Despite not being a main character in the story, I really loved Nana Irene! She's the clever lady behind everything that happens!

She forces the three cousins, Taryn, Anna Rose and Jorja to work together to look after her flower shop The Lucky Shamrock whilst she takes care of her best friend Ruby following her recent surgery. They have all got fond memories of their grandmother and the flower shop, but less so of each other so it's not without hesitation and trepidation that the three of them agree to help put.

It gets off to a rocky start, as expected, but events in the village soon keep them all busy and they have to work together to stay on top of orders coming in. To their help the have Clinton who's been helping Irene and Ruby with deliveries - and now he is finding himself in a bit of a mediator role.

From the clever Nana Irene and her friendship with Ruby, the village girls competing for Clinton and the many free meals, the dark pasts of the three cousins and the support they provide each other, and the need to work together, to the unexpected ending; this is an amazing story which I highly recommend.

3.5 stars. **Content warning on several matters** So I went into this book expecting a romance, but its really more woman's fiction, with just a little shake of romance thrown in (and most of it off page). This book dealt with some very heavy topics. A lot of time is spent in the three cousin's heads, and most of the book is spent dealing with their issues. The book did have some funny moments, but I wouldn't label this book as funny. While the book kept my interest, I thought the book dragged at points and the romance had minimal development. Overall, an OK story. *I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and this is my voluntary and honest review.

It’s about three cousins: Taryn (the peacemaker), Anna Rose (the good time girl), and Jorja (the overly religious on). They all have different upbringings. They do not get along at all. Their Nana Irene runs The Lucky Shamrock with her best friend Ruby, but Ruby had surgery and needs Nana Irene to help her so she calls the girls to come help at the shop for 6 weeks. They used to help her when they were younger. Nana and Ruby have hired Clinton to help with deliveries and setting up and making arrangement. He lives in the upstairs apartment while the girls are out in the trailer.

What could possibly go wrong? Does the past run their lives? Can they overcome? Do they want love?

Read the book to find out. Comes out July 4, 2023. SAVE to remember to purchase or reserve at the library!!

Thank you to NetGalley forgiving me the e-arc to read! I really enjoy Carolyn Brown books!

The Lucky Shamrock by Carolyn Brown

Another awesome book by Carolyn Brown. I loved the small town feel the book had. And the 3 Cousins all coming together to share their tragic past and move on and find love. Each Cousin with their own story to tell and move on to a HEA. Also throw some romance and love where you least expect it was also a plus for this fun read. The love of their Nana and Grandmother also had hidden agendas added a little spice to the book. A must read.

Thank you for the advance copy to read, I am ready for another.

Three cousins brought together by their grandmother. A story about making right the wrongs, about second chances and what it means to BE family.

Life is an emotional rollercoaster. Nana Irene’s words put into the characters mouth by Carolyn Brown just another fine example of why anything that comes off this grand author pen is to be enjoyed and cherished. Welcome to THE LUCKY SHAMROCK.

Faith is a big part of Carolyn Browns life and works of art. Candidly we do not share the same faith, but we agree on the ideals. When things get rocky, and in life they sure are bound to, then you need something - an intangible something - to hold onto. And in THE LUCKY SHAMROCK this family has their flower business that puts them smack dab in the middle of everything and anything that happens in their community. Life and death come knocking at their store on a regular basis. It is how they manage their responsibilities and relationships that keep them really busy.

With Irene taking care of Ruby, her best friend, both ladies in their golden years have had to look at their lives and start making some plans for the future of the Lucky Shamrock. And that is what THE LUCKY SHAMROCK centers on. Making new choices and forging a new path. The two senior ladies, the three cousins and one amazing veteran are the central characters. Wait till you meet them all.

Jorja, Taryn, and Anna Rose could not be more different, bicker like siblings and yet you know that they would take care of anyone who messed with any one of them. Each one brought up in entirely different households and each shaped by their upbringing. The one common thread was their relationship with their Nana Irene. You could say she was the glue that held this rather odd family together. And it is apparent that Nana Irene knows that her girls need to get their acts together and form a bond. Nothing better than close quarters and shared responsibilities to help with her goal. And in THE LUCKY SHAMROCK the flower shop is front and center in this plan.

