Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this. This is my first book by JJ Knight and she did not disappoint!! This was such a cute rom com. I read it in two days and chuckled throughout.

Drew has one rule, no second dates! Ensley has crushed on him since she was 12. Together they go through a series of moments that make you want to continue to turn the page! From the very first encounter to the very last!

Things I loved:
Their back story
His love for animals
The way he surprises her at any given moment
Just the right amount of 🌶️
Her relationship with her sisters

If you’re looking for a good quick fun read. This is the one!

What a fun rom com! This reminded me of an early 2000s rom com movie with the way the story played out. The beginning of this book was hilarious! Ensley was such a fun and spunky character, and Drew was that grumpy sunshine character we all end up falling in love with. A quick and light hearted read!

I really raced through this enjoyable romance. I am not sure the title really tells you all that much about what to expect and possibly a little misleading. The title is just a snippet of one very small part of the story. This story is so much more than the wedding Drew and Ensley run in to each other again at. It is about a connection they forged when they were children and not even a romantic one but one in which they could depend on and rely upon each other, that is what is lost and found again when they do fall in love.
I liked that they just drifted apart like most people do and it was more a reunion rather than a big misunderstanding and any forced proximity wedding shenanigans.
Whilst the love story happened over a period of one week the everything else had already been implanted from childhood and then grew through their reconnection.

4/5 stars
2/5 spice

A cute story with a grumpy MMC and sunshine FMC. So much back and forth banter with these two and a cute story.

Tropes:
Childhood friends to lovers
Grumpy/sunshine
Forced proximity
Dual POV

Drew and Ensley see each other again after many years at a friend's wedding, reconnecting after getting stuck in a shed together in the rain.

What was suppressed to be a fling ends up being more when Ensley challenges Drew to 3 dates instead of his usual one night stand. Their easy camaraderie and banter with each other melts the icy exterior that Drew always has up... and soon he can't resist her.

You can totally tell that Drew catches feelings after they reconnect. But you only get the back story of Ensley having a girlhood crush on him and don't get a sense of his true feelings until the end. Although the storyline is predicated its still a cute, quick read with a nice side if spice.

I especially loved the adorable rescue kitten that plays a role in melting Drew's heart.

Trigger/content warnings:
Mentions of past trauma (i.e. death of parent, poverty, neglect, cheating)
Graphic sexual content

Fun and engaging storyline. Both main characters were equally sweet and frustrating at times - just like most people. I'd happily read more from JJ Knight!

What a perfect game of cat and mouse (pun intended!). I have a soft spot for the opposites attract trope and this book did not disappoint. Misunderstandings, bargains and the cat that was meant to be, The Wedding Confession had me tearing up and laughing at the same time. I loved that there were no jealous exes or conniving parents, just two stubborn people learning to be open with their love.

“He's told me no second dates. So this will be it. A one-time tryst. A wedding fling.”

I absolutely loved it !!!!! Wow !!! Funny, spicy, entertaining and romantic. This book was all of these things.
Ensley has had the greatest crush on Drew since she was twelve and he was her brother’s football mate … now they find themself at a wedding and secrets will be spilled. The blossoming of an attraction that will lead to very funny and hilarious moments shared between them that I love reading !!!!
Three dates together to explore their attraction and they even start working in the same space !!! Boss romane with some very opposite’s attraction like a grumpy/sunshine and silent/talkative dynamics that I was so in for !!!
This was the romance I didn’t know I need it right now and that I really enjoyed !!!!
And Drew was just … wow !!!! The spicy scenes were very romantic even sweeter than I thought and I liked that !!!
Overall I think it’s was a good and lighthearted read that everyone should experience !!!
“I am playing with a brushfire named
Ensley James.”

I’ve found it really nice, a cute light read, finished it in one sitting.
I’m usually not a big fan of short romances, always find everything too rushed together, but this time I think everything works perfectly, the timing seems right.

Ensley meets again Drew, her brother's childhood best friend, during her best friend's wedding; I was reading this book while on the train at it was really hard trying not to laugh out loud during the first scenes, I loved how she stepped forward for her friend during what would be the worst nightmare for every bride, genius!
Drew is the typical playboy, never had serious relation, not even an high school girlfriend, the motive in my opinion is a bit weak, but still understandable.

