us of the possibility that anybody could be an unsuspected culprit and that nothing is to be taken for granted. The plot is built in a way that you only start to imagine where the storyline is heading towards the end. Details and hints are slowly revealed in a way that keeps the reader glued and lets them speculate on the possible culprit. I found some parts somewhat slower and rich in details that were not essential to the story, hence 0.5 less, which I anyway rounded up, since I enjoyed this read and the author's style!

Excellent read!

What a book this is. Most times when you read a book, there is a percentage of the book that you find your concentration waning, that didn’t happen with this book.

The amount of people I thought were responsible for Camille’s death was ridiculous. I kept making my own scenarios up in my head. This is why I love Keri’s books. She keeps you guessing until the end.

This is a well written book with an original and engaging story that kept me intrigued and guessing from beginning to end. It was a very enjoyable book to read and I finished it over the span of a couple of evenings.

Plot wise I thought it to be quite strong. There were some unexpected revelations, as well as twists and turns that I didn’t see coming, and they kept things moving at a good pace. The characters were believable, lively, and had distinct personalities. Something I really appreciate later on in a book when I’m tracking suspects and looking for clues in their words and behaviours.

Unfortunately the ending didn’t hit as hard for me as I would have liked. I have a nagging feeling that I had guessed the culprit correctly at some point, but there was so much suspicion around everyone, with a few red herrings thrown in for good measure, that by the end of the book I was so wrapped up in the storyline that I’d forgotten I even had a suspect. This is a very new and strange experience for me and I’m left unsure as to whether the big reveal was a big reveal or not.

Either way it was a better than average ending. Maybe a little far fetched, if we’re being honest here, but it wasn’t ridiculous nor implausible. It wrapped the story up nicely and left me willing to read more books from this author so I’m giving it a solid 3 stars. It’s a good book that I’m glad I had the pleasure of meeting and one that I would be happy to leave at a hotel or guest house for others to discover. It’s a quick and easy, but not mind blowing, read for anyone who enjoys thrillers but it would maybe thrive more in the wild than permanently on someone’s bookcase.

Wow, wow and Wow. A fantastic storyline where everyone was suspicious, once I started reading I didn't want to stop.

Just when I thought every little breath was my favorite Keri read this book comes along. Her books are seriously so addictive and right when i think I've figured things out I'm proven otherwise. As with all good thrillers, there was a big false lead that I fell right into and I found myself stunned by the final reveal. This book also does a really special job of showing character growth for Lana. Who she was as a girl, who she was as a haunted woman returning to Mead House, and who she leaves as are entirely different entities and I was proud of her healing.

This book started off with a bang and just kept going all the way through. It was so twisty and full of red herrings, I just loved it as I do all of Kerr’s books that I’ve read so far. Five stars isn’t enough for this book. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

I have always found myself reading into the early morning hours when I pick up a book by Keri Beevis and The Summer House was no exception.
A grandmother has died and her grandchildren, Lana and Ollie return to the town to clean out the grandmothers house and prepare it to be sold. Years prior the Summer House had been the sight of a murder and memories are never more than a thought away.
A diary found and secrets revealed keep this book moving at a swift pace. Keri Beevis has the ability to make the reader believe they have it all figured out, only to discover they don't.
Recommended to those who like twisty mysteries,
Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the advanced digital copy of this book in exchange for my review considerations. All opinions are my own.

@keri.beevishas a new psychological thriller publishing in a couple weeks and I highly recommend reading it! It is filled with things I love in a thriller: English gardens, small town in the English countryside, secrets, lies, multiple POVs, dual timelines, and of course, murder. The author keeps you guessing and the story is filled with shocking twists.

Thank you to Boldwood Books and @netgalley for allowing me to read this book ahead of publication in exchange for my honest review.

I have read and enjoyed several books by this author, The Summer House is a great addition to this list. This is a dark and intense tale and I quickly found myself immersed in the drama. The cast of characters are well rounded and believable (if not all likeable!), with the relationship between them being seamlessly written. This book contains many twists and turns, which were all brilliantly crafted.

All in all, this is a gripping psychological thriller that keeps the pages turning.

17 years after the brutal murder of Camille, beloved older sister of twins Ollie and Lana, Grandma Kitty passed away . As executors of Kitty’s will they must empty the home where the murder took place, where they used to be carefree teenagers until that fateful night. What Lana didn’t expect to find was an old journal containing Camille’s most private thoughts and secrets. She helped put away her boyfriends brother that she saw that night with Camille, but was she wrong? Did she really send an innocent man to prison for 17 years?

Overall, this was a remarkable thriller. I had a little trouble getting into it but once I did I couldn’t put it down and binge read the rest of it! For me, I enjoyed that I didn’t favor the killer already, but didn’t fully suspect them as the murderer. Then -boom- plot twist and it clicks why I didn’t like them😂 The plot twist definitely made me feel like I wasn’t going crazy. And as a romantic, I loved the little bit of romance that was put into the story as well!

