Thank you to NetGalley, the Publishers, and Lesley Sanderson for giving me an ARC of the Mistress Next Door. Also, amazing job to the narrator Eilidh Beaton. She was remarkable and really made the book and made it feel like she was actual living through this. The twists were good - I did enjoy them, but was hoping for a more 💥 entrance. I was gripped by the story and would read more by this author!

Harriet and Oliver live in the lovely community of Prospect Close with twins Tess and Tilly and a 6-month-old Lucy. Oliver is a banker and commutes to London and sometimes to Paris. Tilly was briefly abducted while at a park, and Oliver is suspiciously working late hours. Is Harriet's perfect family life about to crumble?

The Mistress Next Door has a strong start but becomes a very slow burn. I was intrigued by the title and book description ultimately though I wasn't very thrilled.

The husband's character is very lacking. I want to have a stronger emotion toward this character whether I like him or not. The threatening notes (not a spoiler) Harriet receives are probably what pull me along as I'm curious about her past and want to know the reveal. Then it was a bit of a letdown. I won't mind giving Lesley Sanderson's book another try in the future.

Outstanding and very enjoyable narration by Eilidh Beaton.🎧🥰

I really loved the title, the cover and the premise of this book and was pleased when offered the chance to read it.

I feel like this is a story of two halves, one half being about the suspected adulterous husband and finding out who he was cheating with, the other is discovering the backstory of the main character and what secret she was keeping from her past.

Unfortunately it didn't all come together for me. There were so many characters, none especially likeable and we didn't really get to know them that well.. The husband was horrible and I couldn't work out why she hadn't left him already. With her suspecting almost all of her friends as having an affair with her husband, which once found out he wasn't especially apologetic for, I had no idea why she stayed around.

I liked the idea of the story but felt with fewer characters and more intrigue it would have been faster paced. The narration however, was excellent.

This author has quickly become one of my favorites. I have read several of her books and they are always gripping page turners.

Harriet and Oliver have three daughters. Oliver works hard and is hardly ever home which causes tension. Harriet becomes suspicious of her husband when she receives a terrifying note after one of the twins disappears. Thankfully she is found quickly.

She finds out that he has been seeing her best friend. Oliver has cheated in the past. Harriet also has a past that she has not shared with her husband.

What are the motives of her best friend? Harriet has no idea what is coming next.

There are so many twist in this novel that I was engaged with EVERY word. Thank you Bookouture and Netgalley for this novel due out Feb 15, 2023.

I read a comment that said this book was like Lucy Foley's The Guest List; I totally disagree! The Guest List is better written and moves faster than this book. The Guest List is not a fast-paced book, but the pace is much quicker than it is in this book. First, I will say I do love the audio and narration. The narrator does a great job of bringing the characters to life. Unfortunately, the characters are not great, and the writing is overdrawn. The audio is about 8 hours long and it feels like 24 hours. None of the characters are really remarkable or stand out. By the end of the story, you are happy it is ending and not really invested in any of the characters. It's like when someone nosily watches an Instagram story of someone, they could care the less about. The cover is beautiful, and the title is catchy, but the content inside is very dull and listless. I do appreciate the effort, but even the narrator couldn't save this book.

