They really hit the nail on the head when saying this is a mix between Shrek and John Tucker must die, because OMG it totally is! First up is Bell A.k.a. sleeping beauty after prince charming defeat’s a family of ogres, he kisses her and releases her from her 100 year stasis. The family and town rejoice and get ready for a wedding the next day but when they wake up Prince Charming and his man servant Roland are gone along with most of the families wealth. When we next see prince charming he is helping Marie France (i’m going to be honest and say I don’t know which princess this is I think from the one where she kisses the toad but I am not certain.) she is a dutiful stepdaughter to her beloved stepmother and her father is equally enamored but the stepmother is evil and after prince charming helps get rid of the stepmother he promises to marry Marie France only to once again leap with his manservant and most of their wealth. Next up is Dr. Rapunzel, she was trapped in a tower by an evil woman who adopted her from an orphanage but thanks to prince charming and a little magic that she learned from the evil stepmother helped free the trapped girl. Once again after helping her he was promised half her wealth but yet again when she woke the next day most of it was gone along with the prince. They will eventually all me and learned they were wrong by the same guy as well as many other women across the land but these 30 route to find him one want vengeance, one wants justice and the other still believes in true love but who will be right and why does he only help damsels in distress? This is a great reimagined fairytale or rather a fairytale remix because they have characters from many stories. I found charming by Jade Lynnwood to be one of the better fairytale reimagining I have read it is not only humorous but smartly done and well put together a well executed plot t a great narrative and an all-around five star read! If you love the The fairytale redos with characters he will recognize in those you’ll be happy to see again then you should definitely get this book. I want to thank NetGalley and rebellion books please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.
This was unfortunately very disappointing...
I loved the premise of the book so much! Three of the victims of Prince Charming all band together to get revenge on him. It seems like a very unique idea that I loved as soon as I read the synopsis. However, I had trouble getting into the story. It was confusing and I didn't like the writing style.
I was just very confused. It seems like right now in the story, all of the backstories are being told. I enjoyed the first one (sleeping beauty I think), but I honestly have no idea what is going on in this backstory. I'm pretty sure that all three of these people are friends or something and there is a wedding, but I don't know whose backstory this is and how this relates to Prince Charming. None of the plot from the description from the book has happened yet, and I'm not interested in the set up.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an e-ARC of this novel.
Thank you to NetGalley and Rebellions for the eARC.
This was such a fun novel. I loved the premise from the start and thought it was just overall such an interesting concept. I did love John Tucker Must Die as a kid, so this was right up my alley. Although it did read a bit young for me, there was nothing that stopped me from enjoying the novel.
Loved the premise - Charming by name, but not by nature! And the idea that his princess victims get together to get their revenge on him. Maybe it's because I'm old enough to have enjoyed John Tucker Must Die, but this felt a bit young for me. It's a really good idea though.
Thank you to Rebellion and NetGalley for the ARC of this novel. This was a funny entertaining take on Prince Charming always being the hero of the fairy tale princess stories and how he really could be a manipulative a-hole. The fairy tales themselves were re-told in a well done manner and fit with the narrative along with other stories that came together. If you are paying enough attention, you can pick out some if not most of the twists but does not make it any less entertaining. A good fairy tale re-telling with revenge on the mind. 3.5 stars
This story is the team up of Rapunzel, Sleeping Beauty & Snow White to take on Prince Charring, who in this world saves the Princesses but also steals half their treasury.
Overall I enjoyed the story and I thought that Jade's writing style very much suited the fairy-tale tone, similar to Stephanie Garber. I really enjoyed the changes to the different characters especially Rapunzel.
The only thing I struggled with was that it takes the first third of the book for the princesses to team up, and by the time you get to the last one you know the score and you just want to carry on with the rest of the story.
If you're a fairy-tale fan I'm sure you will enjoy this
An intriguing twist on various fairy tales in which Prince Charming is a dastardly con artist and a trio of princesses (Rapunzel, Snow White and Sleeping Beauty) work together to try and take him down and get revenge.
