Although this was a good book overall I found that it did drag on a bit and there were places that lost me and I wanted to skip over. The love story of Lorelei and Juan was so good but I found that Sharlene was not someone that I warmed to at all. But in saying that who would not love to be able to drink for the perceived Fountain of Youth and shred years off you life!
Lorelei initially did not realise that the more water she was drinking the better she felt and looked and when she met Juan she went from a virginal, straight laced old woman to a young vibrant risqué young one. Her boutique co-owner knows that the water is magical and has grand ideas on how to make a lot of money but Lorelei is less enthusiastic about sharing the water with others, not so much because she doesn't think that it has the magical properties but she is worried about the consequences if things go wrong and rightly so. A bit of history, humour, sadness and fantasy all thrown into one.

This is such a cleverly written book. I loved the metaphors and storyline of this book, but I did find it a little slow in places. The relationships and characters were enjoyable too.

An enjoyable read that touches on the topics of youth, vanity, loss, endurance and hope. I really enjoyed the way the stories played out and the little touch of historical elements was nice. Water water everywhere but not a drop to drink.

I LOVED this novel. It was fun, quirky, and finding love. Life is changing for Lorelei and Sharleen, and Juan ...the well-digger with many talents. Have they found the fountain of youth? When the ladies at the lingerie shop notice, everyone wants and demands it. Until it changes again. Brilliantly written, loving, accepting who you are and full of laughter.

Lorelei and her best friend Charlene or 60 year old women living in Miami and run a lingerie shop. One of Laura lives favorite things to do after work is the soak in the tub with lavender bubbles but lately that is becoming harder and harder to do as her water comes out and trickles. This is why she finds herself talking to the good looking plumber named Jose. She wants him to dig another well so she can take a bath. At first he says she may have to call someone else but it takes a shine to her and gives it his best shot anyway. When he strikes water it’s not from the usual source but from a lake nearby and Lorelei is so happy her and one toast with her new water and champagne glasses. not only is this water more clear more by Brent colder much sweeter than normal water it seems the more she drinks it the better she feels. Even Charlene has noticed how beautiful she looks but more than that the plumber who has made it a daily habit to stop and drink a gobltful before they both head out to work. Lorelei even starts thinking differently the Tracy lingerie Charlene ordered dozen put Lorelei off anymore as a matter of a fact she takes us at home to try it out. Lorelei is a virgin but that doesn’t stop her from thinking of the brown eyed Jose while in her new trashy underwear. And she’s surprised to learn he thinks about her like that as well. When one of her customers Ruby finds out that Lorelei is doing something different, she immediately wants to know what. She is obsessed with how she looks and wants some of what Lorelei is drinking and when Charlene tells her it’s the water Ruby is hell-bent on getting some. This causes a big splash in their community but not for long because eventually it starts causing the ladies problems as well. I don’t wanna say too much because this book was so funny and there was so much I didn’t know when I started reading it which made for a much better experience. I loved this book I love the authors sense of humor I loved her relationship with Jose I thought the story flowed nicely and they were no lulls in the story and it kept momentum all the way through. I am definitely going to read more from this author this is a definite five star read! This novel was superb and a masterpiece. The plot, the humour, the profound insights about life, are all fantastic. I recommend the novel highly. Life is changed for Lorelei and Sharleen when Juan, a well digger, calls on Lorelei to dig a well. She cannot get any water otherwise. I am not going to say what happens after that but the book is funny, moving and insightful. Add to that the fact that the novel is well written. I am going to get more of Marjorie Klein's books.
