Summer Wedding is definitely a book to remind you not to judge a book by it's cover. The cover art suggests you might find a light hearted beach read within it's pages however as the story unfolds it becomes the complete opposite. Summer Wedding is told from three perspectives - the bride and her two daughters, Adeline and Cassie. The story begins with the two daughters recieving an invitation to their mothers upcoming wedding to a mystery groom, as this will be their mothers 4th wedding the girls are naturally apprehensive about who is after their mother this time. The sisters are polar opposites and have a somewhat estranged relationship in the beginning but over time and as they learn of the events in their history that have led them to this day they are able to mend what once was broken. The mother is an author and is a very successful romantic novelist who has created powerful stories not only in her fictional works but in reality also, the fairytale world she has created is about to come crumbling down as her dark secret bubbles away underneath and the girls finally uncover the truth about their childhoods.
I really enjoyed this novel and look forward to reading more from Sarah Morgan
I absolutely loved this book. Although it feels wrong to say that when it deals with such challenging issues as childhood emotional traumas and the resulting impact on adult emotional behaviour.
Adeline and Cassie are invited to their mother’s wedding at her home on Corfu. This is Catherine Swift’s fourth wedding and neither daughter knows the identity of Catherine’s husband to be. Adeline’s relationship with her mum isn’t good. Its distance caused by Catherine sending Addie to live with her dad once new baby Cassie comes along following her relationship with Cassie’s dad - the love of her life.
The setting of this book, Corfu, in Catherine’s gorgeous home, is wonderfully well described. It sits alongside the fractured relationships of the family and balances everything out beautifully.
If I have a complaint, it’s that early descriptions of Adeline and Cassie’s emotional states seem very extreme. Adeline is apparently devoid of deep emotion, seeing everything on a practical level, including her relationship with her boyfriend.
Cassie, meanwhile, is a complete romantic, waiting for her own coup de foudre, to the extent she misses what’s under her nose. They are a little infuriating!
Once I got over that, and the initial reveal is over, I just enjoyed the story more and more.
Yes, Sarah allows you to see what’s coming (although there are some surprises) and there could be a touch more Maria but all in all, I really liked this story and found its emotional insight quite moving.
Thanks to the publishers for an early copy.
I’ve been a fan of Sarah Morgan’s books for a while and immediately found myself immersed in Summer Wedding. It’s set on the beautiful Greek island of Corfu and you are instantly transported there. The descriptions, the food, you can almost smell the tang of the sea l, feel the heat of the sun and taste the delicious spanokopita. Catherine Swift is a successful romance novelist but with three failed marriages, it seems she’s not very lucky in love. Still with marriage number four on the horizon, she invites her daughters, Adeline and Cassie out to her Greek villa to help celebrate her latest nuptials. Relations with both daughters can be quite strained but she’s hoping this wedding wi bring the family back together. It’s a novel full of family secrets, about forgiving, building relationships, love and hope and I enjoyed every page. Thank you to NetGalley, HQ and the author for the chance to review.
I found Summer Wedding to be a really easy to read book with a focus on family connects and some romantic links developed along the way. The story focused on the complex relationships of two sisters, Adeline and Cassie along with their mother, Catherine. Events from the past have caused a great deal of unresolved tension but the family are brought together by a summer island wedding. Whilst I found the book a quick, easy read I also felt a little frustrated by some of the characters who could have solved many problems by communicating better. It was an idyllic setting and sweet ending.
Another great book from Sarah Morgan a real insight into family secrets and lies. The story is about Catherine Swift a successful author who lives in Corfu and is getting married for the 4th time and invites both her daughters.
Adeline is her first born daughter and Cassie is the daughter of the man her mother had a affair with and left Adeline's father to marry.
Adeline decides to attend the wedding so she can confront her mother as to why she sent her away, Cassie just wants to see her half sister again. I felt sorry for Adeline as she has so much anger towards her mother whereas Cassie is easy going.
This story tugs at your emotions as lies are unfolded and the truth comes out which leaves the family in turmoil but keeps you guessing what will happen next with surprising results.
