A really great read again from Sarah Morgan. When Catherine reluctantly returns to Corfu where her mother is planning her 4th wedding things get of to a rocky start and there are many secrets that come to light that she and her half sister have to try and come to terms with before relationships and trust can be mended.Full of interesting characters and a wonderful location for this fantastic story. I loved it
Sarah Morgan at her best . A book dealing with a mother and her two daughters. Lots of emotions covered. A mothers love was questioned . I can’t say too much without spoiling it. You had three love stories as well Old and new which were lovely. An intense but enjoyable read
I have only read Christmas books by this author before and have liked all of them. This is the first book by Sarah Morgan that I didn’t fully enjoy. Perhaps I read it at the wrong time of year and should have waited until I was on holiday. I may be alone in this but I found it a bit predictable and wasn't hooked by the story. The language was a mix of US and UK English which seemed odd, especially the use of Mom by English women.
The setting was good and I enjoyed hearing about it as I am visiting the area later this year.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the ARC.
I’m yet to find a Sarah Morgan book I can put down without devouring in one sitting. Relatable, loveable characters and beautiful settings are just some of the reasons I love everything this author writes. Another bestseller for sure.
I think I might be alone in this however this is the first Sarah Morgan book I’ve really not enjoyed. I found it very predictable from the start, overly long, going over the same things over and over again from the viewpoint of 3 main characters. No real surprises as the plot thickens. So unlike any other book of the author’s I’ve ever read which are always at least a4 star
I loved the setting and felt beautifully transported to the sunny Greek island with its smells and warmth of its food, weather and people.
I’m sorry it’s not the review I was hoping to give! Thank you to Netgalley the author and publishers for an arc in exchange for an honest review
Soaked In Sun..
As a Summer Wedding approaches on the sun drenched Greek island of Corfu, family dynamics are about to come into play and long kept secrets may well be revealed. It may also be an opportunity for new beginnings and fresh starts. A wonderfully escapist tale, a family drama with a thread of romance, a deftly crafted cast and a deliciously soaked in the sun setting.
Another fabulous read from Sarah Morgan, oh how I love her books! This is no exception to the great reads that I have come to expect, however this is much more of a family drama than a romance. Set around a summer wedding in Corfu, Catherine, her two daughters Adeline and Cassie, and her soon to be (fourth) husband find themselves in an uncomfortable situation, where explosive secrets are revealed, old hurts aired and relationships questioned. By the time the wedding is due to be celebrated will anything ever be the same again? A wonderful, twisty tale, perfect for the beach. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
It’s always exciting when an email arrives in my inbox advertising a new book from a favourite author. But I was especially excited to hear from HQ to tell me that Sarah’s new book was available to request. It might be February and still a season away from Summer, but it’s never too early to be whisked away for a foray into the sun.
Full of shadowy secrets, misunderstandings and family drama, this book doesn’t disappoint. Once again Sarah has handed us an uplifting and positive book with her trademark emotional plots and deeply relatable characters.
Summer Wedding is a sun-soaked get-away in the shape of a novel. Set on the Greek island of Corfu with it’s sandy beaches, crystal blue waters and bright blooming flowers, you really felt like you were somewhere else for a while whilst reading this. Forget ‘beach read’, this book is the holiday.
But Summer Wedding isn’t all fun and frivolities (although there is a lot of that too), in a deviation from Sarah’s usual style this book also contains dark secrets, emotional trauma and mysterious pasts. I really enjoyed this change of pace and although the book at its heart is a positive, fun read, the darker elements really brought a lot of depth to the story. And it was interesting to try and play detective for a while to try and uncover the secrets before they were revealed to us.
I really loved the relationships between the three main characters, too. There’s a mother who’s connection with her daughters has become strained, and two sisters who have moved so far apart that it seems impossible for them to come back together again. Let’s just say my eyes welled up a few times throughout this book. And alongside this there’s touches of romance too, with second chances and lessons about opening up the heart to learn to love again. The romantic interests are supportive and caring people, all of them showing us what love should be like. It’s not all fairytales and rainbows, but it’s about being there for the other person throughout, and having their back. I loved that.
Plus this is a book about books which was a lot of fun to read. Catherine, one of our main characters, is a bestselling romance author and it was interesting to get a glimpse into the world of writing, publishers and book promotion.
SUMMARY
All in all, Summer Weddings is an uplifting contemporary drama, about family and love. It’s a slightly darker deviation from Sarah’s usual style, which introduced a little mystery and intrigue to the book, but it’s escapism at its finest and a proper page turner.
Thank you for allowing me to review this book.
Adeline & Cassie are estranged half sisters with very different personalities. Adeline is very straight with little time for empathy or emotion. Cassie is totally the opposite. They are bought together for their mothers 4th wedding in Corfu. The setting and descriptions are well written. The storyline of romance and heartache are slightly predictable. It was an easy read and would make a good holiday read.
Adeline is a practical person. Everything she does is well planned and executed. Nothing about her life is spontaneous and she’s happy with that. Working in London, she doesn’t see her family often. Her mother, famous author Catherine Swift in corfu, their relationship quite a strenuous one, her father living in cape cod who she’s close to but doesn’t see often and her half sister Cassie, who lives nearer but with a big age gap and living apart the majority of their lives their relationship is strained.
