I really enjoyed The Woman Who Lied. The description immediately grabbed me and the book did not disappoint. I thought it was so cleverly written with enough twists and turns to keep me guessing. I highly recommend it.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my ARC.

Great book.
Hooked from the beginning and couldn't put it down.
Kept sending me in the wrong direction, I was sure I knew what was happening, I didn't .
Very cleverly worked out.

Emilia Ward lives quietly in suburban London with her husband and two children. Just an ordinary wife and mother but also a bestselling crime writer. When she starts writing her tenth Detective Miranda Moody novel, however, life takes a frightening turn: an incident straight out of one of her novels occurs in real life. Just an unsettling coincidence, she thinks. Until it happens again and again. Then someone she knows dies exactly like a victim in the book she's still writing, a book which only a handful of her closest friends and family have read. She realises that it must be someone close to her who is responsible but who and why?

This was one of those books that you were locked in the minute you started it. I was gripped from beginning to end and as is generally the case with this genre I thought I had worked it all out and I was proved wrong!

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced read copy in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

I really enjoyed this latest book from Claire Douglas.
The plot was really good and everytime when you thought you had worked out who was causing Emilia all the stress and problems and who was the serial killer, the story would take you off in yet another direction.
Very cleverly written and I definitely recommend reading this book.

Thank you to Michael Joseph, Penguin Random House, the author and Netgalley for an ARC in return for an honest review.

Another great book by Claire Douglas. Fast paced, o literally gasped out loud which realisation at the end of part one.

I really liked Emilia as a character and by the end I had come to the same conclusions as she had! Well I was wrong!

The relationships she developed with her family were deep routed and trusting and I even liked the relationship she had with her Ex, Jonas, and his new wife (her ex friend).

A great crime thriller and something i wish I could read again!

I really enjoyed this and would definitely recommend

I was so excited to be able to read this book and knew It would be a book I would enjoy but it turned out to be a book I LOVED!! The whole plot was just so addictive, as soon as I read the description I knew it was going to good. Such a great concept that was delivered perfectly. It was a great pace, a great amount of untrustworthy characters, so many twists and turns. It really was gripping and had you questioning everybody throughout but what I loved the most about it was that it was a great balance of being creepy and mysterious. The things that happened to Emilia throughout were genuinely so creepy and the way they were all linked to her stories was so clever and engaging. Definitely a page turner with a really satisfying ending too

Emilia Ward is mum to teenager Jasmine from her previous marriage to Jonas and eight year old Wilfie from her present marriage to Elliott. Apart from being a mum she is the best selling author of the Miranda Moody novels and has just finished the first draft of her tenth novel in the series. When an incident occurs that also appears in her, as yet, largely unread novel Emilia is spooked but puts it down to coincidence, until it happens again, and when her friend dies in the same circumstances as her literary victim she knows it's more than a coincidence, but how do they know what she's written if they haven't seen the book, and what will happen next?

The Woman Who Lied is the latest psychological thriller by Douglas and, as always, she had me hooked from the prologue. This is a fast paced read with a well written plot and full of twists, it has some very unreliable characters and I loved the premise of a book within a book. We not only hear about the perplexing incidences facing Emilia but, at the same time, the small matter of the police having a serial killer to contend with, and having to figure out whether the two could be linked. I spent much of this story second guessing who the perpetrator was only to discover my first guess was in fact correct! Douglas has always been one of my go to authors where I don't even have to read the blurb because I know I'm going to love it, and this one was no exception. It's a truly compelling and intriguing read which I highly recommend.

I'd likely thank Michael Joseph Books and Netgalley for the approval, I will post my review on Goodreads now and Amazon on publication day.

Emilia is a crime fiction writer who is currently writing her latest book in her series when some of the fictional events from her past stories begin to happen around her, causing her to believe she has a stalker. When some of the events from her most recent book, which has yet to be published, begin to happen too she believes that someone very close to her is responsible. This tale of a possible serial killer, who has perhaps began to kill again, had me in suspense from the very beginning. Who could the killer be…was is Emilia’s beloved husband, his father, or even the second wife of her ex-husband? It certainly kept me guessing and I couldn’t wait to reach the end to discover the truth. Excellent story!

The Woman Who Lied is a decent domestic/mystery thriller.
Emilia is the main character she’s lucky to have found love again and remarried after her ex cheated on her with her best friend and somehow all get along just about for the sake of their shared son. Emilia is the author of Miranda Moody a series of books she has written. Emilia has just finished number ten and has handed it to her publisher and a few close friends and family. Emilia is shocked to realise when a few strange things happen that are from her previous books, is it a fan or something more sinister? Who is doing these things and how are they getting so close to her home to do them?
This book is a book within a book and is very different from what I have read before. I didn’t get the culprit until three quarters of the way through which was a bonus, but I had gone round the houses!! There are lots of twists in this book and red herrings to keep you interested along the way. I still think I prefer the couple at number 9 that I have read by this author last year but it’s a very close runner up and can’t wait for the next one to read.
I would like to thank Netgalley and Michael Joseph, Penguin Random House for this ARC I received in exchange for an honest review.

