Great read, a romance with sad bits but good ending. Set mainly in Corfu and I could imagine the scenery, beaches and warm sun. Story of a divorces couple finding each other again after a couple of decades, they hadn't lost touch during that time because they had a daughter, but there had been great misunderstandings between them when they were married and between the mother daughter. The mum had had 2 other marriages in-between, they were disasters, one of the husbands dying from a fall. A second daughter was born during the second marriage, that of course leads to further misunderstandings, however everything comes clear in the end and the family is reunited.
A good book always given to us by Sarah Morgan and this one is just as good. Into it from the very first page and it holds the interest right to the end. Didn't want to put it down. Highly recommend this with 5 stars.
Thanks to Netgalley and publisher for this ARC
Thank you to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this. A book different to my usual fare - or so I thought - but this romance had bite.
Catherine Swift is a bestselling romance author. She’s about to be married for the fourth time, and yet she hasn’t told her daughters who the groom will be. There has to be a reason for this, and of course the journey to finding out why is fraught with tension.
Set on an idyllic Corfu, the focus of the book is Catherine and her relationship. But through it we also get to explore the relationship she shares with her two daughters and the gradual revelations about her history. None of the characters were what they first appeared and there was a genuine sense of warmth as I closed the pages having seen them on their journey.
This was a first for me with Sarah Morgan, and it did not disappoint! Catherine was such a good character to follow and I loved the complexity of her family dynamics. It showed just how there is no "normal". The insight into a writer is always something I enjoy. This book was cute and dealt with some serious themes, and I was here for it!
Secrets, family relationship and a little bit of love…
I love how Sarah Morgan writes relationships and friendship in her books and the complexity of the family dynamics are always so good. The characters are always so complex and I really enjoyed this family working its way back to each other again.
What a wonderful look at family dynamics in this compelling story.
From the prologue which seemed like it could have belonged quiet easily in another genre of book, but it did make sense I promise, to the myriad of secrets in this story, this is just wonderful.
It's pure escapism, set on Corfu, with Catherine and her two daughters Adeline and Cassie, who all have differing levels of closeness with each other. The half sisters barely know each other, Adeline struggles generally with her mother, and Cassie is quite like her mother, seeing the world through a creative lens.
I devoured this story in no time at all, and loved swapping between the three ladies viewpoints, giving a great insight into their various relationships. There is an incredibly tricky family dynamic to navigate and it did take me a short while to work out the relevant parts of the family tree.
The biggest secret of the book I guessed fairly early on, but that didn't remotely spoil my enjoyment of the journey of seeing if I was right, as well as seeing immense character development, especially from Adeline.
And this is a great look at the highs and lows of being an author.
I loved the setting, the dynamics, the writing, and I just devoured this novel in no time at all. Was just brilliant and another winner from one of my auto read authors, Sarah Morgan.
Thank you to HQ and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
I'm a big fan of Sarah Morgan's books so I lapped up the opportunity to read this one.
Plus I also enjoy stories about mothers and daughters. It was also interesting that Morgan gave Catherine the career of a successful writer. Her eldest daughter is estranged from her. Plus Adeline also doesn't talk to her younger half sister Cassie anymore. Although there were really close when they were little. Loved that the setting moved to Corfu for most of the book. A really enjoyable story.
I’m not quite sure where to start with this. Overall I enjoyed the book, I liked the dark twist and the love that grew between all the characters giving happy endings. But I found that at times it just over analysed everything and there was too much information. The second half was certainly where the action started. I appreciate that the characters background and scene needs to be set and there were three points of view to represent, but maybe it could have been a bit more condensed.
However, having said that, I did get very drawn in from about 70% in and couldn’t stop reading. The characters had real depth and each had something that was easy to identify with. Catherine for protecting her family and fictionalising her past, Adeline for trying to protect herself from more heartache, and Cassie trying to understand her place and looking for love everywhere.
Another fantastic 5star book from Sarah Morgan. Catherine is a successful romance writer but her personal life is less than perfect. The storyline goes between Catherine and her 2 daughters Adeline and Cassie. A summer wedding in Corfu is not what anyone was expecting but what pans out you couldn’t predict. A great read with my only criticism is that some chapters are quite long. Thanks to Sarah and her publisher. Thanks also to NetGalley.
