This is detailed yet accessible for readers. Scott demonstrates how the past periods/cultures that become important to us, and what gets studied are always in flux.
My problem was that I've already read a fair amount about Egyptomnaia and Bingham so a couple of the sections were retreading old ground, but I still found it a interesting read.