Not only does this story offer us a twist on Prince Charming but also changes up the origin stories of its princesses, although Sleeping Beauty remains fairly similar with a few additions, Snow White and Rapunzel receive fun new twists, my favourite of which was definitely Snow White. We do also get cameos and glimpses of various other princesses and fairy-tale characters which were very fun to spot.
The writing itself was humorous and easy to read, I flew through sections of this book although I will say the ending felt rushed.
I think the thing that stopped me loving this book as much as I could have is Sleeping Beauty's character.(Bella) I loved pretty much every other character but Bella really got on my nerves at times. Now on some level this is purposeful, Bella is supposed to be the younger, naïve optimist and we are perhaps meant o feel a level of frustration with her but I personally got more irritated by her than I think the author intended and I think this comes down to the fact that her belief that maybe deep down Charming is a good guy makes very little sense given how little time they spend together and I think that could have been rectified.
Overall this was a very fun and enjoyable read with interesting takes on various fairy-tale figures.
I received this arc in exchange for an honest review.
This book was so fun! I read it in one day and didn't want to put it down.
The book is a mixture of fairytale and sting, with a group of princesses on a quest to bring the same prince from all of their stories, Charming, to heal.
None of which would have been possible if they hadn't all met and shared their stories, realising that the Prince, who had robbed them all after saving them, was one and the same.
Charming and Roland jump from kingdom to kingdom, saving damsels, always leaving a day or two later with their bags heavier than they'd been before they ventured there, the kingdoms treasuries emptied.
Emilia, Bella and Marie come to the realisation that they aren't the only victims and with the help of other princesses work together to bring Charming to justice, but is there another reason why Charming is robbing kingdoms?
I asked for this book based on the cover initially, although I loved the sound of the premise too! Prince Charming who is a scoundrel? A plethora of fairytale characters? Fairytale crossovers? This sounded right up my street. Unfortunately I found the story didn’t grip me and it was a bit of a struggle to get through. 2.5 stars. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an arc.
I really struggled with this one. The premise is fun, turning fairy tales on their heads with Prince Charming being the opposite of his name. Maybe he should be called prince of lies, prince swindler? However the manner in which it’s written reads like a YA novel and the critique of fairy tale tropes was just too on the nose for me. Younger readers may enjoy it though!
As a fairy tale lover I really wanted to love Charming but sadly I struggled to connect with the characters and the story. Not a bad book by any means, just not for me. If it sounds interesting to you I recommend giving it a read!
Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book!

What if Prince Charming was actually a scoundrel who scammed unwitting princesses out of their treasure? Well, this book gives us just that story, telling of how the characters of Sleeping Beauty, Snow White and Rapunzel were conned by Prince Charming, and their attempt to find him and make him pay.
The writing was delightfully British and amusing, I was smiling for much of the book. The banter between characters was great. The character stories were all really interesting and I enjoyed the way new twists were weaved in with what we already know.
This book was fun and funny. I great casual read that will have you smiling and also infuriated at Charming!
Charming is is what happens when when jilted women who didn’t get their happily ever after from Prince Charming come together in a Shrek-esque fairytale mashup and work together to enact their revenge.
This book was definitely more of a YA, or even potentially middle grade with the removal of a couple more “bawdy” references, book than I thought it was going to be. The three main characters have all been charmed, swindled, and betrayed by the exact same Prince Charming and meet by chance at a wedding where they compare sob stories and discover their stories share a main character. They then find even more women out in the world with similar tales. Working together they expose and stop the wayward prince and find their own versions of happily ever after.
While I felt the characters were pretty well developed, the plot and writing style were a little all over the place. I also had an advance digital copy and while I expect there to be errors they are still ironing out, this one was more of a mess and had formatting issues that occasionally made it very difficult to read. I’m sure these will be fixed in final digital versions, but that contributed to a chaotic reading experience.