Catherine Swift is a best selling romance author. She has two daughters, having a strained relationship with one of them.
Newly engaged, Catherine is counting down the days to wedding number four, at her villa in Corfu.
Catherine is extremely hopeful that this wedding will bring her family back together again.
Adeline the eldest daughter feels obliged to attend her mother’s latest wedding. Cassie the younger daughter cannot wait to go, she loves Corfu, it’s where she was raised.
The groom is a mystery man as their invitations arrive, why is their mother keeping him a secret?
It is many years since I last visited Corfu, but this book transported me right back there. I really liked reading about the Greek food, blue skies, and invitingly glistening blues seas.
Personally I didn’t warm to the character of Catherine.
The book is written in chapters by Catherine, Adeline and Cassie.
I felt I resonated with parts of the Adeline and Cassie relationship story.
The book covers a dysfunctional family life that aims to restore good relationships through love and understanding.
It was a lovely idea to set this novel on the island of Corfu.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Publisher for an advanced e-book copy. Opinions about the book are entirely my own.
A really good read from Sarah Morgan.
Set in Corfu, this book explores family relationships in a blended - or not blended - family. Past hurts, misunderstandings and secrets make for a lot of emotions.
One to enjoy
I love Sarah Morgan’s books and this one does not disappoint!
I loved the insight into the life of a writer and the publishing world! The characters were strong and I loved the different personalities and foibles they all had.
The prologue intrigued me as it was not what I was expecting for the start of a light hearted book, but it was brilliant and fitted perfectly with the book overall.
A perfect setting and a perfect balance between gritty reality of relationships and feel good elements.
Brilliant!
I gave this book 4*as I thought it was a bit long in places. There was a lot of analysing the situation that Catherine's daughters found themselves in.
It was a total shock for Cassie and Adeline when they received invitations to their mother's fourth wedding. And even more so when they discovered who the groom was!
I did get involved with the story and loved the fabulous location and description of it.
I just longed to be on holiday in Catherine's villa.
Thank you netgalley.co.uk
Sisters Adeline and Cassie were invited to stay for two weeks, in July, at their mothers beautiful villa on the island of Corfu. Their mother Catherine Swift, a famous novelist, was getting married for the fourth time. The girls could think of nothing worse especially as Adeline was estranged from her mother and hardly knew her half sister Cassie. Mysteries and surprises to follow.
Well, I couldn't put this book down, another fabulous book by Sarah Morgan, hooked me on the first page and kept me there until the end. Kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish yet again.
It's amazing how much a surname can help or hinder you in life.
As we join the Swifts for a family wedding their personalities make it immediately obvious it wont be plain sailing. They all learn and grow as people during the book and despite not liking some people at the start I did by the end!
This is a great summer romance.
Adeline and Cassie are off to Corfu for their mother's wedding but they're in for a surprise or two. The two sisters are not very close but maybe this trip might change everything. Secrets are to be revealed but could this bring the family together or tear them apart?
I do love a Sarah Morgan book. They are always full of depth and emotion. This one did not disappoint. I did figure out parts of it but still enjoyed the story and the conclusion. The plot is a steady, easy read. Perfect for the beach. The ending was really well done and tied all the stories off nicely. The writing really captures the beautiful location and the intensity of the scenes. A brilliant summer read.
What I initially thought was going to be just another summer romance book turned out to be so much more. A book about love and family and relationships.
When Catherine sends her daughters an invitation to her wedding, she doesn’t tell them who she is going to be marrying. But when this is marriage number 4, does it really matter? Adeline and Cassie have been estranged for years so having to spend time at their mothers wedding isn’t going to be easy…
A great book that makes you think about romance but also consider the darker side to relationships.
Thanks to netgalley and publishers for arc
Sarah’s books are always easy to read and thoroughly enjoyable and this wasn’t an exception, it follows a romance writer Catherine Swift and her two very different daughters Adeline and Chrissy
It’s also based on Corfu which just makes you feel summery and happy
I loved just falling into this book and it was so easy to read and almost become an extra character in the book
A very enjoyable story that I could have read in one sitting given the chance!
As the story develops and you learn more of the characters you feel you are invested in them, want to know their story and where their lives are headed.
The author really manages to set the scene well and you feel like you are right there, watching the characters.
Would definitely read more from this author.
