5/5 stars! I had heard about this book from many author recommendations so I was stoked to get the opportunity to read it. I ADORE books that deal with FMC who are assassins/spies/poison masters/sorceresses so this book was right up my alley. The premise made me think of "Daughter of No Worlds," which was one of my favorite reads of 2022. The world-building in this book was handled perfectly and Aya was a fully-fleshed-out character who exhibits growth and resilience across the story. The slow-burn romance was painfully slow. Necessary, but it made my heart hurt. Really looking forward to seeing what's next.
