Nicola and her family have been invited to join her best friend for the weekend at their luxury holiday home in Scotland. It is remote, and the weather is not what they expected.
Nicola senses something is amiss when she notices her husband, Ryan, ogling Kim as she gets into the hot tub in a revealing bikini.
Ryan does not like Lewis, Kim's husband, but is on very good terms with Kim's teenage son, Cole.

Nicola overhears a private conversation between Kim and Ryan, and discovers a secret that they are keeping from her.

I feel that Nicola has grounds to be angry, but it seems that she is hellbent on confronting Kim and Ryan and does not care about the consequences. Considering the remoteness of the house, and the fact that she would have to travel home in the same car as the rest of them, I feel she should have waited till they got home to start her battles.
I cannot say I enjoyed this immensely, it was entertaining enough to keep reading to see what happened next.
The final twist was something I did not expect.

I hope that the final edition of the book is proofread for the spelling errors and typos.

Thank you to #NetGalley, #Bookouture and Daniel Hurst for the opportunity to read an advance copy of THE HOLIDAY HOME, to be published 1 March 2023. This domestic thriller was exceptionally clever with a plot that was different and a welcome change to the usual storylines. It was a great read as all of Daniel Hurst’s books are. But it moved along very quickly and I found myself not wanting it to end. The characters were real and easy to both love and others to hate. This is at least a 5 star read that you don’t want to miss! #NetGalley. #Bookouture. #TheHolidayHome. #DanielHurst

Secrets….secrets can ruin relationships shops…murder and mayhem…two couples and their children go on a vacation to a remote cabin in Scotland. They have known each other forever. The wives are best friends, but the husbands not so much. One couple has a daughter, and the other has a son. This book moves quickly with characters who seem to be realistic. This talented author does not disappoint. The ending is surprising…this book was sent to me electronically by Netgalley for review. Thanks to the publisher and the gifted author. Cannot wait to read more.

Note to self: if someone offers you a free holiday, know that it’ll cost you … in more ways than one!

When Nicola’s best friend, Kim, and her husband, Lewis, invite them to their luxury log cabin on the outskirts of Glencoe in rural western Scotland, it’s an offer Nicola and Ryan can’t turn down. A free holiday, even with Kim, Lewis and Cole, their 15-year-old son, is nothing to scoff at…especially when finances are tight and they can’t go on vacation with their 11-year-old daughter, Emily. What starts out as a godsend, a perfect holiday, suddenly becomes a nightmare and before they leave, one of them will be dead.

Daniel Hurst is an auto-read author for me because I know I’ll be presented with a fast-paced psychological thriller that is, not only well-written but is guaranteed to get my pulse elevated!

The atmosphere in this one is fantastic - right from the ominous thunder when the five of them arrive at the secluded cabin. The tension ramps up with overheard whispers, secretive texts, and the discovery of things hidden in a closet. Soon the gap between the two couples widens and Cole finds himself in the middle. Who does he side with?

“How can I be honest when I’m surrounded by liars?”

Hurst’s exploration of getting something for nothing and the danger of secrets is fabulous. He’ll have you realizing that a holiday is not always the answer to life’s problems…if anything, a holiday can often serve to be the start of them! Just ask Kim and Nicola.

This 5-star suspense about how the truth always comes out needs to be on your reading list.

I was gifted this copy by Bookouture and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.

I have been enjoying Daniel Hurst’s books lately and this one was no exception. What a great read.

It was very easy to read and the story kept me glued to the pages. The book was fairly short and took place over a couple of days. The story flowed so well and kept me on the edge of my seat, especially the last third of the book. I couldn’t wait to see how things were going to turn out and I wasn’t disappointed.

If you are looking for a fairly quick to read book that will keep you interested the whole way through, give this a go.

Thank you to the author and Netgalley for allowing me to read this book in return for an honest review.

This was such a good popcorn book to pick up and binge! The twists were fun, but obvious and the characters didn't do much for me but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I'm going to have to pick up another Daniel Hurst book to read very soon!

Another winner from Daniel Hurst! Again it's got a good pace, although it's a short book he still brings the characters to life really well and builds them into real people. The tension is expertly built throughout, there are secrets, twists and turns and of course.... that jaw dropping one final reveal! As with the rest of his works, its just another domestic noir that gives you everything you'd want from the genre and has you unable to put the book down until you've found out how it all ends. Loved it!!

How does this man write his books so fast? Just recently read New Years Eve Party so was shocked to see another release so soon….. however since reading his earlier books I can’t resist a new Daniel hurst book! Read them all and now reading the twenty minutes box set series. Wow! What a book! I couldn't read it fast enough. The tension and pace were absolute magic! Brilliantly unsettling, with characters so deftly woven that you never quite know who – if anyone – you can trust. Another riveting and powerful psychological thriller from this talented author.
There's something about the way the author writes that makes the words flow easily, and the pages turn themselves!
A pitch perfect thriller! . . . This author is an absolute master of psychological suspense! Can’t wait to see what’s next……

Daniel Hurst has done it again! The plot twists!!!! That epilogue!!!!! I read this book while I was working, I read this book while I was cooking, I finished it in less than 24 hours. So so good, which I’ve come to expect from Hurst!

I love Daniel Hurst and will forever be a fan! The Holiday Home was great; I even finished it in 24 hours. But at times I did find it predictable & I cringed reading the last sentence of every chapter because it always ended with a somewhat cheesy line. I will still read every book of his and tell everyone about it!!

The Holiday Home by Daniel Hurst is another thrilling page-turner from this prolific author. As with his previous offerings, you will want to devour this one in a single go.

Nicola and Ryan and their daughter have joined Kim and Lewis and their son for a vacation at a lakeside retreat. There is tension between the two men, but Nicola is determined to have a relaxing holiday with her best friend Kim, and tries to overlook the petty squabbles. But when she overhears a whispered conversation one night, secrets begin to emerge that will irreparably damage a longstanding friendship, and nothing will ever be the same.

Full of jaw-dropping twists and with an undercurrent of suspense, this one is a must for devotees of the author. 4.5 stars

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an ARC.
