A heartfelt love story, pre-war glamour, WW2 and a love that will never fade......
A beautiful story of two young people who fall in love and are then separated by war. With themes of spirituality running throughout, this story makes the reader think about some of the big questions surrounding life and death.
Well written characters make you care deeply about what happens in their lives and eager to read on.

What made this novel particularly fascinating for me was that it is based on the true experiences of a friend of the author. I had already seen a lot of the publicity surrounding this book and so was intrigued to learn more. The story revolves around Max who has a recurring dream that he is in a war zone. Is this just a dream or could it be more than that? We are also introduced to Florence whose romance decades earlier with one of the Dash brothers is threatened by impending war. I loved the portrayal of the halcyon pre-war days spent in Cornwall and the intertwining of the two stories. I am a big fan of Santa Montefiore books and have read and enjoyed most of them. However, whether it was due to the limitations of the true story, but I did find some of the writing rather cliched, predictable and also some parts were rather repetitive. I thought the detailed description by Cynthia to Max of Florence and her relationship with the Dash family was unnecessarily long when we already knew what had happened. .i sadly would say this was not one of my favourite novels of hers, but nevertheless very interesting in regards to the themes of life after death and possible reincarnation.

I adore Montefiore's books and her writing style is sweeping and captivating - this book was no different. From the premise you can guess what the book might entail and whilst I enjoyed the book and spending time with the characters I could not get on board with all aspects. I viewed this purely as fiction and found it to be an enjoyable read.
Montefiore writes this between two time periods, as the book progressed I found myself equally drawn to the different times. They both had a good story to tell and more importantly they both featured likeable characters whom I liked getting to know.
'Wait For Me' is a beautiful, sweeping read from Montefiore. I just lost a sense of reality.
Thank you to NetGalley and Simon and Schuster UK for an advance copy.

This was a breathtaking based on a true story but told through the fictional characters of Florence from 1937 and Max from 1988. Both a love story and a study of more esoteric beliefs (which I am open minded to, if you’re aren’t you might not engage as well with some elements of this) Overall this is a beautiful read of love and heartbreak in the war time years and of personal exploration in more recent times. As a piece of fiction this is wonderful but when you consider the real life’s story that inspired it I found it very thought provoking but also incredibly hopeful.

Wait For Me by Santa Montefiore

Love time slip books and this one has to be up there with the best , even better by one of my favourite authors.
We are transported to 1944 as Florence is informed her husband is missing presumed dead. She finds a book with a poem in and believes he will one return to her.
In 1988 Max has spent his life having a recurring dream of being in a battlefield , in his dream the name of Rupert Dash is in it.
And in 1995 Florence has received a message from a man who feels he has lived another life of someone important to her.
Great storyline and fantastic characters. Loved it.

When Rupert Dash is declared missing, presumed dead during the Battle of Arnhem, his wife, Florence, is devastated. She can’t accept that he has gone from her life forever, and so when she finds a poem called ‘Wait for Me’ hidden in an old book, she believes it’s a sign from her husband. A promise that he will return to her.

Since childhood Max has suffered from a recurring nightmare. Surrounded by the horrific chaos of war, he has an urgent mission he knows he must complete. But time after time, the dream ends with him awaking in terror, his heart pounding from the horror of the battlefield. Desperate to understand why he is haunted by such terrible visions, Max embarks on a journey that leads him to Cornwall and a man named Rupert Dash.

Melbourne, 1995
Florence receives a letter from someone she has never met, who lives on the other side of the world. This stranger says he remembers a life that belonged to another before him. Could this be the one person Florence has waited fifty-one years to meet again?

I was so intrigued by the premise of this book and it honestly was so much better than I expected it to be it is an incredible read.
There wasn't anything I disliked about this book. the writing style and format was good and engaged me the whole way along, the storyline was absolutely riveting and thought provoking. I couldn't put it down and I can't stop thinking about it. I will never stop recommending this book.