Would highly recommend and can't wait for the next book.
Thanks to NetGalley & HQ for a ARC for a honest review.
I’ve read a few books by Sarah Morgan now and they never fail to disappoint! In this book we get to follow Catherine who is getting married for the 4th time, but her two daughters have different opinions about this. Adeline is not happy but Cassie is over the moon that her mum is getting another chance at romance. The story really portrays how their relationships grow over time and I really enjoyed this! Overall I thought it was the perfect holiday read and I’ll definitely be recommending it to my friends!
I do enjoy Sarah Morgan books and especially the relationships she creates between the characters. Catherine is getting married for the fourth time at her villa in Corfu. Her two daughters have different opinions on this. Adeline is not happy about it as her mother's previous affair resulted in her half sister Cassie being born. Cassie on the other hand, think it is romantic and wants her mother to be happy. As they gather on Corfu before the wedding, things come to a head. It's a great summer read and very enjoyable. Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.
Another fab read from Sarah Morgan. Touches on complicated family relationships, the impacts of secrets and lies, particularly on children right through to adulthood and ultimately had a happy ending.
My thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book.
Bestselling romance author Catherine Swift is getting married again and can't wait for her two daughters to meet her future husband. She invites them to spend 2 weeks with her at the family home on Corfu to celebrate the wedding. Unfortunately, the two women could not feel more differently about the upcoming celebrations.
Adeline is amazed that her mother is still behaving like one of the characters in her books, believing in a happy ever after and is reluctant to attend. Cassie is excited and pleased that her mother hasn't given up on love and is hoping it will be 4th time happy for her.
Adeline and Cassie have very little in common and rarely see each other but they are both in for a shock when they discover who the 4th Husband will be.
As they come to terms with their mother’s decision it will make them question things about their lives that they previously took for granted.
Could the one person they have never agreed about, their mother, be the one to inadvertently bring them together and help them finally bond.
Set on the sun soaked island of Corfu, this story of family, long held secrets and hidden memories is the perfect escape this summer.
This is only my second Sarah Morgan novel, and something which I need to change because I have loved both of them! Neither were what I was expecting - I assumed they were romance novels but they're more than that, they're about people and relationships with friends and family as well as the romance element.
This particular one had me hooked from the start. It follows romance author Catherine Swift, who has just informed her two daughters that she's getting married for a fourth time. Adeline is unhappy with the news, while her romantic half sister Cassie is excited! However, right from the start we find out that Adeline and Cassie aren't close and find spending time together awkward. It was from then on that I became invested in their relationship, and the reasons behind all of this. I don't want to give too much away because there are a lot of secrets in the book that are best to read as you go, but seeing how all the relationships developed, especially Adeline and Cassie's, was really nice.
I really did enjoy this book. There's sun, sea, a summer wedding, romance, but there's also much more to the book than that. There are some more difficult issues and it just made you want to keep reading to see if they all got their happy endings.
Thank you so much to Sarah Morgan, HQ, and Netgalley for the arc of this book!
(A review is also going to be posted to Instagram in the next few days! 😃)
I enjoyed this story as it was so much more than a romance. It spoke of family distanced from each other, family secrets and more. It was a substantial read that made me smile and feel close to tears at times.
The characters were interesting and charming, Catherine was a very emotional person, forever the romantic, Andrew her ex was going his own way in life and enjoying it but still holding a torch for Catherine, Aderline, their oldest daughter was withdrawn, always in control of her emotions and never in situations she wasn't happy to be in and finally Cassie, their youngest daughter, was cheerful, always saw the good in people and always optimistic. There were also three other main characters, Maria, Catherine's long time friend, Stephanie, Maria's son and Aderline's childhood friend and finally Oliver, Cassie's best friend. Together, they made a story come to life but the main message was second chances can come around when you least expect it!!.
I received this free ARC book for an honest review.

Sarah Morgan once more gifts us a romance story that is more than just your average romance story. This book explores some deeper issues while also delivering on the kind of feeling you'd want from a romance novel. I personally also loved that our main character was a writer, i love books about books.
