Tom;s' friend Patrick turns up even though they have not been close due to Patrick's financial demands. He seems to have turned a corner and is doing alright turning up in a fancy car.

It turns out that Kittie is not who she appears to be and after the death if her husband in mysterious circumstances had taken on the role of housekeeper to Sasha and Ollie ,an aspiring writer, who treat her like dirt.
After Nicole has a baby and Kittie{now back to her correct name and position establish a relationship with Sasha as Nanny and housekeeper ,but it is building up to payback time and it doesn't disappoint.

I've not reviewed this book online as it is not one for me - and a critical review is not what you need!

I didn't find enough cohesion in the first 3/4 of the book as it oscillated between "now" and "5 years ago". Maybe tighter editing needed? The characters were rather "thin" but I did want to find out what happened - but as the book went on, I cared less and less - or believed less and less. The plot was excellent and initially believable, but the last part rather stretched imagination too far. I enjoy this type of book and was disappointed - it had potential which was a little unrealised. The coercive behaviour of Olly is real - a great friend of mine experienced it and it took years to get her out - so well done Gilly pn that score.

On Amazon, for me, a one star. I would keep Gilly on my reading list as another book could be OK

A clever story with a very apt conclusion! Nicole and Tom have won ten million on the lottery and so purchase land on the estate of The Manor run by Sasha and Olly and their housekeeper Kitty. They build their dream house but then Tom is found floating in the swimming pool, DCI Hal and his assistant Jen are on the case! Tom had a friend Patrick who was very jealous of their win but Kitty is also not the person we think she is! There was also a rather suspicious looking character hanging around the estate on the day Tom was found. Sasha, a yoga teacher and Olly, a writer appear to be in control but intrigue abounds and Hal and Jen have their work cut out!

The Fall will have you hooked- the main characters are a likeable ordinary couple who have won the lottery. One of my favourite descriptions of how happy they were, was Nicole driving in her new car with her rose coloured Chanel.sunglasses on thinking how wonderful life was- you could just picture it and feel the positive vibes. However as soon as the neighbours get involved, things turn a little bit weird and uncomfortable. Gradually the book turns more and more sinister as we find out who the neighbours sasha and Olly really are, it's well written, pacey with fantastic characters.

This is an intriguing story. There is a lot of manipulative behaviour around and more than one murder. A number of the characters are not who they seem to be which adds to the intrigue. The title comes from the opening event. Tom, husband of Nicole, and lottery winner is found drowned in their fancy new pool which is part of a fancy new building possible from the lottery money. The fancy house sits on the same grounds as the original Manor House. There Ollie and Sasha live with a housekeeper who is not who she seems to be. This couple have a serious wish to acquire things that are not theirs. The job of the police, Hal and Jen, is to determine if Tom’s death was an accident. A lot is unravelled which intrigues the reader. The conclusion is full of surprises. I recommend it.

Absolutely amazed by this book. For some reason my expectations were low. Boy was I wrong.

I loved everything about the book. I had thought the plot would be superficial and pedestrian. It was anything but!!

The plot was actually superb. The characters were all intriguing in many different ways. Full credit to the author for the work put into this book!

Now the ending - how good was that! I had such a big smile on my face. I still do uwhen I think about what happened.

I really enjoyed this! The plot is gripping and full of twists- made even more interesting by the jumps between viewpoints and time periods. Personally, the ending fell a bit flat for me, but I would still recommend The Fall to anyone looking for an enthralling murder mystery.

It was the first time I had read this author's book, but it will not be the last. Excellent piece of writing.

So you want to win the lottery, do you? How to win money and lose friends. A good storyline with numerous red herrings thrown in. Told from different perspectives of the prominent people within the story, who is for real, and who is not?

The book flows from beginning to end and I would have picked it up on the shelf for reading. Very well written and a book, I can see getting packed in the luggage for that holiday reading.

Thank you to the publishers and Net Gallery for allowing me to pre-read this novel.

I love every book by Gilly and this one did not disappoint. She brings character development, edge of your seat suspense, red herrings and a can’t put it down thriller to you each time you open a book by her. Told from multiple POV and timelines we enter into a couple who has won the lottery but now one of them is dead. How did it get to this point? Buckle up for the wild ride to the stunning conclusion.

