I loved the story it looks as very compelling Callie rented a beach cottage to get away from everyone after a tragedy. while she’s in Town she bumps into Vanessa who she has been following on Instagram then finds out that the cottage she is renting belongs to her they then become friends but don’t be fooled there are a lot of twists to this story.

With thanks to Netgalley for this free ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily

This book is wonderfully descriptive and centres around Vanessa, Callie, Rachel and the world of social media. Gripping and enthralling but also tragic. All the characters are beautifully portrayed with plenty of twists to their stories. This is very well written and a thoroughly enjoyable read - I liked the addition of the last few chapters that tied it all together and gave a definitive ending

Very creepy what social media hides and this sums it up. Twisted and dark this makes for thrilling reading. #TheTruthAboutHer #NetGalley

Facade And Reality..
When Callie stays in a beach hut in Whitstable owned by successful influencer Vanessa Lowe a bizarre and dangerous sequence of events begins to unfold. As Callie attempts to separate fact from fiction, whilst juggling her own demons, she may well be placing herself in more peril and open to more devastation than she could possibly imagine. Vanessa appears to have it all, but what exactly is she hiding? After all, appearances can be deceptive. Highlighting the facade of social media and the fine line between actual reality comes an edgy and swiftly moving suspense, with a deftly drawn cast, where not everything is as it seems.

It's an uneasy read. Not being at all interested in Social media I found it intriguing to see how the influence of it is so widely spread, and also how much reliance is put on one person's opinions.
The descriptions of the families, and particularly the interactions of the children, JJ especially, are amazingly well described.
Thank you for a review copy of this book. It wasnt an enjoyable read but it was a very well written book.

This is absolutely my kind of story! I love modern thrillers that take into account modern jobs and social media! I loved the writing style, ot flowed and was a really easy and enjoyable read. I loved thebtwists and turns and the deceit and lies. The characters were really well written and multi dimensional. It was just so easy to get completely sucked into the story and forget the outside world. Must read!

What a fantastic book, which shows the inherent dangers of social media and its toxicity.
Vanessa seemed too good to be true which I suppose most Instagram influencers are: Callie on the other hand was likeable from the beginning, same applies to Rachel too. I loved how Vanessa’s instagram updates were woven into the story. I also enjoyed the two timelines. JJ’s perspective was really interesting too, showing us his side and the abuse he suffered along with his siblings. Annie Taylor has written a great book, I would recommend this to all of my friends. It is a compulsive and propulsive read: I would give it ten stars if I could.
With my thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for the advance copy of the book.

Excellent book. I didn't see the ending coming. I could not put this down. Really enjoyed the writing style and the viewpoints from different characters. I didn't know who to trust. I liked that Vanessa's Instagram posts were woven throughout too. This is the only book I have read by this author but I would definitely read more. Thank you for allowing me to read and review.

Thank you NetGalley for this advanced copy. Wow be careful making new friends! Callie goes on a vacation and encounters, Vanessa, who is a social media influencer. At first they seem to be getting along until Vanessa's son disappears. Vanessa's past friendship with Rachel is revealed in chapters and the reader can see what kind of person Vanessa really is. Watch out for new friends that you think you can trust. What really happened to her son? what kind of person is Vanessa? some twists I didn't see coming, but overall it was too long for me. Not bad.

Callie rents a beach cottage, ready to escape and relax for a bit. She is surprised to find that the owner is influencer Vanessa Lowe, famous for her Instagram posts. Callie initially looks forward to getting to know Vanessa, but soon realises there may be more to her than meets the eye...

A thrilling read that keeps you turning the pages until the shocking ending. I liked how the chapters went between different narrators, and how everything came together. Full of twists and turns and shocks, brilliant!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy of the book in return for my honest feedback.

One of those books, where pretty soon in, the seeds are sown, and you begin to doubt what you are told.
Things just don't feel right.
I over analysed far too many comments, so much so that I imagined the story was going a completely different way.
Not sure if there were false clues, or I've read too many of these sorts of books.

Great pacing, interesting character, all round, and enjoyable read.

Once I picked this book up I couldn’t put it down. Nothing grabs hold of me more than when we think about social media and how much it can effect our lives. With a past and present storyline seamlessly told we watch the relationship Vanessa has with two different women develop as the search for her missing son happens. Everyone is suspect. Trust no one. Hold on to the edge of your seat for the shocking jaw dropping ending.

Callie is getting away from a tragedy and her mother has booked her a cabin in Whitstable for two weeks before she rejoins the family for Christmas.

Callie arrives and meets the owner, who is also an influencer she has followed on Instagram.

Vanessa, the owner invites Callie to dinner and seems wonderful but sadly the good times end when Vanessa’s son goes missing and Callie is interviewed by the police.

There is a historical narrative alongside present day and while I enjoyed both sides I found it rushed at the end. I wasn’t clear at the end of the book just how things ended up escalating to the point they did, but I enjoyed the book.

This book was fantastic wasn’t sure what to expect but this was great. Kept me gripped through out.

Callie has hired a two week getaway house by the sea. Callie has just went through an awful period in her life so wants some time to just be herself and try to relax. Then Callie meets Vanessa who is a popular instagram influencer. By meeting Vanessa and her family means Callie’s break away will be anything but relaxing.

Excellent read which grips you from start to finish it has lots of twists and turns. It is also an emotional read with a few sensitive subjects which the author done well with. Will definitely be recommending this book to all.
