This book hooked me from the beginning and I was totally wrong about who the "bad guy" was, which I love!! I have never read any books by this author so I am now going to go add her backlog to my ever-expanding TBR!

You may think you know who’s responsible for her mother’s death but you won’t actually know until all possibilities are exhausted. Well written and fast moving, The Suspect will keep you guessing until the end.
I had the good fortune of listening to the audio version of The Suspect. The narration is clear and well paced. I highly recommend it.
Thank You to Bookouture Audio and NetGalley for the opportunity to enjoy the audiobook version of this ARC.
This is a good thriller within a family setting, which has a satisfactory ending after the usual twists and turns. As usual I will not be rehashing the plot here as I believe that the professional blurb writers do a better job without giving anything away.
I listened to the audio version whilst gardening and helped pass the time very well. It was well read.

☁️ THOUGHTS:
This was a suspenseful, twisty domestic thriller filled to the brim with secrets, lies, drama and anticipation. Perspectives switched between Jess, and her journey of discoveries after she’s approached by the man believed to have murdered her mother, and Lori, and the events leading up to her murder.
I’d class this as a mystery, rather than a thriller, and it wasn’t particularly stand-out-ish, but the narration was brilliant, really bought to life by Tamsin Kennard, and the storyline engaging. I found the pacing a bit on the slow side for me, but otherwise this was a great read if you love a character-driven book, and I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for more of Croft’s work.

The Suspect is a psychological thriller set in the 1990’s and present day. Jess’s mum Lori was murdered when Jess was a toddler. She was a single mum, separated from her partner Danny after discovering something about him. In the present day the man everyone believes killed Jess’s mum approaches her and claims he has important information to share. Unfortunately, he is found murdered before being able to speak to Jess.
For fans of twisty storylines this would be a fantastic read as long as you are prepared to accept the far fetched plot. I really liked the narrator who definitely added to my enjoyment of the book.
I enjoyed this book. The story was really well written and held your attention the whole way through. I would read more from this author.
An incredibly taut and intense thriller that chills you to the bone.
Well written and intriguing in its portrayal of crimes and its impact and consequences on all of those involved .
I really enjoyed this story, in fact, it felt extremely realistic with the characters created very relatable.
Wholeheartedly highly recommended.
This is a new author to me and I was very impressed!
It’s about a woman whose mother was murdered when she was a small child. All her life, she has lived in fear because of what happened with her mother, and the fact that they killer was never punished.
One day, the man everyone believed killed her mother walks up to her. He tells her it wasn’t him. That begins her journey into the past, to dig up secrets and lies.
I honestly had absolutely no clue how this one was going to end! Def recommend!
Everyone has told Jess Nathan killed her mother. Suddenly one day he is there wanting to tell ger something important. All of a sudden secrets begin to unravel and the danger LEVEL rises. JESS does nit k ow who to trust or what yo believe.
Told from jess and her mother's point of view over 2 timelines...
The story hooks you in with its twists and turns. The character are well developed and you read on desperately looking to solve the mystery. It builds up to a big reveal and a final twist.
Its well written just enough is tild of Jesse's mum relationships to give the story and characters depth . Like life it does leave the reader with unanswered questions.
A real good page turner. Throughly recommended
Thank you NetGalley for the audio copy in exchange for a honest review. When a man approaches Jess in the street she is transported back twenty years to her mothers murder. This is the man accused of her murder. He tries to talk to Jess claiming he is innocent and loved her mum. Her family tell her he is a dangerous man. Who is telling the truth and is Jess safe?
This is another edge of your seat thriller from Kathryn Croft. She takes the ordinary up to the next level and creates tension and occasional terror as the story unfolds. It’s an unusual premise; a child’s mother is killed and in later life, the alleged killer confronts the now adult daughter claiming innocence. What happens next?
I listened to the audio version which is really well narrated and I whipped through it in a couple of sittings. It’s filled with the unexpected and I really had no idea where the story would turn next, so it’s a gripping listen and a neat domestic thriller. Plausible and chilling.
A different kind of reading this weekend.. an audiobook! Thanks @netgalley for the opportunity to listen to this book by Kathryn Croft!
When Jess was just 2.5 years old, her poor mother was murdered in the park. Jess has spent her life ignoring the details from that tragic day, but now she’s ready to find answers.
This book was a mystery - I wouldn’t say a thriller. There weren’t too many twists or turns.. and the ending was easy to guess along the way.
This is a fabulous psychological thriller. The story is told in two different timelines and is about a woman called Jess and her quest to find out who killed her mother Lori many years ago.
The audiobook narrator is perfect for this story - so easy to listen to.