I was so excited when I received this book and had such high hopes for it. Unfortunately I wanted more than the book was willing to give. In the book we meet Harriet and she’s at the park with her twins Tilly and Tess her friend Astor is there as well and when Astors little girl falls Harriet goes to look for a tissue and in that moment little Tillie disappears. Needless to say Harriet is beside herself with grief and wanting her daughter while at home waiting for any news she digs in her purse and a package of tissues find a note that says “are you scared yet?“ soon after to Harriet’s Joy little Tillie is return to her. While her daughter was missing she tried to phone her husband who she found out the conference he went to head and did two days before but Harriet blow this up as she is mainly focus on her missing child. This story has more than one point of view and one of the other points of view is the mistress who is anonymous and she is out to nail one of the walls in the small call Desac for a pass transgression and not only do you not know the mistress you don’t know which wife she is focused on because I said the book is told from many different points of view and one of them is in the past. No having said that some books work really well with different POV‘s but I found this one almost confusing. Not to say I couldn’t keep up with it it’s just in my opinion went to many places with not enough bridges to connect them now having said that by the time we got to the end in the big showdown I will be honest and say I was blown away for one by why does woman Warner revenge in for two why the other woman felt so guilty. So many times and books the big secret is something that most people would feel bad about but it wouldn’t wreck their life and I know thriller riders must play it up to cause tension or whatever but I mean really? Either way I finish the book and I have a few things I would love to say but won’t because it may ruin it for other people as I see most people do like this book and kudos to you I did like the ending but I think the meat of the book was a little lacking and had no substance to connected together. I have read two other books by this author that I loved and will definitely read future books by her I just didn’t completely love this one. I listen to the audiobook and thought the narrator did a great job I love the tone of her voice and felt she had great character distinction. I just want to be clear I don’t think this book is a total fail because as I said the ending had my heart palpitating I wish I had a better way of explaining what I mean but either way read the book you may like the whole thing. I received this book from NetGalleyg and Bookoucher but I am leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

This book was good but not great. The mystery was good and challenging. I listen to this and the reader was good but sometimes hard to tell which character she was. Overall a good read.

The book was a little underwhelming at times. There was an underlying plot about the main characters past that felt like it took away from the title plot "The Mistress Next Door". All came together in the end, but it just felt lacking. The narration was great though.

Thanks to NetGalley, Lesley Sanderson and Bookouture Audio for an advanced audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review. I really enjoyed this audiobook. The author kept me interested the entire way through. I didn't connect with the main character, Harriet at first as I found her to be a little weak and naive. However as the story progressed she started to improve which I am so glad about. Harriet moved with her husband and 3 girls to a quiet cul du sac to start over after her husband, Oliver had been unfaithful. Harriet decided to give the marriage anotherbchance and was also keeping a secret of her own. When one of her 3 year old twins goes missing at the neighbourhood park, Harriet is devastated and everyone chips in to try and located her daughter. This is also when Harriet starts to receive anonymous letters which could have to do with her past. Once her daughter is located and safely returned home Harriet cannot understand why she could not reach her husband as he was not answering his phone....should she be worried that he may be up to his old tricks.......stay tuned and Enjoy!!!!

Harriet was a very likable character and it was easy to root for her. Being riddled with guilt even when it’s not your fault is something that’s very realistic and happens in everyday life. The pacing of the story was just right. I wasn’t expecting the ending that awaited me. I did figure out who the person was that was threatening Harriet before it was revealed to be who it was but I couldn’t figure out which neighbor she was. And I wasn’t expecting her to have a partner! I’m also very glad that Harriet didn’t settle and once she realized she had people that loved her for her and supported her she wasn’t afraid to walk away from what wasn’t serving her. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed the story and am looking forward to more from the author.

The Mistress Next Door captivated my attention from the very beginning, and had multiple plot twists along the way. It was easy to listen to, and was well written. I enjoyed this audiobook and appreciate NetGalley and Lesley Sanderson allowing me access prior to the general publication.

This was very enjoyable, the narrator has an excellent voice and is well-suited to her job.

The book was chaotic but great; many red herrings and slow reveals amped up the suspense. I couldn't wait to find out who was wreaking such havoc and why. The ending was quite satisfying.

Thanks to the author and publisher for gifting me a copy. It was my pleasure to write an honest review.

I found The Mistress Next Door quite entertaining, also considering it's quite long, beyond 11 hours. There are plenty of red herrings that will keep you focused to catch all the possible true hints, and still the ending is quite unpredictable [well, the idea is but the culprit isn't].

I liked the narrator, she has beautiful voice and a pleasant accent, I had to speed it up to 1.25 tho because I found some parts were read too slowly.

An affluent neighborhood, a group of neighbors-turned-friends, a long buried secret, and an anonymous someone threatening to bring it to light. The Mistress Next Door is a dual timeline thriller that follows our main character, Harriet, as she deals with gossip from neighbors, suspicions of her husband's infidelity, and notes threatening to reveal a secret from her past.

