This was a very good book. I enjoyed reading it. The characters and plot kept me interested. I would read another book by this author.

The story of the two women becoming friends and making big changes in their lives and accepting things as they are was interesting.. the not so subtle messages of god kind of turned me off and closer to,the end I started skimming a lot of the conversations…a little too much discussion and I didn’t appreciate how other people always knew what was best. Otherwise it was nice story.

This book is something special. I finished it last night and am still reflecting on the beautiful story and characters. Jane is almost 30 and has been dating Brad for 8 years. She has a job she loves working in an art gallery but she’s not happy. 16 years her senior Grace is married to her true love but they have not been blessed with children. While Grace’s marriage is strong the missing child has a heavy toll. When Jane and Grace meet at a vendor art show I was not sure how their stories would connect. The book is told from the POV of both women in alternating chapters.

Both women are drawn to Grace’s husband’s art piece, The Space Between Dreaming. The piece is the cover of the book and it is absolutely gorgeous!!! When I saw the cover I wanted the book if only to display in my house because it is so gorgeous. The story between the covers is one of finding yourself for both Jane and Grace. I fell in love with this book and did not want it to end. I cried and laughed while reading. I can’t say enough good things about this book. If you want a story about strength, overcoming loss, inspiration, and beautiful artwork, you will love this book. A lot of the book discusses infertility so it may not be the book for you if that is a trigger.

I didn't really fin much to keep me interested in this book, though I did finish it. The theme didn't bother me, but I wish the description had mentioned the fairly strong faith references as I don't particularly care to read books with it featured throughout the book. The relationships formed and plot in general seemed unrealisitic in the speed in which they happen, Overall, it just had a style I didn't get into.
I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my opinions.

I’ll start by saying the pregnancy theme is not my favorite, however, the presentation in this book was different and did not leave me feeling overly frustrated. The story is of two women in different stages in their life, both encountering their own life difficulties and coming to terms with their futures, and the choices they need to make to be happy in the life given the cards they were dealt. There is also a strong faith theme, which again is not my personal cup of tea, but it was open and not in your face.

The Space Between Dreaming
a novel
by Cherie Burbach
Description
Grace and Jane both crave family but for many different reasons. Grace longs for the child she was never able to conceive and Jane for the new family she will have once she marries her boyfriend. They meet and become unlikely friends when Grace’s husband paints his masterpiece and Jane’s gallery represents him.

As they ponder their future, Jane’s meddling 80-year-old landlady helps them see the beauty in letting go of expectations. Grace and Jane each see something different in the painting, and it causes them to look beyond their stubborn dreams to a fresh reality that could hold the key to their happiness.

This was a good book. As the description says. The late 40s and 30s both going through childlessness, life, anger, and pain.

I just finished the space between dreaming, and I have to say I have a happy contented feeling. I truly enjoyed this book, despite the fact that there is a strong underlying “pregnancy” story-line (just a personal dislike). The book is about an older women (late forties) that has to come to terms with not being able to have a biological child, and a thirty year old that has to examine her current relationship with her boyfriend and work to determine her true priorities. There is also a strong “faith” theme which wasn’t my favorite as a non-religious person, but also not unwelcome. Between the two story lines there is romance but very modest. All of the characters are well-developed, and I felt invested in the story lines. Overall, I would recommend this book to someone looking for a romance job to leave them feeling happy and contented.