I'm not a fan of the misunderstanding trope, but here worked fine, still not my favourite, but at least was not dragged for too long and it was solved right away.

On the whole I really enjoyed it, absolutely recommend

I have never read anything from JJ Knight but was excited when I got this ARC. What a fun read! This book immediately jumps into an exciting plot line— Ensley’s best friend is getting married but her friends evil stepmother kicks her out of the wedding. When she is kicked out of the venue, none other than her childhood crush is there to save her. While I loved that we didn’t have to wait for things to get steamy with these two, I had wish there was a little more buildup before we jumped right in. This plot was fun and the author built up a great opposites attract storyline from the start. I really enjoyed the epilogue too. Without giving too much away, the epilogue was hilarious and provided for a great way to update us on the couple without being too cliché. I will say that this book did not have as much fun banter as I am used to. I did think it was a uncomfortable that we find out that Drew had a crush on Ensley when she was twelve and he was sixteen. I thought we could have done without that in the plot and the author could have just left it at Drew being Ensley’s childhood crush. Overall, I loved the plot but felt like this book needed a little more oomph to get a higher star ranking from me.

3.25/5 stars! This is your typical grumpy sunshine contemporary romance. I did appreciate that the story had dual POVs. It's always interesting to see the male's POV in romcoms. I liked the pacing and the general storyline. The biggest gap for me was the writing style felt more YA than contemporary romance. It was a decent read and I think some readers may really go for it.

I received an advance review copy for free through NetGalley, and I am leaving this review voluntarily

Thanks NetGalley for the eARC. My review is my own honest review.

I really enjoyed this romcom. Ensley and James are old acquaintances who meet up at a friends wedding. Due to a mishap they end up locked out and forced to find shelter during a storm. Sparks fly immediately and a pact is made. Drew only does one night stands. Ensley convinces Drew to give her three dates. Just to see if she can get him to change his ways. Throw in a ton of vet antics, spicy scenes, and you got a light hearted read.

This book is rather face paced and not a ton of backstory. The relationship starts off one sided, but you later learn why that is. It’s just a super quick read but still a cute story.

Ensley had a rough childhood. After her mother died, her dad spiralled into a deep depression, leaving 5 year-old Ensley to raise her two younger sisters while her older brother escaped the madness whenever possible.

The one bright light about her childhood? Her brother's friend, Drew. He made Ensley feel save, like one day, he was going to swoop in and save her.

But he never did. Instead, Ensley grew up to save herself. She has a job she loves, a roommate she loves (one of her sisters), and she's at her best friend's wedding. What could possibly go wrong?

Everything. The answer is everything. But while her world is crashing down, that one bright light reignites.

The Wedding Confession by JJ Knight has some serious Sweet Home Alabama vibes and I loved it! It's not often that I binge a book in 24 hours, but that happened with this book. I'm not sure what it was about Ensley and Drew, but they pulled me in and wouldn't let me go.

All of the common tropes were present: grumpy/sunshine complete with growling and barking of orders (which was perfect for a vet), age gap, grumpy boss, miscommunication, and second chance romance.

The one area I would have LOVED to be more fleshed out was Drew's feelings for Ensley when they were younger. I think there was a lot of potential for sweet throwbacks, but they didn't exist until near the end of the book as if they were an after thought.

Favorite Ensley quotes:
I might aspire to be sunshine, but I can burn.

“No prices on this, either. How can I order the cheapest thing on the menu to avoid looking like a gold digger if I don’t even know what they cost?”

Favorite Drew quotes:
Ensley, I would like to apologize for the most egregious email that was accidentally sent to you by my cat.

Our names are like revelations, like admissions. Like confessions. Something’s happened here. Unexpected. Glorious.

Thank you to NetGalley for an arc of The Wedding Confession in exchange for an honest review. This review is wholly my own & may not be reproduced.

This is a cute little, run of the mill rom-com. Nothing more, nothing less.

Ensley has had a crush on Drew for as long as she can remember. After they both get thrown out of a wedding, Drew confesses that he is only into one night stands. Ensley dares him to give her three dates instead and see what can happen, to which he agrees. Will they end up falling in love? Duh!

As for the writing – it was not my favorite style. It felt a little juvenile at times and conversations and transitions did not flow together much of the time. The characters were just ok – you don’t hate them, but you just really don’t care too much about them.

