Why didn’t I read this sooner?
This is a great read and I definitely recommend. Intriguing plot which keeps you guessing,
Thank you.

I loved this book it was such a great read. Things the first from this author and I’ll be reading more in future.

A lottery win that changed their lives forever. The first book that I have rear by Gilly Macmillan but it will not be the last.
Nicole and Tom won £10million on the lottery and decided to leave their past behind and move to a state-of-the-art glass barn conversion in the grounds of a gorgeous manor house. How could their lives get any better!!!! But their dream life soon turns into a nightmare when Nicole returns home to find Tom dead in the swimming pool, with a wound on his head. How did he die? Who is responsible?
The story is told from multiple characters but this does not confuse the plot, in fact it definitely adds to the suspense. Who can be trusted and who is telling the truth. The book is full of twists and turns with several suspects and some clues to help you figure things out along the way. There are characters you will love and several that you will love to hate but can you work out the inner workings of the manor house and it's occupants?!?!?
Thank you to NetGalley and Random House UK for a digital copy of this book.

I loved this book! Loved all the characters the good and bad! So intriguing, compelling every time you thought you knew where it was going there would b a twist.
Loved the intense relationships between the characters, you really got a feel of who they were.
Great ending!

Gilly Macmillan's *The Fall* is a gripping crime thriller that masterfully intertwines mystery and suspense. The story follows Nicole and Tom Booth, a couple whose lives are transformed by a ten-million-pound lottery win. Their newfound wealth allows them to move into a luxurious Glass Barn on the picturesque Lancaut Manor estate. However, their dream life quickly spirals into a nightmare when Tom is found dead in their swimming pool under suspicious circumstances.
Macmillan excels at creating a tense atmosphere, with the isolated setting amplifying the sense of danger and mistrust. The narrative is filled with unexpected twists that keep readers guessing about the true nature of Tom's death. The characters are complex, each harboring secrets that add layers to the unfolding drama. Nicole emerges as a particularly sympathetic figure, navigating her grief while questioning the intentions of those around her.
Overall, *The Fall* is a compelling read that keeps you on edge until its final pages, making it difficult to put down.

I received an ARC of this book in return for an honest review.
The Fall by Gilly Macmillan was a disappointment for me on several levels. While the premise seemed promising, the book quickly faltered in both character and plot development. The prose felt clunky, and the characters, rather than coming across as layered or complex, were difficult to connect with and seemed to lack purpose. Their endless internal dialogues felt tedious and aimless, and the story felt like it was building up to something significant without ever delivering. I often found myself skimming through sections, hoping for more substance or some compelling direction.
The last few chapters, unfortunately, took an unexpected turn into what felt like fantasy territory, which didn't suit the tone of the story and further detracted from its believability. Although the ending was fast-paced and technically wrapped up all the character arcs, it felt rushed and anticlimactic, undermining any investment in the story. Overall, this book didn’t live up to its potential and left me wanting much more.

This has been sitting on my shelf for a while and I’m now wishing that I had read it sooner. This is a great read and one that I’d definitely recommend. I was quickly drawn into the plot and was kept intrigued throughout.

an engaging and thrilling read - I would 100% recommend to a friend! Twisty, interesting and a great storyline.

The Fall by Gilly Macmillan is a captivating psychological thriller that delves into the complexities of wealth, envy, and hidden secrets. The story revolves around Nicole and Tom, whose lives are transformed by a ten-million-pound lottery win. Their dream quickly becomes a nightmare when Tom is found dead in their luxurious Glass Barn conversion.
Macmillan skillfully weaves suspense through multiple perspectives, including those of their enigmatic neighbors Sasha and Olly, and the housekeeper Kitty. The alternating narratives, combined with journal entries from a mysterious character named Anna, add depth and layers to the mystery, keeping readers guessing about the true nature of the characters and their motives.
The novel excels in creating a tense atmosphere, with the isolated setting of the Glass Barn and the nearby Manor adding to the sense of unease. Macmillan’s characters are complex and well-developed, each harboring secrets that could be motives for murder. The plot is filled with twists and turns, ensuring that readers are engaged until the very last page.
While some readers might find the pacing a bit slow, the intricate character development and the gradual unfolding of the plot make it a rewarding read for fans of psychological thrillers. The ending is both satisfying and surprising, tying up loose ends in a manner that reflects the novel’s themes of deception and trust.
Overall, The Fall is a compelling and atmospheric read that will appeal to those who enjoy a well-crafted mystery with rich character dynamics.

A good read
Plenty of twists and turns
Will keep you turning them pages to see what happens next
Thanks NetGalley

I was absolutely hooked by this twisty thriller from the very first page! The story was fast-paced and engaging with enough suspense to keep the reader going (I lost a lot of sleep by staying up too late to read just another page...!)

Really liked this, will definitely check out more from this author. It was twisty and fast paced - looking forward to reading more!

Loved this book! It slipped at the bottom of my reading pile and I wish it hadn't. Had to finish it in one sitting but no regrets! Just a sleepy head. Totally worth it

When Nicole and Tom win the lottery, they build an amazing house in the country. With only one set of neighbours close, they quickly become friends with Sasha, Olly and their housekeeper. But when Tom is found dead, floating in the pool, Nicole starts to question their friendship. Could one of them kill, and if so, why?
I did enjoy The Fall, with the action keeping me guessing as to the culprit. There are quite a few red herrings and twists and turns along the way. I particularly enjoyed the gradual revealing of Tom’s day leading up to the fateful moment, and how it changed the narrative.
The only part that didn’t sit well with me was the final chapters, after the truth has been revealed. I just didn’t feel that the behaviour of any of the characters was believable or likely.
Overall though, I really enjoyed the story.

So many twists and turns in this one and I was utterly gripped despite the relatively slow pace of the plot. A huge amount of tension too.

This was my first time reading a book from the author but I am delighted to say I thoroughly enjoyed the story and I look forward to reading more books from the writer in the future

Unfortunately I couldn't get into this. I did try to persevere and tried it 3 times but I just wasn't able to enjoy it