Bad things happen to good people. That is one of the sayings that Taryn quotes from her Nana Irene. I believe this gets us all through tough times. It is how we heal and move forward that makes all the difference. THE LUCKY SHAMROCK is about making lemonade out of lemons, and no one could plot this out better than Carolyn Brown. Chalk up another fabulous tale about working though challenges with the help of friends and relatives.

My Thoughts

Can I just say bravo and be done?

No, well than I will say if you have read this author’s work before you have a good idea of what you are going to enjoy from her once again.

If you haven’t then be prepared for a very good education in small town politics as pertains to certain topics and people along with a very good dose of pure old fashioned second chances that lead to new beginnings, among other things good and bad.

Characters are eclectic and also well rounded, setting is interesting, plot points are easy to follow and some are downright genius how they worked out for the cousins especially by books end.

As others have stated one of her best that I have had the pleasure of reading as well.

Loved reading the entertaining and engaging story. When Taryn, Anna Rose, and Jorda come back to look after their Grandmother's florist story, The Lucky Shamrock, for the summer, the girls at first don't get along with each other, try to get over their pasts, and meet the handsome, Clinton, who has women trying to get his attention. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, and a must read riveting story. Can't wait to read another story by the fabulous author, Carolyn Brown!

The Lucky Shamrock is a wonderfully-woven tangle of family ties and choices. The present is shaded by past events. The lure of generational ties is intriguing and well-written. This is a fast-paced story of three women whose luck comes in many forms as they choose to live and work together in the family’s flower shop. That they actually learn to communicate with one another is an added plus that enriches all of their lives.

Thank you NetGalley for the eARC.

I really enjoyed this book. A trio of cousins are thrown together to run a family flower store and must navigate life, love, loss and trauma together. Seeing the bonds of family portrayed was really quite beautiful. Of course there is some sweet romance, but I do like that it’s not the major plot point. I loved the dynamic between the three girls- all entirely different, realistically clashing and bickering, but at the end of the day all supportive and there for each other. I went into it thinking it was a romantic comedy, and although it had its funny moments it definitely covered some serious plot material. A great read…remember to check trigger warnings.

My Carolyn Brown fans are already asking for this title and I'm delighted to tell them it's as wonderful as they think! Seeing the dynamic between the cousins as well as the self-awareness of layers to their individual stories was really great to see in text. Loved this title!

I swear I sound like a broken record when it comes to Carolyn Brown but I swear she can't write a bad book. This was another perfect read to me. As soon as I picked it up I didn't want to put it down. This is an excellent read with humor, sarcasm and surprises readers will love. This is a MUST read in my opinion!!

Thank you NetGalley and Montlake for allowing me to read this ARC in advance for my honest opinion.

The Lucky Shamrock is threaded with faith, family, and a bickering ease only family can provide. It's a faith-based fade-to-black romance that Carolyn Brown brilliantly delivers. A small town where everyone knows everybody, the gossip runs like a mill, and the people know what you've done in the past and won't let you forget it. **Trigger warning to those sensitive to the topic of rape.

This is a story about family, their secrets, a small-town in Texas and a romance. It is also about starting again, helping family out to run a flower shop and called the Lucky Shamrock.

Reading this book is heartwarming , one that most of us with family can relate to and brings home how family can fall apart and come together. The characters are well written and are people you can relate to as friends or even your own family members. It draws you into the problems and the solutions and you can feel the emotions within the pages of this book.

I really enjoyed this book and look forward to seeing what else I can read by this author.

Entraining and amazing characters. I even loved the side characters as well.
The Lucky Shamrock is a beautifully written and engaging romance about family, secrets, small-town Texas romance, and—with a little bit of luck—starting over.

The Lucky Shamrock is about three cousins that are called home by their Nana to help run the family flower shop. Coming home means facing their past and the secrets they keep. Through working and living together the cousins learn to lean on each other to get through trying times. Each one faces their past and overcomes it with the help of family.

This book has love, some bickering, and small town tea being spilled.

This is an amazing book! I always like Ms Brown’s books but this one is extra good. Three cousins bicker among themselves most of the time, and their grandmother has asked them to come and run her flower shop while she takes care of a friend who hurt herself. They all begrudgingly agree to it. Each one has a sad story to tell of something that happened to them previously that hasn’t been fully dealt with emotionally. I always like the way this author describes her characters and their feelings so you feel like you are there with them. This story has some humor as well as lots of moments you might need a tissue. Anyone who likes a good romance story will like this book. I received an arc of this book from NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions expressed are my own.