A bestselling romance author about to marry for the fourth time. Her two daughters, one estranged, one not, travelling to Corfu for the wedding. A lot of history about to be re-examined...
Having three separate points of view could get too confusing, but Sarah Morgan balances them very well, subtly highlighting the different ways Adeline, Cassie and Catherine view the same events and carefully doling out snippets of information about their shared past. I admit that I saw most of the plot twists coming, but that didn't prevent me enjoying the wahy they unfolded. This is a love story that examines love in its many facets: between parents and children, between friends, as infatuation, how it changes as people get older, and (in a rather meta kind of way) how what's depicted in fiction bears little resemblance to real life. A very enjoyable and engrossing read.
Sarah Morgan has done it again! Her books never fail to make me happy and this was a fun time throughout.
It took me a couple of chapters to get into this story but then I was hooked. It is a fascinating look at life and the choices we make. A family gather for a Wedding on the Greek Island of Corfu. Two step sisters who never really got along find a new connection following revelations about their past. We hear about the many sides of falling in and out of love. Is there really someone out there for everyone and If so how do you know when you find them?
Catherine Swift is a best-selling romance author who is about to get married for the fourth time. Both her daughters have been invited to Corfu, but Catherine has not disclosed the groom.
Adenine is not happy that her mother is getting married. They do not have a close relationship.
Cassie is upset her mother is remarrying as she thought her father was the love of Catherine's life before he died.
I liked how the family dynamics changed through the story. How the sisters got close.
The setting was absolutely gorgeous. I want a holiday in that villa.
A perfect summer read.
Thank you to HQ for the invitation to read in return for an honest review.
Thanks to Netgalley
Wow! Another stunning summer novel by Sarah Morgan.
I'm a huge fan of Sarah Morgan's books so I was super excited to read this one and it definitely ranks as one of the best she's written.
I loved the Greek island setting which was simply perfect for an escapist summer read, The characters were all compelling and I was hooked from the first page.
This book strikes the ideal balance between dealing with tough issues such as family relationships and rejection whilst also being a light-hearted, fun read.
A must-read this summer!
Catherine Swift is a romance author with 2 daughters and 3 failed marriages under her belt. She is getting married for the 4th time and wants her daughters to be there and for the sisters to finally get close. Catherine is also keeping the identity of her groom secret until they are all together,
Adeline is the eldest daughter and she can’t believe her mother is getting married for a fourth time. For Adeline it is bringing back the pain of her mother’s infidelity and the baby sister, Cassie, who was the result of the affair. Adeline doesn’t blame Cassie but she has never tried to get to know her baby sister either.
Cassie is so happy for her mother cannot wait for the wedding but she also has a big secret to tell. Cassie is hoping that the summer in Corfu will help her give her the time to process everything.
I love a Sarah Morgan book and have mostly read her Christmas based books so reading a summer one was a nice change for me. Originally the character of Adeline annoyed me but when you got to know her story she was actually quite likeable. Did I guess the identity of the groom straight away? Yes but it didn’t spoil anything for me and it’s revealed quite early on anyway. I really enjoyed the full range of characters and found the setting enjoyable. I guessed part of the storyline but again it didn’t spoil the flow of the book or the reading experience. After reading this I think I need to visit Corfu and find myself a Stefanos. Overall a really great book
I'm a big fan of Sarah Morgan's books and Summer Wedding is an enjoyable read.
Set on the beautiful island of Corfu, author Catherine Swift is getting married for the fourth time.
Her two daughters arrive on the island for the wedding, keen to meet the mystery groom.
Shocks follow and secrets are revealed, before the family are able to heal fractures in their relationships.
Lacking a little in pace, this is a good book for the beach.
You are never disappointed by a Sarah Morgan book. What do you do when your mum announces that she is going to get married for the fourth time? Two very different daughters, from two different marriages, now adults have different relationships with their mother.
One a loving and close relationship and the other estranged.
Secrets are unearthed and relationships fracture. Can they accept and overcome the secrets?
Enjoy I did