So when Adeline receives news her mother is remarrying, for the fourth time, she’s reluctant to join the celebrations. The whole affair promises to be difficult and awkward and she considers not attending. She was there for the last wedding and look how that turned out.
So when her father convinces her to reluctantly go, she does.
But what follows is nothing short of a disaster. With the past coming back to destroy the celebrations, will the wedding actually go ahead, or will the past ruin the future for the whole family?
As a reader of this authors books I was excited to read this summery story as mostly I’ve read and enjoyed her Christmas books.
The story itself was easy to get into and read. It’s the sort of book that you know exactly how it’ll make you feel. There were parts of the plot I had figured out beforehand but that didn’t stop me loving it. The description of corfu was so great I could imagine myself (at this moment sat in rainy England) sitting on the sun drenched beach with an umbrella decorated cocktail in one hand, book in the other and sunglasses perched on my nose. (Definitely wishful thinking!)
It was a heartwarming book about family and it’s trials and how a parent will go to the ends of the earth to protect their children. Written from Adeline, Cassie and Catherine’s points of view it is a fantastic book that will make a brilliant beach read this summer.
I felt incredibly privileged to be asked to read Sarah’s latest novel in advance of publication.
What can I say…. A fantastic read… I literally could not put it down, I read this is one sitting.
There’s nothing like being transported away to another place, what hing the characters in the novel grow and develop.
A real feel good novel
5 stars ⭐️ from me
Well Sarah Morgan has done it again. A wonderful book some thing so different a love story of a family.
Catherine Swift her 2 daughters from different fathers, who through circumstances grew up apart had nothing in common, had to meet up for their mother's wedding. How the past had made Adeline into the person she was. She did not believe in been spontaneous but had everything sorted with precision. Then Cassie who was totally the opposite to her sister.
With the past truths and lies coming to a forefront changed the lives of everyone.
A book well worth reading. This is one book that could be taken from real life and not fiction.
I absolutely enjoyed this book. I found it hard to put down. Each chapter was about 1 of the 3 main characters Adeline, Cassie and Catherine giving each chapter personalisation.
This is one book I shall buy when it is released.
An interesting holiday read set in beautiful Corfu. It’s all about family, a mothers love and step sisters with such different memories of their childhood. As always Sarah Morgan’s beautifully descriptive writing pulls you into the story, there was laughter, there were tears but as past secrets are revealed there is also forgiveness and understanding.
Romance author Catherine Swift is excited for her daughters to meet the man she is planning to marry. She has arranged a small ceremony at her home on the beautiful island of Corfu. Adeline has fought to keep her life uncomplicated, she prides herself on keeping herself calmly dispassionate and hates her mothers dramatic lifestyle. Her sister Cassie is much more romantically inclined and is really excited to meet her future step father . However, things are not quite as expected and the drama that ensues leads to unexpected discoveries. I really enjoyed reading this story despite finding some of the 'twists' a bit predictable. Sarah Morgan has the knack of transporting the reader
Review of Summer Wedding by Sarah Morgan
Summer just wouldn’t be summer without a new Sarah Morgan book to read. This one certainly doesn’t disappoint. As always she writes such wonderful characters with great dimensions and development throughout the story. I loved reading this book and throughly enjoyed the story. An absolute must read this summer. Recommend
Sarah Morgan's books are eagerly awaited, and I was delighted to be offered this new one to review. It was as usual very well written, interesting characters, and a very different storyline. The only thing that disappointed me was that I didnt feel swept away by descriptions of Corfu. Normally Sarah's books take you to place with so much colour , allowing you to feel that you are there. But somehow this one didnt give me an authentic flavour of the country. However, I enjoyed reading the story, did guess who the fourth husband was going to be, but that didnt take away the anticipation.
Thank you NetGalley for a review copy of this book which I did enjoy reading..
Sarah Morgan's books give me exactly what I need, a comforting read that I can fly through and escape for a few hours.
Summer Wedding follows the Swift family centred around Catherine Swift, a famous romance novelist, and her daughters Adeline and Cassie. When Catherine announces she is to be married (for the fourth time) she invites both daughters to Corfu to meet her soon to be husband and family drama ensues.
Morgan's books are a comfort read as I can tell exactly what is going to happen but the writing means that I enjoy the journey to get there. A small gripe I have with this is the constant fluctuation between UK and US English, some of the phrases and expressions are that of US English and do not fit a book surrounded 3 English women (the use of Mom, apartment, Z spellings etc.).
If you want to get lost in a gentle romance for a few hours then this is the summer read for you.
I am a massive Sarah Morgan fan so I was very eager to read this latest novel. 'Summer Wedding' is a spectacular summer read set in Corfu which is captivating and engrossing from beginning to end - I couldn't put it down!
New Sarah Morgan book checklist. Descriptions of beautiful places that transport you there, tick. Relatable characters that you can't help but take to your heart and love, tick. Love story, tick. Relationships you are rooting for, tick. Yet Summer Wedding is so much more than a romance novel about a wedding. It is mother and daughter relationships, it is siblings and their differences. It's learning from the past. It's taking a leap of faith and it's embracing life and all that it has to offer. Would highly recommend
Another great story from Sarah Morgan. It took me a few chapters to get into it but then I really became invested in the story. It really made me want to visit Corfu. A lovely summer read. Thank you to the publishers and Netgalley for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book