I had higher hopes for this novel. I am rating in 3 Stars.

The Wedding Confession is a friends to lovers romantic comedy by J J Knight, where the best man Drew and maid of honour Ensley get kicked out of a wedding after a not-so-accidental accident.
They get caught in the rain so they stay in a maintenance shed where they have a chance to reconnect.

What you’ll find in this book:
-cute fur babies
-grumpy x sunshine
-opposites attract
-childhood friends to lovers

Ensley James (the FMC) is a 26 year old bank teller from Alabama who is outspoken, and determined.
Drew Daniels (the MMC) is a 30 year old veterinarian in Atlanta who is more reserved compared to Ensley, and he is broody too, with a touch of a temper as well.

Sadly, I wish I loved this story more. When I read the synopsis, I was super excited to see everything play out, but it wasn’t for me. I couldn’t connect with the characters, and the relationship-building between them felt one-sided 80% of the time.
Drew was really closed-off most of the time, even in his own POV, so I didn’t have much to work with until way later.
Ensley felt like the one making the most effort so that there could be a relationship to start with between them. Although afterwards, I was able to understand Drew a bit more.

Despite being opposites, Ensley and Drew managed to work together nicely, and they actually did feel genuinely in love towards the end.

Overall this book was okay, and I actually do feel satisfied that I stayed until the end.
I loved seeing the added knowledge of veterinarian work in the story, and I absolutely loved that it was dual POV too.

This was such a great read! The characters were great, the story moved so well, the heat was intense and everything was so believable and real. The author really made the story sing. I enjoyed the story from the beginning with the wedding fiasco and appreciated the female lead who saved herself first. She didn't need him to swoop in and offer her a job. Can't wait to read more from this author!

This is my first time reading a book by this author. I enjoyed the book and storyline. It was an easy read. Some parts of the storyline were a little cheesy and unrealistic, but overall it was cute. If you like reading romance books, you will enjoy this one. I am interested in reading other books by this author now.

This was a quick, easy read that follows the typical love story formula - two people hook up and they each think the other one isn’t as into the relationship as they are, it ends and hearts are broken, then they get back together and live happily ever after.
The story was cute and we get to know the main characters quickly but a lot of little details were left out so some parts of the story seemed like they were added as an afterthought - for example, Ronnie and Franklin show up at Drew’s office to berate him about how he treated Ensley, but it was never mentioned in the story that Ensley had been texting Ronnie about what was going on. Also, Drew being the way he is because of his dad could have been mentioned much earlier in the story.
Despite some of the missed details, I enjoyed the book and would read more from this author.

The Wedding Confession by JJ. Knight is one of the most charming romantic comedies that I’ve encountered. Maid of Honor Ensley is kicked out of her best friend’s wedding, and bumps into her childhood crush Drew. They hilariously get caught in a downpour, take shelter in a run-down shack, and spend the moments reminiscing about childhood and sparking sexual chemistry.

Drew has one rule in his love life: absolutely no second dates. Ensley challenges him to three dates to see if he is capable of change and finding a connection. On the surface this is a typical meet-cute, grumpy/sunshine, and somewhat predictable rom-com. While being an easy read, I found that the characters had significant depth and emotional complexity that affected their actions. Multiple difficult topics are discussed in the book, while somehow never bringing the reader’s mood down.

What I loved:
•Amazing dialogue and banter
•Spice that felt realistic🌶🌶🌶
•Drew is a veterinarian and there are multiple animal characters that I found endearing.

Add this to your list if you like
🐶Animals
🌦Grumpy/Sunshine
🌶Moderate level of spice
❤️Childhood friends to lovers
😂Laugh-out-loud dialogue

5/5⭐️

I received an advanced reader's copy of The Wedding Confession (Wedding Meet Cute) by JJ Knight from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

JJ Knight was a new author to me and a nice find (will definitely look for other novels by this author).

Overall, I enjoyed this novel. The main characters - grumpy, commitment-adverse veterinarian Drew Daniels and determined optimist Ensley James - were an entertaining pair and secondary characters were well developed. I liked the characters’ banter, chemistry, and story arc. The novel was well written and the plot was engaging, if a bit predictable.

You can’t help but love characters in the book. You love them from the beginning. Drew is the best, especially since he’s a veterinarian and loves animals. I really enjoyed this book and definitely recommend it!