I really enjoyed this book, I loved the constantly changing narration from different characters’ perspectives and time jumps which allow the reader to greater understand the motivations and feelings of each of the characters over time. The themes of wealth and power were cleverly interwoven throughout and definitely opened my eyes to some of the challenges lottery winners are faced with. There are some clever twists in the book which I didn’t see coming. An interesting, entertaining read. Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for letting me pre read this.

The Fall tells the story of Nicole and Tom, a couple of lottery winners, who are living in their dream home - The Glass Barn. Nicole discovers Tom's body in their pool and we find ourselves in a fast paced murder investigation. There aren't too many suspects as the area is sparse, but the neighbours in the Manor House are not quite what they seem.

This story is told from multiple points of view and timelines. We have the present day story, then Tom's story from the morning of his death and finally a journal entry from the past. I saw that lots of people found this to be confusing, but I actually really enjoyed the different timelines and points of view. I especially loved how they all came together in the end.

There were lots of twists and turns, some more predictable than others, but I did enjoy it.

My thanks to NetGalley and the Publishers for sending me this ARC in return for an honest review.

This was a brilliant read with so many twists and turns - I saw some of them coming but not all of them. It kept me reading and I really wanted to know how the storylines all lined up, which was slowly revealed throughout.

This book had me rivetted from the off. With more twists and turns than the proverbial rollercoaster I literally couldn't put it down. The main characters are very strong, the book is well written and I loved the fact that, with so many red herrings you were kept guessing about 'whodunnit' until the very end. Highly recommended.

Thanks to Gilly and NetGalley for allowing me to read The Fall before the publication date.
It is a difficult book to review without giving any spoilers.
The Manor House is run by Sasha Dempsey as a yoga studio. Her partner, Olly Palmer, has been a “writer in residence” for 5 years whilst writing his first novel as he demands that everyone tiptoes around his needs.
The house, which is cared for by the housekeeper, Kitty, is full of secret passages and priest holes which provides a very creepy, disturbing atmosphere. Sasha and Olly maintain a superior attitude with a distinct air of entitlement and Olly shows disdain towards the Booths when he learns that they are nouveau rich.

Tom had insisted on the latest high tech gadgets being installed in the Glass Barn, where everything is supposed to be voice controlled. The system seems to have a mind of its own, leaving the residents at a loss when it frequently fails to respond, which is very unsettling and adds to Nicole’s feelings of isolation.

There are several storylines woven into the book and plenty of twists and turns before the truth, or at least as much of the truth as Gilly will reveal, is uncovered.

If you're a fan of edge-of-your-seat suspense and intricate plots, The Fall may be just what you're looking for. Gilly McMillan explores the darkest aspects of the human psyche, and with complex characters and twists and turns at every corner, this thriller is. A must-read for anyone who loves a good mystery!

Be careful what you wish for, and be careful of other people, that’s the premise for this tense read from Gilly. Nicole and Tom’s lives change overnight when they win a cool £10 million on the lottery. Which sounds great – and is great, in the sense of having a dream home and making the most of the good life. But when Tom is found dead in the swimming pool, with a head wound, Nicole’s world falls apart. There’s not many people from whom to find comfort, given that her only neighbours are a couple and their housekeeper. But this is a Gilly book and things are far from straightforward. There are plenty of twists and turns in this truly layered novel, which reminds me of author Janice Hallett. Cleverly put together, it’ll have you thinking long after you’ve finished reading.

This is really good as are all her books, Nicole and Tom are living their dream and are able to buy anything they want after winning the lottery the house they live in is a dream with a beautiful swimming pool which unfortunately takes the life of her beloved husband Tom who she has loved for most of her life it’s heartbreaking and my heart goes out to her. The neighbours Sasha and Olly and their housekeeper Kitty help her get over her grief. When the Police investigate they find out he was murdered now everyone is under suspicion as the story enfolds there were so many twists it made me dizzy definitely recommend. I also liked Hal and Jen so hope there will be another book with these characters.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC

Tom & Nicole are adjusting to life as lotto winners in their state of the art luxury home. But after a morning out, Nicole comes home to find Tom dead in their pool. Was it an accident? Or was it murder?

The only neighbors are a young glam couple and their house keeper. But everything isn't as it seems.

This was a thriller and a half. What starts off as a typical murder mystery turns into something huge and dark and all encompassing. I legitimately didn't know how this was going to end (which says something cause I'm the Queen for figuring out the twists!)

Highly recommend this well thought out psychological thriller!
