I love Michael Morley’s books, TV shows and podcast and this book is like a synopsis of all three. Filled with small things that you can do every day to improve your health and mood - handily put into sections throughout the day. I found the book really useful and have tried lots of the tips out for myself although cold showers might be a step too far for me! Easy to read and non judgemental, plus I do trust Michael’s advice to have some sort of medical backing as he’s a doctor. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Just one thing is packed with things we can all do with out drastically changing you routines or behaviour. But which could seriously improve your health and wellbeing. It’s a ‘pick and mix’ thing you might not want to take a cold shower (only for ten seconds or so) but changing when you eat could improve your health. Just like the books title you can easily take on one change at a time.
I highly recommend this this book.
Just one Things is a self-help book about transforming your life style in order to improve physicals and mental health, the ideas in this book are designed to be easy ways to do this and goes into detail about the benefits and studies behind each thing and what aspect of your health it will improve if you try it for yourself.
Really like the format, lots of ideas to choose from and intend to buy a physical copy so I can lend to friends.
After having read the book it has inspired me to try adding squats and press ups into my daily routine as this will help hugely in other aspects of my life. Another thing I liked was drinking coffee as I already do this but it was very interesting to find out about the differences in teeth damage/staining if you drink it before brushing your teeth so I think I will swap to drinking it after I brush my teeth.
My favourite One Thing is eating chocolate. This is something I can fully get behind as I love chocolate and actually quite like dark chocolate which is what the author suggests. Dark chocolate has been proven to have health benefits which the author goes on to describe and reference different studies to back this up, so this One Thing is something I will be adding to my daily routine.
The beauty of this book is that after you have incorporated that one thing into your routine so that it becomes a habit you can then refer back to the book to try and add just one more thing to your routine. I also like the fact that the suggested activities are simple and don't require you to buy loads of extra stuff in order to accomplish them.
