Thank you Netgalley for the ARC.

Tom and Nicole win ten million pounds on the lottery and build the house of their dreams in the idyllic countryside of Launcet Manor. The dream is soon shattered when Tom is found dead in their swimming pool. Was it just a terrible accident or was it something more sinister?

With only neighbours for miles being the couple who own the manor and their house keeper , witnesses are few and far between. Just who is hiding what and who should Nicole trust?

I loved this. From the twists and turns to the double crossing to the moments when the police are so close yet so far. A real page turner with lots of events to keep you glued to the story.

This book did not grab me. The plot was full of far too many things happening to be credible.
The characters were not at all nice and unbelievable.. The only one with seemingly nothing to hide (apart from a present) was the character who was murdered.
It seems that there is a bit of an epidemic of nasty characters living in woods spying on people in large houses. I would recommend a thick pair of curtains and a big strong lock on doors.
Not really a very believable plot

3.5 stars rounded up to 4 for NetGalley.

This had some clever elements to the story but I also found things which frustrated me (maybe I was just a bit spoilt from The Long Weekend).

There were some good plot reveals and I thought the psychological element was done well. The constant back and forth wondering who actually really trusted who was entertaining. Plus, I definitely enjoyed a certain revenge...

I felt something was a shame in the story after the build up and that actually took a bit of my excitement away; I also felt there was a bit of a predictable twist near the end.

Overall, a clever premise executed well by the characters in question. But I think I prefer the US title of The Manor House compared to ours. Not my favourite of Gilly's books, but I look forward to her next one.

Nicole & Tom can't believe it when they win the lottery. They soon move into their new house, a house built to their specifications, and with all the 'bells and whistles' of modern life that Tom longed for.
They are very much in love with one another, and are living a wonderful life of luxury, until one day, Tom is found dead in the swimming pool.
Nicole is bereft, and turns to her only neighbours for help.
Who could have done such a thing? Tom has no enemies, and the only people around for miles are the neighbours, Sasha & Ollie and their housekeeper Kitty. Could one of them be the killer, or is there something else going on?
What a great book! I loved it and couldn't guess who the murderer was until the end.
Great characters, and the story was told from different perspectives which gave a great insight into what actually happened on the day of the murder.
A1

This book suffers from lack of a good editor syndrome. Why was it so incredibly long and repetitive? I made it until the end, but boy that was a struggle. I almost wondered if this was the rough/rough draft, like the one you review yourself and then turn in to the teacher. Perhaps with a few more rounds of edits and some significant cuts to the length, it will be readable, but I will not be recommending this book for purchase at this time.

This mind-bending psychological thriller delves into the darkest corners of the human mind, leaving you haunted by its suspenseful tale long after the last page.

I REALLY enjoyed this book. I typically love a claustrophobic murder mystery written through a couple of perspectives but you get that and so much more. Some red herrings that I still havent fully worked out but the plot is just wonderful. Would recommend to any fans of thriller/mysteries.

An interesting read. It took a while to get used to the format of each character telling their reading of what was happening. A lot of twists and turns. Nichole and Tom have their perfect life in their smart house after their lottery win, but is all as it seems.

Oh my word! What a suspense filled thriller! I just loved the writing, the unlikely neighbours and the unravelling of the story - a few surprising twists and turns along the way and a great ending - loved it!

I really enjoyed this book, I loved how it’s told by all the different characters perspective and every time a new person start telling their story you learn something new about them and about what happened now and in the past.
I can’t say too much about the ending, but it’s definitely a 5 star from me.
Thank you to NetGalley and Random House UK for letting me review this ARC.

I really did like this one! I’ve been off thrillers for a little while as everything I read seems predictable!
I loved how fast paced and gripping this was! I’ve never read anything from this author before but I’ll definitely look out for more now!
Thank you NetGalley! And thank you Gilly MacMillan for this great read!

Gilly MacMillan has set out an interesting approach to thriller writing; it’s not an entirely new technique, as other authors have used the device of telling the story through the differing perspectives of the key characters, but it is especially effective in this novel. The plot moves briskly, with red herrings scattered here and there, and new twists crop up with surprising regularity. Perhaps the denouement was a little rushed, but overall the author wrapped up a reasonably imaginative thriller with some style. A good read.

An interesting story of two couples. Nicole and Tom have recently won £10 million on the lottery and have created a lavish barn conversion on the Lancaut Peninsula the other couple Sasha and Olly live in the Manor House next door with Kitty their housekeeper. Both couples seem to be living the dream, until one day Nicole returns home to find Tom dead in the swimming pool and so unfolds a series of twists and turns as we find out just who these characters are and how they come to be where they are today.
A good read that kept me interested to the end.

The Fall by Gilly Macmillan is a tense thriller about a young couple who win the lottery and are living their best lives, having had a glass barn conversion built in the grounds of Lancaut Manor in Gloucestershire. Then Tom, the husband is found dead in the pool, is it murder? Who could have done it, there are only Tom, his wife and the couple and the housekeeper who live in the manor who could possibly done it. Or was there someone else there at the time of Tom’s death.
A complex murder mystery with entangled stories of lies, secrets and death to be found out about.
Highly recommended.

Nicole and Tom are living everyone’s dreams. Their lottery win is offered them the lifestyle we could only dream of. But is this always a road to happiness. Sasha and Olly their neighbours have found their way to the top another way. But all have something in common.
A story of childhood sweethearts that only have eyes for each other until disaster strikes. Nicole has a love of sheep, Tom is lonely despite all the money, Sasha is devious, Olly is pure evil and who really is Kitty their housekeeper.
A gripping read showing it’s not always good when your wishes do come true.

Nicola and Tom, childhood sweethearts lives change enormously when they win 10 million on the lottery.

Nicola returns home from a County Show to their fabulous state of the art custom built conversion, on the Lancaut Peninsula to find her husband dead in their swimming pool.

Nicola runs to her neighbours for help. Olly, Sasha and their housekeeper Kitty who immediately offer their support. But can they be trusted as they have their own secrets?

WOW I really did not know where this story was going!! The twists kept me fully engrossed in this book, the amount of suspects were rising and I kept changing my mind on who the culprit was!!

A must read book that will keep you guessing until the end.

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy in exchange for an honest review.

I was fortunate to receive a copy of this ARC from NetGalley and Penguin.

This book starts with the premise of many dinner party conversations - what would you do if you won the Lottery? Tom was much more keen to make the most of their new wealth, hence a move to Lancaut Manor. However this backfires on Tom when he dies in the swimming pool. Their neighbours and housekeeper all seem to have secrets but are any of them connected to Tom's death? The Manor is set up to be all digitalised, you can't open a door or move the curtains without going through the central system and this definitely adds to the tension when Nicole is left there alone.

A compelling, thought provoking read!

Nicole and Tom win the lottery and have a super house built in the woods. It seems as if all their dreams have come true until Tom is found dead in their swimming pool. I got really involved with the characters and their actions and thought I knew where the storyline was going - but not this time.
