A weekend getaway to a home in a beautiful setting in the woods, near a lake; what could be more idyllic? Two families who are friends. What a setting! This book is another twisty story that keeps you up to finish. Daniel Hurst weaves a tale that is gripping, throughout. Another 5 star read. Thank you to Netgalley, Bookouture and Daniel Hurst for allowing me an Arc of this in exchange for my honest review.
I absolutely loved this book! Thank you NetGalley, for introducing me to Daniel Hurst, I have read many books of his now, & this one lives up to the rest of them. His writing style keeps me entertained & I find it hard to put down the story. I keep wanting to know whats going to happen next. The Holiday Home was full of twists and turns and loved it.
I picked up this story on a beach vacation and that was maybe not my best idea!! it was a bit close to home but wow I loved this! It was creepy, thrilling and exciting from page to page. Daniel Hurst has been a thriller author I've read in the past and I continue to enjoy the work he puts out!
Secrets and betrayals, adults behaving badly on what was supposed to be a nice getaway amongst friends. I received a complimentary copy of this book. .
The Holiday Home is a domestic thriller that centers around two families that take a weekend holiday together. Nicola and Ryan join their friends at their luxury holiday home for a well-needed vacation; however, their relaxation of hot-tubbing, picnicking, and drinking soon turns ugly when secrets are revealed and betrayals are brought-to-light.
Unfortunately, I did not enjoy this book - all of the twists were predictable, the characters were extremely unlikeable, and the plot was very slow-paced. I struggled to finish, both because I already knew how it was going to end and because the chapters just dragged on.
I love this authors books and this one didn't disappoint. I couldn't read it quickly enough to find out what happened!!! Huge 5 stars.
Firstly, thank you to Netgallery, Bookature and Daniel Hurst for the ARC of this book in return for an honest review.
Daniel Hurst has done it again he is the king of thrillers! I’ve read all his books so I was ecstatic about getting my hands on his latest one! Wow what can I say this book was amazing, it was a fast paced and kept me guessing throughout a perfect book for psychological thrillers fans alike! The ending wow I did not see it coming! This book was so good I read it in day!
Overall I throughly enjoyed this book and all the plot twists that it presented! Daniel Hurst definitely should be on everyones shelf!
When Nicola's best friend invites her family to join them on a short holiday at their luxurious cabin, Nicola jumps at the chance. While at first the trip seems lovely, it very quickly Nicolas detects that there is something going on between her husband and her best friend's family. There are plenty of varied POV and you can choose who to root for. Most of all however, remember that no holiday is free! If you like a quick psychological twister, The Holiday Home is for you!

3.5/5 stars: The Holiday Home started off a little slow for me but ended up picking up. It was a fast and easy read that I enjoyed but it’s not something I would want to read again. I felt that The Holiday Home was too predictable however, there were a couple turns and twists that surprised me and sucked me in! It was a good book but not as suspenseful as I was expecting it to be.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Nicola and her husband, Ryan get invited to spend the weekend in a luxurious holiday home by her best friend, Kim. Suddenly everything unravels when Nicola hears a life changing secret in the hot tub…
A super quick eventful ride from Daniel hurst! Not super twisty but very emotional.
I was on the edge of my seat from the first sentence to the last!
Another winner by Daniel Hurst! Gripping from the very first chapter- I could not put this book down and never could have predicted the ending! Great characters with an excellent plot. Nail biting and heart pounding at times! I can’t wait to read more of his books! Thank you to NetGalley, Daniel Hurst and Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review this ARC. Highly recommend!
Another quick but wild ride from Hurst! I went into this one without even reading the premise and flew through it. Vacation with friends gone VERY wrong- full of twists that keep you guessing.
The Holiday Home is a very quick, suspenseful read. Nicola and Kim have been best friends for 20+ years and it seems like a no brainer when Kim invites Nicola and her husband and daughter to vacation at Kim’s luxury family vacation home. Nicola and her husband Ryan aren’t as well off as Kim and her husband, Lewis, so Nicola is excited to stay there and Ryan almost seems to be resentful of the house. Nicola notices things seem to be off between Ryan and Lewis, but hopes that the two families can enjoy the time. Cracks start to appear in all relationships and as secrets start to come to the surface, this becomes a vacation that neither family will be able to escape. Some of the twists of the book I was able to pick out pretty quickly, but this was a quick read and I enjoyed the overall premise. I will definitely check our a few other books by Daniel Hurst.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
The perfect holiday or the perfect nightmare is the tagline of The Holiday Home and from this alone I was eager to read this book. It’s not the longest of books, but it does pack a lot into the pages. It’s a gripping, pacy thriller full of shocking secrets that will keep you hooked to the end. Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and the author for the chance to review.
This author sure knows how to keep the punches rolling in this book. Such an enjoyable read and highly recommend any books by Daniel Hurst.
This book was let down hugely by its predictable “twists”. Each time the reader was supposed to be surprised I was more surprised that it was meant to be a twist.
Dry and patchy.
Daniel Hurst’s latest book The Holiday Home comes out March 1, 2023. I was lucky enough to get it from NetGalley and the publisher as an early release in exchange for my honest review. This is only my 2nd book by Daniel and I loved The Accident that came out in 2022. This book introduces us to a family of 3 who are invited to their best friend’s vacation home in Scotland. Things start happening and a twisty thriller is born! I loved the twist at the end and did not see it coming. I will definitely be looking for more of his books in the future. He’s a great author!
I have read some really good thrillers lately but unfortunately this was just average.
I have heard a lot of good things about this writer and expected a lot more, but the plot is predictable and unbelievable and one that has been used so many times before ....... remote cottage, no phone coverage, secrets and lies.
It was entertaining enough to keep me reading to the end and I will definitely give this author another go because he has good reviews on his other books.
2.5 stars
“It’s funny how quickly deceit, danger and death alter things, isn’t it?” Does this sound like a description of a getaway weekend spent by two couples, longtime friends, and their children? No? You are so right. The main narrator Nicola, vacationing in a gorgeous, expensive cabin in the remote Scottish Highlands, is upset when she overhears an unsettling conversation between her husband Ryan and best friend Kim. After she discovers a text from Kim to Ryan, she thinks she knows the secret they have been hiding. She doesn’t. And now a storm and car trouble have left them all alone in this isolated cabin. What else could go wrong? A lot, as it turns out.
The Holiday Home is a fast paced, deftly plotted thriller. The characters are far from likable for (even the sympathetic Nicola has her own secrets) but the strength of the storyline makes this a compelling read. The descriptions of the cabin and the woods are a plus. 5 stars.
Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and Daniel Hurst for this ARC.
So this is a tale of friendship and how some lies can be so deadly they should never be uttered. When a group of friends go away for the weekend a long buried secret is overheard and none of their lives can ever be the same again. When a gun shot breaks the silence is anyone safe now the truth is out there. A great twisty turny read.
