Although Chandler wants to write her own books, she ghost writes for a living and she should be over the moon when she finds out she’ll be writing a memoir for an actor in a popular werewolf tv-series. But of course as it turns out, the actor, Finnegan, is her worst ever one night stand. Chandler tries to keep things professional as she joins him on his Comic Con tour around the country, but maybe they could both help each other out?

I loved this book! Although it was a contemporary romance it felt like a breath of fresh air incorporating comic cons and small bits of the werewolf tv series (it was totally giving me Teen Wolf vibes) and now I really wish I could watch the tv-series too😂 The dialogue felt natural and their meet-cute was great too and overall I really enjoyed it. This book also gets some bonus points for what I thought was good OCD representation! It’ll be out in early July and I definitely recommend picking it up then!

Okay. So I have been reading a LOT of romance books in recent times, but this one was by far one of the most enjoyable! I adored both leads, their chemistry felt believable, the convention settings deeply satisfied my little nerd heart, and the STEAMY SCENES... my god the steamy scenes were were fantastically written. I adored Chandler as a lead character, her attitude towards sex was so open and healthy which is something I would really love to see more of in romance books! Also - the OCD rep! SOOO well done and another thing I would love to see more of in fiction in general, but I particularly loved how supportive Chandler was of Finn through it. I loved seeing these two figure things out together, and I'm already looking forward to rereading this one when it comes out in July.

I just ADORED this novel. Chandler was a really likeable and down-to-earth protagonist, making her so relatable and genuine. I really liked the different spin on ‘work romance’ vibes and this book’s premise is one I had never heard of before.

I was really really looking forward to this book, and while it didn't disappoint, per se, I think that perhaps Rachel Lynn Solomon's writing just isn't for me.
I loved every detail of the story, Chandler and her career doubts, Finn and, well, EVERYTHING about him. But something about the writing just couldn't get me invested.
If it had, this might've been my absolutely perfect book.

Firstly, huge thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this book.

I have enjoyed all of Solomon’s adult romance books, and BUSINESS OR PLEASURE is no exception. It was a fun premise, executed with Solomon’s signature charm, banter and nuanced characters, and I certainly went through a spectrum of emotions as I read it.

My only slight disappointment with the book was because as much as I liked Chandler and Finn, and though I found parts of their stories relatable, I was just not as invested in them as I have been with Solomon’s other couples.

Still, BUSINESS OR PLEASURE is a fun read and I’m confident many readers will like it too!

Loved this one! I’ve enjoyed Rachel Lynn Solomon’s books in the past, so was really excited when I had the chance to read this one early. It’s probably my favourite out of her books and is definitely the spiciest.

Chandler Cohen is a ghost writer for celebrity memoirs and is feeling lost in her career when she has a one night stand at a bar. It was very Not Good and she wrote it off, vowing to forget about it. Cut to the next day, when she takes a business meeting for her next potential ghostwriting client, and it’s the guy from the night before, C-List celebrity, Finn Walsh. The offer is too good to pass up, so she takes the role, the two of them vowing to be professional about the situation. Obviously, it’s a romance novel, so that doesn’t happen, and it was a great time.

I loved Finn’s character and thought the communication between the two main characters was really healthy. Lots of openness about sexual pleasure and emotions. The writing was sharp and I enjoyed the dialogue between the characters. I’m a sucker for a normal person/celeb romance, so loved that this trope was included, too. The only reason I docked a star is because the last 1/3 of the book felt a little dragged out, but still highly rec this book, despite that pacing feedback.

Business or Pleasure is out July 6th - Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Random House for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you netgalley for the ARC (which blew my mind when I saw the email!)
One of my most anticipated reads of this year and IT DELIVERED. I don't know why or how but I really like her writing and even when things piss me off I still enjoy it? This one had I think literally one single moment where I was like OH COME ON but I get it, I understand and I moved on from it quickly. The most important and also the best things about this books are: communication and a healthy relationship, dare I say the healthiest I've seen in a while (!), mental health representation, topics of their religion, her abortion, the sex talk and sex scenes and how this book will do more for you sex ed than any class at school ever did and naturally FINNEGAN WALSH. MY MAN. The loveliest, most wonderful, understanding, supportive man! Perfect. Amazing. All the adjectives! I also loved how real the actors in it felt, like Rachel knows a C or a B list actor/actress and has inside scoop because it was just that realistic. The main character is Pisces and has constantly cold feet so she wears socks all the time so I just have to end the review saying: she is just like me FR!

4.5

This is my first book from Rachel Lynn Solomon and I'm hugely impressed.

Ghostwriter Chandler has an awkward one-night stand with a guy she meets at the bar, and by awkward I mean our girl was left HUGELY unsatisfied. Unfortunately, Chandler's next project involves being the ghostwriter for actor Finn Walsh aka Mr. Leaves A Girl Wanting Less. Whilst working on their project together, Chandler accidentally ends up telling Finn that he's not great in bed which leads to some interesting intimacy lessons.

This book was funny, engaging and managed to handle these intimacy lessons in a really informative way, without making the book feel like a lecture. I loved both Chandler and Finn and it was great to see the woman take the lead for once. The friendship between Chandler and Finn was handled really well and this book didn't feel silly despite the circumstances.

I enjoyed the writing style and would easily pick up another book by Rachel Lynn Solomon.

I received an advanced copy for free through NetGalley, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

So far for me, Rachel Lynn Solomon’s work has been hit or miss. I REALLY enjoyed Ex Talk but hated We Can’t Keep Meeting Like This.

Business or Pleasure DEFINITELY exceeded my expectations.

The premise was super fun and I actually believed the story. It didn’t seem extremely outlandish at all.

I mostly enjoyed the conversations around sex and relationships which were open and honest. It did the job.

