This was unfortunately not a book for me. I did not get into it and the writing was not vibing. Thank you to Netgalley, publisher and author for my advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
I read this book in a matter of days it was that good! It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way through wanting to know how it was going to end!
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher/author for providing me with an ALC in exchange for my honest review.
OMG!!! This book was exactly what I wanted it to be! I loved it. I will make sure to check out other books by this author. When I requested this I was just intrigued by the concept of it and I loved how it turned out. This story had a great plot and if you have read this and enjoyed it, This was so much. It was such a great story. I would say give this one a try. I will continue to follow this author. Way to go to this author for not letting me down.
I highly enjoyed the narrator of the audiobook. Kept me listening.
An intense thriller, kind of dark and definitely heart pounding. I enjoyed reading this twisted story. 5 stars!!!
I did not finish this one, it was not for me, I couldn't relate to the characters, and just did not care for the story.
Such an interesting premise and it really delivers. This is one roller coaster of a read and i was totally there for the ride. i loved it
I didn’t really care for these characters but i did enjoy the plot. There were a lot of twists and turns along the way.
Many thanks to the author and to Netgalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
I didn't like all the profanity or the characters vocabulary, but the plot is intense. I'm not a fan of the ending.
The concept of Let’s Kidnap Me really gripped me, but the execution definitely left something to be desired. Our female main character was incredibly whiny, and the writing was rudimentary (what bothered me most about the writing was the excessive use of profanity. It wasn’t used in ways to really drive home the severity of the situation. Honestly, it seemed more like it was used as a way to up the word count.), which put together, made it a really difficult finish for me.
Wish I could have given a more positive review, since I received it as an ARC, but I have to be honest.
I don’t recommend Let’s Kidnap Me.
There are so many unexpected twists and turns in this book. Definitely kept me on my toes, couldn't guess what was coming up next.
I would love to read a sequel!
I really didn’t enjoy the style of writing- it put me off reading. I couldn’t adjust to it and so it stopped the flow and the enjoyment for me. The plot was good though- it just wasn’t for me.
I enjoy books where the same story is told from 2 different characters so I enjoyed that in this book. None of the characters were particularly likeable, they all seemed to have problems. However, I did have a soft spot for Corey. Why? Couldn't tell you.
When Zoey arrived at the motel and saw Claire, she should have turned away and left. She knew that Claire was crazy, what was she thinking? No good could come from being there alone with her.
The ending had the potential to ruin the book for me. Claire throwing Corey under the bus. I'd moved this book down to 2 starts. However, the very last line of the hook redeemed itself, because it gave me hope for Corey!
Claire:
Her language is descriptive but the way she speaks is childish. It doesn't really seem to fit together. It says that she's 24 but the way that she speaks makes her sound like more of a teenager at times.
Corey:
I have the same problem with Corey. He says that he's 26 but sometimes he sounds really immature in his word choice.
Really enjoyed this book …. Claire’s life isn’t going as she wanted getting fired from each dead end job her only saving grace is her boyfriend Corey - one of the good guys!! Corey and her only friend Zoey are her only outlets . Constant arguments with her mum and rich step father Claire is at her wits end … but then she comes up with a plan to Kidnap Herself dragging Corey into the plan . With a ransom of $2 million which Claire agrees to split with Corey the two go ahead with the plan. But things don’t work out quite as expected …. Great ending a story of greed and revenge
Twists upon twist upon twist!!!! This was a good read. Gave gone girl vibes. The writing was a bit too conversational for me. Lots of 'you get what I mean'. But other than that, it was a quick read and you get engrossed!
What. Did. I. Just. Read? This was such a wild ride from start to finish. I don't want to give too much away, but the description only touches the surface of how crazy this story was! If you are looking for a fast-paced book that keeps you guessing every chapter, you've found the right one!
I will definitely be looking into more books by Guillou in the future!
Wow! This story starts at 60 MPH and quickly ramps up to 90. By the end, you're doing a wild 180 MPH. It's clever, full of suspense, and packed with twists. This was my first book from this author but it surely won't be my last.
Claire is a typical mid-twenty millennial struggling with financial issues and living under her insufferable mother and wealthy stepfather's roof. Tired of her dead-end waitressing jobs and hopeless future, she hatches a plan with her longtime boyfriend, Corey, to fake her kidnapping and extort money from her parents. But, as it turns out, Corey has his own motivations and frustrations, and this scheme may not turn out as planned. Will their plan succeed, or will their relationship and future be jeopardized?
Thank you NetGalley and the independent publisher for accepting my request to read and review Let's Kidnap Me.

Shameful and disturbing abuse of talent, and disregard for others' time.
Guillou had a brilliant plan and outlined scene by scene. I'm guessing that part of writing is amazing and as an artist I would imagine fun. The title of the book is carried out -- so clever as was the ending.
At what point did Guillou calculate the profanity? One F- for every accepted publicly spoken word? One GD for every two spoken words? And, I don't even want to downplay the latest and trashy use of female genitalia.
When all the trash was taken out, I'm assuming this would be a novella.
I have never read anything from this author but I will be keen to read any other ones from them, my kind of book and one to look out for in the future