The publisher's (Bookouture) blurb on NetGalley really intrigued me and I am grateful to both of them for this audio ARC, along w/author Kathryn Croft. I was excited how this psychological thriller unfolded with a strong female protagonist, Jess. The initial drama is told upfront in the publisher's blurb stipulating Jess shouldn't trust a particular man, who recently contacted her, because he "murdered her mother", so that cat is out of the bag right away and everyone should be clenching their teeth and holding their breath for Jess. The narration by Tamsin Kennard was spot on.
This suspenseful novel is delivered in 2 timelines: Current day with Jess as an adult, while the 2nd features her now-deceased mother, Lori, when Jess was just a baby. As the chapters tick away, Jess discovers some truths and lies told to her by her close-mouthed family, but is really interested in what this man has to say. She simply wants to know what happened to the mother she never really knew. The suspense increases as Jess takes some risks and as we learn more about her mother's and father's pasts. It had me stay up late into the early mornings listening to this great story. Towards the end, things were even more suspenseful and it sped up so quickly with more red herrings and surprises and lies.....almost like I was on a rollercoaster.
Keep your suspension of disbelief because Jess is worth it!

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the advanced copy of this audiobook in turn for my honest review.
I finished this book in only a couple of days so that in itself should say how I enjoyed it.
I really did enjoy listening to this story about Laurie and her daughter Jess. The story goes back in forth over a 2 decade time frame from when Jess was just a 2 year old to Jess as a young twenty something. Jess is approached by the man who everyone says murdered her mother but he proclaims his innocence to her and with the facts that he presents leads Jess on the journey to finding out exactly what happened to her mother that frightful day in the park.
I also enjoyed listening to the narrator, she made it fun to listen to where some you can’t wait for the story to be over.
Again thank you for the advanced copy!

Told in two different timelines, past and present. It mainly follows Jess, who is desperate to find out more about her mother, Lori who was killed when Jess was little. The story slowly unraveled Lori's story by going back into her timeline and giving the reader info here and there while we also followed Jess try to get answers by going to her family to try to get to know her mom.
The narrator, Tamsin Kennard was incredible and I really enjoyed her narration. I was able to distinguish the voices and she used a variety of tones and inflections. She truly brought the story to life.
I had so many suspects on my list that I didn't know who I could trust and I only figured out who it was towards the end. This was a really good family drama, and psychological thriller. So much so that what poor Jess had to discover broke my heart for her. I just couldn't believe it.
Special thanks to Bookouture Audio and Netgalley for the ALC.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookoutune for an advanced audio edition of this book.
Wow, this was my first read from Kathryn Croft and it will not be my last! Once this book began, it took off and did not stop! I really enjoyed the two timelines between mother and daughter as Jess tries to figure out what happened to her mother. There were several suspects and I definitely did not figure out which one was correct until the end! Super enjoyable read and I look forward to more from this author!
This psychological thriller from Kathryn Croft had a lot to be intrigued by. With dual timelines and the constant back and forth between past and present with Jess and her mom, I was constantly second guessing what I thought I knew. I did think there were too many characters thrown in but I was able to keep them straight. I thought the ending was pretty exciting and I didn't really see it coming at all. There were some interesting little twists in this that I haven't seen before as well as some common ones. Overall, I found this entertaining but not wholly unique in its execution. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I listened to the audiobook of The Suspect and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This was an exciting psychological thriller full of secrets, lies and plenty of suspects. I certainly changed my mind a few times who I thought the culprit was!
This book was well written with lots of twists .
It was the fist book that I’ve read by Kathryn and it won’t be the last. I loved everything about this book. I thought it was interesting from the beginning and each chapter I needed to know more. I thought it was easy to follow and I like how there were two point of views. I thought it flowed nicely with the past and present. It was not confusing at all and the ending was great!
