It’s been 17 years since the death and murder of Lana and Ollie’s sister, Camille. The siblings now have to return back to the home after the passing of their Grandmother. After Lana finds Camille’s journal, secrets are revealed that leaves Lana questioning whether the right person is behind bars and whether she is in danger.

I didn’t want to put this book down. I needed to know what was going to happen next otherwise I found myself thinking about it constantly.

I feel like the ending of this left me with many unanswered questions and felt like it could have been shorted down a lot more than it had been.

Overall, what a fantastic thriller that left me on the edge of my seat.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for providing me this arc!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Mead House is the Hamilton’s summer house. Lana and her twin brother Ollie spent lots of their childhood in Mead House. Sounds like they should love this fun and memorable place, yet, it’s the opposite.

Lana and Ollie never went back to Mead House after their sister Camille was murdered 17 years ago. But this time, they revisited their summer house to clean up the estate and to sell it.

Things were not going smoothly, when Lana found her sister Camille’s secret hidden journal. It revealed the true story behind….

I found this thriller was extraordinarily addictive and I finished it in one-sitting. The darkness, secrets and the relationship between all the characters were perfectly written.

Twins Lana and Ollie return to their family home - Mead House - as they need to get it ready to sell. Why are they selling their beloved childhood home? Their grandmother, Nana Kitty, recently died and 17 years ago - their older sister Camille was brutally murdered in the summer house (on the property).

Neither of them wants to go back because of haunting memories - and the locals don’t exactly welcome them back with open arms. Xav (Lana’s ex-boyfriend) is not happy to see her because she said that Xav’s brother Sebastian is the one responsible for killing Camille. Lana says she saw him go into the summer house before Camille’s murder - so it had to be him!

However, she is now second-guessing what she saw 17 years ago. While cleaning the house, she found a journal that Camille had hidden very well talking about a very SPICY relationship with G. This really baffled Lana because Sebastian was Camille’s boyfriend, so was she cheating on him? Who is G?

Did I forget to mention that Ollie brought his brand new fiancee - Elise - to the house? Elise will not win any Miss Congeniality awards and we find out that Ollie really doesn’t know Elise at all.

Ever since Lana found this journal, her life has been in danger. First, someone tries to run her over and then … wait…I don’t want to give too much away.

I will say this, I liked Keri’s style of writing because I really feel like I got to know all of the characters - and so many were just so darn not likable at all!

This is a definite page-turner and will leave you saying OMG more than once. I did not see any of the twists coming!

Once I started this book I couldn't put it down. It starts as a completely relatable story, Our protagonist is back in her small town to clean out her beloved grandmother's estate to put it up for sale. I have done this, twice. It is a thing we do.
It is a hallmark trope but I mean it something a lot of us women do. So I felt like I could connect with our girl. She gets there and starts the hard work. It is emotional! Also she reconnects with old friends and enemies.
There is romance (I loved that part).
Also she has to figure out some serial killer stuff. I mean it happens.
It was so good. There was so much drama and suspense.

It has been along time since I have read a good thriller/mystery, and The Summer House is definitely the book that I was looking for. Lana and Ollie Hamilton are twins that come back to their hometown to pack up their childhood home after their grandmother suddenly passes away. Returning to this home brings up old feelings of sadness and grief, and brings them back to the summer of 2005 when their sister, Camille, was murdered in the summer house on the property. The longer Lana and Ollie stay and pack up the house, the more mysterious things they start to unearth that show that maybe the person who is in prison for Camille's murder perhaps is the wrong person.

Without giving any spoilers, there are a lot more characters that come into play in the book and this book holds so many twists and turns, which were all so brilliantly crafted. Every person mentioned could have played a hand in the murder of Camille, but just when you think you have it figured out, you don't!

To all mystery and thriller lovers out there, I highly recommend this book - it is truly the definition of unputdownable. Job well done, Keri Beevis!

One sister murdered, one brother jailed, one love betrayed.

Following their grandmothers death Lana and her twin brother Olly are left with the task of emptying her house, the house where she died and their sister was murdered. A hidden diary, secrets from the past and someone desperate to hide the truth lead to the twins return being far more than they anticipated.

I really enjoyed this book and it gripped me straight away. Tense and twisty sum this book up for me and I’d like to thank @netgalley for the opportunity to read it.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy of this book.

When their grandmother dies, twins Lana and Ollie need to return to their childhood home to clear it out. They’ve not been back since their older sister Camille, was murdered there in the summer house. The brother of Ollie’s best friend/Lama’s ex boyfriend Xav is currently serving time for the murder. As they are clearing the house they fine evidence that starts to suggest that Xav’s brother Sebastian might not be guilty after all.

Absolutely loved this book. So many twists and turns and just as I thought I knew what had happened to Camille, I realised I was very very wrong. Loved the use of red herrings and the occasional flash backs.

5stars cannot recommend enough!