I really loved how real the characters felt. The story felt realistic in how everyone responded to the circumstances and you could feel the heartbreak, anger, shock, etc. as it happened. Overall, I felt the story moved at good pace for the events to have made sense! While I would have loved to have seen the meet up between Sebastian, Xavier, their mom and Lana. That was something I was very curious of throughout the whole story.

Thank you Keri Beevis, Boldwood Books, and netgalley for a copy of The Summer House for a review💗

What's not to like about this book! Murder, mayhem, love, hate, sex and lots more going on ! I was hooked from the first chapter and although I fathomed a tiny part out, I was carried along with the rest of the dead ends and sleight of hand which Ms Beevis is so good at in her writing. Plenty going on in the story to keep you page turning right to the very end! I certainly recommend this book.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC to review.

Holy moly guacamole.

I need to start with this as The Summer House is everything that I expected and so much more.
Lana and her twin brother Ollie have to return to their grandmother's Kitty's house after her sudden death. But it is with mixed feelings.
Their oldet sister Camille was murdered in the summer house and it was Lana that identified her killer. And Ollie that discovered his sister's body.
Seventeen years later the feelings are still hard to handle.
This has both sweet and bitter memories for them both as it was their teenage best friend Xaz and Lana's boyfriend at the time that his brother Sebastian that Lana saw that night who was dating Camille at the time and he was arrested and sentenced for Camille's murder.

But coming home to Mead House has stirred something amongst people in the local community.
Who has something to hide?
And what would they do to protect their own secrets?
An absolutely mindblowing intense psychological thriller

This was my first book by Keri Beevis and it will definitely not be my last!

Wow! What a gripping, mind-twisting thriller that kept me guessing until the end.
The dual timeline and change in POVs was so well done. I absolutely loved the characters but I trusted no one and suspected everyone! Lana and Xav were my favorites and made the story so enjoyable for me. The author made sure every character had a backstory and a voice and that made me love or hate every single one of them.

Overall, this was a fast paced thriller that kept me in suspense. I could not put this book down but when I had to, I found myself thinking about it constantly. That’s when I knew this was definitely going to be a 5 star for me!

Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood books for allowing me to read the eARC!

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book. It's part serial killer part love story with some revenge and redemption thrown into the mix. There was a killer, but the story kept pointing you in one direction and then when you sat back knowing who did it the story twisted to a different person. There were several villains in the book and all of them played a part in the mystery, but only one was psychotic. There was a big twist when the real killer was revealed. There is an old hidden journal that holds the key to a 17-year-old murder and what had happened in the summer house in very graphic detail. The journal also makes one person doubt their memories of the night the death occurred which leads to redemption for the person imprisoned for 17 years. The book was ok but not one I would have stayed up until the wee hours to continue reading.

Another outstanding book by this author. Lana Hamilton temporarily moves back to her childhood home following the death of her Grandmother Kitty so as to clear it out prior to selling it. The house holds bad memories for her as her sister was also murdered there some years previously. Lana's evidence was instrumental in the conviction of the murderer which still upsets some of the locals. During her stay various things happen which cast doubt over the conviction. Some people are anxious about the new evidence and will go to any measures to ensure they don't come to light.

This is a fast paced thriller that keeps you in suspense throughout with many twists and turns. The characters are believable although in some cases not very likeable. It is a very well constructed story that flows easily. I found it very hard to put it down as there was so much happening in it.

A must read and a worthy 5 stars

A domestic thriller that kept me reading late into the night. Told in dual time lines, when the girls were in high school and fifteen years later. Something happened at their senior prom and it changed their lives forever. One of their friends died on that fateful night but who died and more importantly were any of the friends responsible??? Another edge of your seat read from one of my favourite authors.

This book was incredibly fast paced. I was hooked from the beginning and I read it in between working in one day! The story and the characters were so well developed. I was invested. The ending was definitely a twist I didn’t see coming. I would definitely recommend this to my friends and followers!!

Another brilliant book from Keri Beevis.
Lana heads back to Norfolk to sort out her grandmother’s house following her death.
It’s hard for her being back as her sister died in the summer house when she was a teenager.
Lana’s twin brother Ollie also comes back to the house to help and it’s clear the twins are not welcome back here.
Lana was very close to Xav when they were younger but after his brother was imprisoned for her sister’s death, the relationship crumbled.
Lana bumps into Xav when she first gets back and it’s clear he’s not comfortable around her. But when someone tries to run her over, he’s there to help her.
It’s clear someone isn’t happy about Lana and Ollie being back and things soon start to escalate.
This is a gripping psychological thriller that will definitely keep you guessing.
Thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.