But I LOVE LOVE LOVED the OCD rep. And for that, I will forever be grateful.

This was fabulous. I finished it this morning and am writing this 12 hours later. I can’t tell you how many times today I’ve thought of Chandler & Finn and what might happen next for them. If that’s not a sign of a good book, thinking of the characters after you’ve finished, then I don’t know what is!
Finn was incredibly likeable, Chandler even more so. The sex was hot and felt very authentic, not romance novely at all and I loved the premise of the story and how they met, not to mention how honest she was with him, The book had me wincing, laughing out loud and smiling with fondness. Definitely recommend.

this was such a joy to read!!! the premise was what grabbed me in the first place and the author really delivered.

i really loved the con circuit aspect as well as the discussion of mental health. i also thought the fmc being a ghost writer was a really refreshing idea that i havent read before.

i REALLY appreciated that finn was a very nontoxic mmc who openly discussed his mental health struggles.

i also loved that the conflict didnt hinge on miscommunication.

my main gripe was that the tutoring aspect seemed very quickly useless because finn just seemed to flip a switch and suddenly become fantastic in bed.

A gentle, soft and sexy romance. Some great scenes, tender moments and raw honesty from Chandler and Finn - also lots of sexy time which worked really well alongside the building relationship. Some great friends and family to support and a glimpse into what life is like for teen TV stars. A great read.

Sex is passionate and hot and satisfying. Right? At least in books. But in real life? Even though you’re attracted to another person, sex can be awkward. Sex can be frustrating. Sex can be mediocre. And that’s what this book is about.

I’ve said it before, I like my stories a little less steamy, and when the sex scenes go on for pages and pages and more pages, I tend to skim-read them. Business or Pleasure is steamy but not in the usual way. Because in this story, sex is communicating. Sex is talking. Sex is speaking up. And I loved this approach!

Chandler’s and Finn’s first hook-up turns out to be a disaster, at least for Chandler, and when they meet again, Chandler tells Finn the sex wasn’t as good as he thought it was. So she suggests they practice, and she even makes a plan. They kiss and they talk, they explore each other’s bodies and tell each other what they like, and they have sex and still communicate. I think this could be a fictional self-help book for everyone who needs to learn something about a healthy sex life 😂!

Of course, this book is not only about sex. It’s a story about two people who deeply connect from the moment they meet. It’s funny and nerdy, and smiles danced on my face so many times. And Finn, I fully understand why Chandler fell for him. His shyness, his nerdiness, his want to learn to be better at sex, in conclusion, not being perfect at all, made him the perfect guy for Chandler.

There’s mental health rep too, Chandler has generalized anxiety disorder and Finn OCD (mostly germ-related).

I loved Business or Pleasure and highly recommended it to anyone who wants to read a fantastic love story or just learn more about a healthy sex life.

This is a charming rom-com romance with likeable characters - I am loving Finn's nerdy, shy, unconfident manner; which is something of a change in romance novels I have read lately. There are parts which could move along at a faster pace, but on the whole this is a worthy read. Many thanks to NetGallery and Penguin Random House for allowing me to get a copy of the book, which is out on July 4, 2023.

Smart and charming. I loved the chemistry between Chandler and Finn. As always, Rachel Lynn Solomon writes with humour and relatability, without shying away from serious topics.

I full on adored this book. It's my first of Rachel Lynn Solomon's but it definitely won't be my last. I thought Chandler was a wonderful central character, strong but vulnerable, and I loved her and Finn's interactions from the beginning. He was also brilliant, such a gorgeous, generous-hearted hero, and I loved every scene they were together in, getting to know each other emotionally as well as physically. As a writer, I loved the exploration of writing and self-doubt especially, and the thought process that Chandler went through. I loved all the fandom stuff – it took me back to when I was obsessed with The X-Files and Supernatural, yearning to meet the actors at conventions I never made it to. I thought the mental health representation and exploration was excellent. And the central premise – the physical side of their relationship. It was so well written, with both of them being vulnerable in different ways, and it almost set my kindle on fire! A wonderful, tender love story with two main characters I completely adored, that's sweet and funny and so, so sexy. I feel so much love for these characters, and can't wait to read Rachel's earlier books.

Chandler, a professional ghostwriter who feels stuck in career rut, and Finn, an actor who's struggling to surpass his early TV success meet in a bookshop and hit it off. After an unsatisfactory one-night stand, they unintentionally end up seeing a lot of each other professionally, and Chandler jokingly offers to teach Finn lessons to improve his lovemaking...which he readily accepts!

This is an extremely sexy and sex-positive story about two people falling in love and helping each other over their various stumbling blocks, including career progression, coping with their mental illnesses, and how to make their relationship thrive in spite of distance.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this eARC of 'Business or Pleasure' by Rachel Lynn Solomon.

At first I didn't expect to love this book as much as I did. Rachel Lynn Solomon is a talent when it comes to writing but this has got to be her best book yet. The plot was beautiful and I ended up rooting for this romance so easily and I just overall loved this book so much. I definitely require my own copy of this beauty.

I was smiling throughout. This one like all her others was utterly perfect. I highly recommend this one if you are looking for a cute, swoony and delightful reading experience. You will not regret it.

Interesting to read a book where the leads don't automatically have the most amazing chemistry in bed and have the most amazing night ever.
The concept of how these two develop and are spending their time together is a nice take on the forced proximity and it is a balance to the ridiulous in that they will start on sex lessons. however, what it does do is show how two people can openly discuss and be honest about their likes and dislikes in the bedroom.
Unfortunately though I just didn't feel any exciting chemistry build up between these two. They didn't seem to develop in any one situation or to really delve in to the characters.
It's a pleasent read and the sexual communications are certainly refreshing but ultimately it isn't going to be everlasting in my memory of romance reads.

I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review
