Great story - the world building was impressive and they were all brilliantly conceived and different. The characters were all well drwan and relatable, and the villians were truly scary. There was certainly a thread of darkness woven through the beautifully crafted worlds, and some unexpected twists. I will certainly recommend to our young readers.

I hadn't seen Sam Gayton's work before, but this has definitely sparked my interest. I went and purchased The Snow Merchant straight after finishing this as I saw it'd been illustrated by Chris Riddell as well!

Anyway, World Weavers - this was so far from what I expected. It was really imaginative and inventive, from the world building to the characters, to the systems of travel and magic etc. It was also so much darker than I was prepared for! But this was part of its brilliance - it reminded me of things like Coraline, Labyrinth, or the work of Nix, Jarvis, or Stewart & Riddell. I couldn't get over how unusual it was, or how deep some of the themes were.

I had one tiny dislike in the whole thing, and that was the use of the word "bestie" - I think that's just my age talking though! I think initially I struggled to get attached to the characters, and when the POV changes, it's a little surprising, but when everything comes together, it really makes sense.

I loved the writing style and the world-building, and I will absolutely be recommending this to others, as well as picking up any more of Gayton's work that I come across :)