This didn't immediately hook me and I felt it was a bit slow to start but the pace does pick up and I was soon engrossed. Its written from multiple povs and from the timeline of back in high school and present day. This isn't a book you can just skim through or you will get lost lol. Its got so many layers and things unravelling that a couple of times I did have to re read a bit so I could slot it into the story properly but that's probably just me not paying enough attention the 1st time round.

If you want twists and turns then this book has plenty! I wasn't overly keen on the ending but It also wasn't something I was expecting so I did like that it wasn't predictable!

The characters are all pretty well developed and you get a good sense of who they are and their secrets and motives. There are a lot of books of this style with the secret from high school coming back to haunt someone at a reunion but this didn't feel like a rehash of the others and does manage to put its own spin on the genre

Lana goes back to the house she grew up in after her grandmother died. Her sister was killed 17 years ago, and her killer is in prison. Or is he really?

The book starts out strong with what happened 17 years ago. Beginning with fear is a sure way to hook the reader, and I liked that. After the enticing beginning we slowly meet the people affected by what happened. I liked the main character Lana and her former love Xav. Their story was one of the most interesting aspect of the book. There were different POVs and maybe too many because it was hard for the author to keep her facts straight. I think the author managed to confuse you enough to make it interesting, but sometimes it got irritatingly bewildering. It also felt like there were too many people involved, and when it all was revealed I wasn’t very enthusiastic. The motive felt a bit off and unlikely.

It was an enjoyable read though and I know many readers really liked it, so you might like it more than me.

Thank you to #NetGalley, #Boldwood Books and Keri Beevis for the opportunity to read an advance copy of THE SUMMER HOUSE, to be published 6 March 2023. This domestic thriller was fast-paced and included numerous twists and turns throughout the novel. The murder the plot was about was gruesome and sexually-oriented, so if that is disturbing to you, this will not be your cup of tea. However, if you enjoy a good book with twists galore, you’d probably enjoy it. #NetGalley. #BoldwoodBooks. #KeriBeevis

Thanks to NetGalley for the advanced reader copy! The plot follows twins Lana and Ollie as they go back to their childhood home where their older sister was murdered 17 years ago. They are there to sell the house after their grandmothers passing. While cleaning it out, Lana finds a secret journal belonging to her sister that leads to more questions regarding her murder. The Summer House is a quick paced whodunnit thriller that will keep you guessing with lots of red herrings and twists. Keri Beevis even threw in a little bit of romance, which I’ll never say no to. A great story dealing with grief, secrets, betrayals and a nail biting climax.

"The Summer House" is a twisty and twisted story about Lana returning to the home her sister was murdered at years ago following the more recent death of her grandmother. I really loved the growth each character, particularly Lana and her brother, had during the course of this book. The development of each unique character was very well written. Keri Beevis is quickly becoming a go to author for me with well written, believable suspense novels.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in advance of publication. I will keep my eye out for more great things from Keri Beevis!

If you are looking for a book with tons of red herrings and twists and turns, second guessing the ending and being shocked at the final reveal this is the one for you. The character depth really draws you into the story of these siblings and what really happened at the summer house so long ago.

Another really good novel from Keri Beevis!
For the first chapter or so I struggled to get into the story which is rare for this author, however all of a sudden I was sucked in and it turned out to be one of her best yet.
Well written with added tension and a small twist near the end made this a thrilling ride with a satisfying finale.
Lana, Ollie & Xav are some of my favourite characters yet and the eerie Hamilton abode and summer house made the perfect backdrop for a suspenseful ride..
Great standalone novel.

A dark, psychological thriller, and the latest book from Keri Beevis. It is due for publication in March. When Ollie and Lana return to their childhood home a deadly series of events are triggered. Secrets are waiting to be uncovered which have been buried for nearly twenty years.
The characters are solid and well introduced. Lana and Ollie carry emotional baggage, which affects their relationships with each other and those around them. The setting is perfect, an old secluded Manor House in the countryside. I love the way the scenery of Norfolk is described. I honestly felt like I was there.
This is a great whodunnit, told from different perspectives across the chapters. Tense and suspenseful, I couldn’t put it down. If you enjoy Lucy Foley or Sarah Pearse, this is the book for you.

From the first chapter I was hooked.

The story sets the scene the night of the murder in ‘The Summer House’. The story continues introducing many characters who are likeable and have their own mysteries.

Twins, Lana and Ollie, go back to their childhood home following the sudden death of their Grandmother, where they begin clearing out the house in preparations to sell.
Upon returning to their old town, meeting familiar faces and being met by disgruntled neighbours, all is not what it seems.
Neighbours dislike for the family shines through the chapters and reveals some great mystery writing.

Lana finds a secret journal written by her murdered sister Camille. Only the pages of the journal unfold truths behind the mysterious night.

I thought, they had introduced G a little too early, which I thought made the ending obvious - but goodness I was wrong! The twists and turns throughout suspected characters really kept me going! To the point where every character to me was at some point ‘definitely guilty’.

A book that really keeps you turning pages at speed right until the very end.