Charming is an interesting mash-up of Shrek, The Princess Bride, and John Tucker Must Die. Considering the wide range of these three tales, I was very curious about how they would all come together in a fairy tale-inspired environment. The story is told through multiple perspectives and follows multiple characters. The Prince Charming in this novel is Prince Jean-Marc Charming Arundel, who is a thief and swindler. The jilted princesses in this tale are Marie Blanche de Neige (Snow White), Doctor Emilia Rapunzel (Rapunzel), and Bella Lucia dei’Sogni (Sleeping Beauty). Another perspective the reader gets is Prince Charming’s companion, Roland. When the three princesses meet at an event, they discover their connection with Prince Charming and decide to seek revenge on him.
Each princess tells their tale to the reader of how they met Prince Charming and how he deceived them. This can get a little repetitive as the same sequence is told three times, even though they are different. The world is well-described, but some of the descriptions of the characters were a bit much. Some word choices, I think, could have been better and given more care. While these moments were not long, they were memorable in an unfortunate way. There are going to be many readers who automatically discount the novel based on these word choices and names, including “Twisty,” so I do think the novel needs another edit to make it easier for readers to connect to the material. As for the pacing, it was one event after another, so I think some moments needed to be expanded so the reader can learn more motivations and explore the emotions of each character. There were some twists and turns along the way with a nice enough ending. Overall, I think a round of editing would help with the wording and pacing as this was a great concept that just did not quite get there for me.
**I give a special thank you to Netgalley and the publisher, Solaris, for the opportunity to read this entertaining novel. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.**
You’ve all heard the stories of Prince Charming. Heroic, brave, and (of course) charming. He rescues maidens from curses, dragons, and wicked stepmothers. Then charms his way into their homes and robs them blind. Three such women have a chance meeting and after realizing their Prince is the one and same man they devise a plan to bring him to justice, and return their stolen treasures. Princess Marie Blanche de Neige, the sorceress Doctor Emilia Rapunzel and the long-slumbering Bella Lucia dei’ Sogni team up to hunt down Charming and end his charade once and for all.
A fairytale version of John Tucker Must Die, this book was so fun. It was nice seeing the princesses fleshed out a bit more than just a damsel in distress. And not just that, but so capable of getting their own justice. As naive as Bella is, even she is a baddy who can hold her own. The author did such a good job of conveying a sardonic tone throughout the book. Tying all the fairytale stories together in such a way was also really well done. I read this book thinking it was a stand-alone but the ending left so many unanswered questions and revelations that I would like to see resolved. If there is another book to come I would definitely read it.

I was provided with an ebook copy of this story free of charge by Netgalley in return for a review.
I love fairytales . Anything about fairytales retold or reworked and i am hooked. You dont have to say another word . Just give me the book and point me to the checkout.
This particular fairytale was just so much fun. Its a twist on the classics. And asks us to think about what would happen if the so called Prince Charming wasnt so wonderful after all?
What if he was a notorious cad and thief?
This book turns the fairy tales on their heads and is absolutely brilliant. It took a bit of getting into but after the frist chapter i was hooked. I had to know what would happen next
Loved this very funny mashup of several fairy stories, with Prince Charming cast as the villain of the piece with three very angry princesses hot on his tail. Reminiscent of the humour of the legend that was Terry Pratchett, I found myself chuckling at the scrapes Charming gets himself into and out of and cheering at the strength of wronged females getting their revenge.
Thanks to NetGalley for this Advanced Ready Copy ebook. Full disclosure, I DnF'd this about 30% of the way through as this book was extremely painful to get through.
The writing style was difficult to get past. Everyone has their own voice and I truly do appreciate that, but this style wasn't for me. I love a good retelling, I do but there was no spin of originality here. Also, the character descriptions were extremely off-putting and seemed a little insulting/derogatory. This should've been a middle-grade, not a YA. It's a missed opportunity for this to be marketed correctly, especially since the premise of the book didn't happen as far as I could tell before I DnF'd it. I was confused if I was reading the right story or not.
I really struggled getting into this book. The story was overall okay, but it didn't really capture my attention very well. It may have come down to my mood, but this book fell a little flat.