I enjoyed this book overall. It was narrated well and it kept me interested and engaged. I'm someone who likes to guess the ending before we get there and I don't think there was enough to do that here, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. This is definitely a plot-driven book, with not a ton of character development or dimensionality.

Overall, I don't think this book broke any molds, but not every book needs to. It's a fairly quick read that I'd recommend to anyone that wants to get into domestic thrillers, as well as anyone that reads primarily domestic thrillers.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for sending me this audiobook for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

This felt very chaotic with the author waiting until the last few chapters to let you know what happened in the past for our main character to be so paranoid. There was so much emphasis on what happened, but no glimpse as to what it was until she put right said it at the end. And the twist at the end felt like it came from the left field.
This had the potential to be a very good book, but just fell flat.
Thanks NetGalley for letting me listen to this book!

The Mistress Next Door by Lesley Sanderson is a very nice and quick psychological thriller that tells us a story of Harriet, her husband, and the mysterious mistress that lives next door. Or she might be in Paris. He might even have 2 of them. Harriet is not quite sure as her husband Oliver is of a cheating kind and she does not trust him. She also harbors a secret from her past that has been a defining moment of her life and she had felt guilty and undeserving ever since the event happened.

We are thrown straight into the action with one of Harriet's toddler twins getting kidnapped (briefly). Harriet starts getting menacing notes, her husband's behavior gets more and more suspicious. There is some weird business going on with the old nanny and with the new nanny. There is a lot going on in the book; it's pretty entertaining. It's a great popcorn thriller!

I listened to the audiobook version narrated by Eilidh Beaton. I really loved the narrator! She has an easy to understand accent (for us here in the United States - the story is based in England); she sounds upbeat and really makes the narration even more enjoyable. I liked how she made the little girls in the book sound believable.

The book is a little under 8.5 hours long and the time honestly flew for me listening to the book. I did listen to it at about 2x the speed. I would say if I were to read it, it would be a quick read as well.

Most of the narration goes from the POV of Harriet in the present day, a little bit from the POV of the mistress and a few chapters about the past. From the main twist perspective - I did not guess who the mistress was which is something I really enjoy when it happens. So, it's a nice fast-paced thriller that reminded me of Daniel Hurst, Lisa Jewell, B.A. Paris.

This novel will be published on Feb 15, 2023. Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for the advanced copy of this audiobook. My review is completely voluntary.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for this advance copy of the audiobook for review.
This was an interesting, thrilling read. It keeps you on the edge of your seat. The main character suspects her husband of cheating and this story line details her nail biting journey of finding out who the mistress is while concurrently trying to solve the mystery of the person leaving her anonymous notes revealing a secret she has long kept from her past. Great twists and great narration. I would definitely recommend this to fellow readers.

I enjoyed this mysterious thriller. I didn't expect the twists and couldn't guess who the mistress was before it was revealed. I had trouble trusting every character.

I did have a hard time keeping all of the characters straight in the beginning. I honestly wasn't sure if it was dual POV or not. But around 30% everything fell into place & I was hooked.

Thank you NetGalley & Bookouture Audio for the audio ARC for an honest review.

This was my first Lesley Sanderson novel and I'll definitely be following-up with this author!

This novel had extremely quick pacing and I have to admit I finished it in under 24 hours. The author did a wonderful job with revealing Harriet's past slowly without going into too much detail. I tend to get irritated when authors spend almost half their novel revealing backstory. That being said, Sanderson gave us the perfect amount: enough to understand the heroine's uneasiness but not too much so that half the novel takes place in the past.

Also Oliver was so enjoyable to read about. I hated him, of course, but that's what made his scenes so entertaining.

I was a little on the fence about the villain's motivation. It was really uncomfortable to read about. However, the last chapter did a great job at overpowering that.

This is a book that will get your attention from the beginning. Harriet lives in a fancy neighborhood with her husband and 3 kids. Everyone knows everyone’s business, likes of neighborhood get together and of course everyone has their secrets. Harriet suspects her husband is cheating on her but doesn’t want to confront him without proof. After her daughter goes missing she becomes extra sensitive to his actions.
A story with some twists that will keep you guessing.