The Couple at No 9 was one of my best reads last year so I was thrilled when I managed to get my hands on an advanced copy of the woman who lied.
This is another fantastic thriller, possibly better than The Couple at No 9! The story follows bestselling crime writer Emilia Ward whose life takes a frightening turn when events straight out of one of her novels start taking place in real life .
Thanks to NetGalley and Michael Joseph, Penguin Random House for an advanced copy of this gripping novel.

If you're looking for a gripping domestic thriller, you can always rely on Claire Douglas and The Woman Who Lied is another absolute cracker!

With a fast pace, this one had me hooked early on, and the tension remained high throughout. I absolutely loved the concept of somebody copying the events of Emilia's crime books, adding a lot of mystery and making you question everybody around her.

Douglas always writes such strong characters, and it is because of how well they are developed that you follow their stories with so much apprehension. There are lots of great twists and clever curveballs in this one, some that I definitely wasn't expecting to creep up on me, with the different points of view bringing the pieces of the jigsaw slowly back together.

I always Douglas' books so addictively entertaining, and can always recommend her books for a satisfying thriller. The Woman Who Lied is definitely another winner, so make sure you add this one to your wishlist!

The Woman Who Lied is an entertaining novel about Emilia, a writer who lives in London with her husband and kids. Her popular Detective series is about to end, as Emilia has decided to kill off the main character, but before it goes to print, creepy things start happening – and she realises they are all occurrences from her series! Things become very serious when someone she knows is killed in the same way as in one of her books! When things start to happen from her most recent, as-yet-unpublished book, she realises it must be someone she knows…

There are plenty of twists in The Woman Who Lied, which I’ve come to expect from novels by Claire Douglas, and the characters are convincing. I liked Emilia, though some of her decisions could be dubious, and the supporting characters add extra seeds of doubt for Emilia as we’re never sure who she can really trust. The story feels like it takes a bit longer to get into than her other books, but I think that only builds the tension which ramps up as Emilia starts to suspect everyone around her, and I loved the element of a book within a book.

I enjoyed The Woman Who Lied – it’s a solid, tightly-plotted thriller and I would expect no less from this author.

Oooo a book about an author whose latest detective novel is being played out in front of her... what's not to love. And I did!
Emilia is the best selling author of the Miranda Moody series of books. She lives with husband and two children (one hers, the other theirs) in a normal house in a normal place. She has just finished the 10th book of the series and has made the scary decision to make it the last. She has only just submitted it, after a few close family and friends have read it.
So she is shocked to say the least when things she has written in her books start playing out in real life. To and around her and her family. It starts with a few things from her early novels but swiftly spirals to include things from book 10. As yet unpublished. At first she thinks coincidence but as things escalate she is forced to wonder who in her close inner circle could be doing this...?
I love this author's books. I think I only have one missing from her back catalogue but will definitely remedy that as soon as. There is something about her style of writing that really fits with me. That and her plots and characters. The complete package. She also writes in a no nonsense way, her plots being enough to stand the whole book up without the need for further waffle or padding. Pacing is always spot on, fitting the narrative as it goes. And the endings always leave me satisfied.
And this book is no exception to all that. The curve balls, twists and turns included herein are somewhat very satisfying once discovered too. But I will leave you to work out what is going on in the multiple threads that surround the main plot for yourself.
All in all, another winner from an already favourite author... roll on next time! My thanks got to the Publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book.

I was lucky enough to receive an early copy of this beauty, it’s out 6 July!

Emilia Ward is an author of a very popular crime series. She lives a quiet life with her family until events start unfolding, incidents from her crime series become real life and Emilia soon realises she is being targeted but why and who would want to target her?

This book grabs your attention quickly! From the moment I started it, I just wanted to keep reading. It’s written so well, very cleverly plotted with so many twists and turns.

Claire Douglas has done it again ! I was hooked from the first page.
Emilia is a best selling author and on the surface she has the perfect life a loving husband and two children..
Her life hasn’t always run smoothly her first husband was a cheat and married one of her best friends .
Emilia writes crime fiction and she has come to a decision to kill off her main character Detective Miranda Moody .
A draft of the final novel is sent to her agent and also to close family and friends, and then strange things start to happen .
Someone starts to use parts of Emilia’s novels to turn her world upside down.
She begins to trust no one and this impacts on her home life and her life begins to unravel.
The characters are written perfectly and the story is fast paced and certainly had me gripped and I didn’t expect the twist at the end.
A great read !
Run don’t walk to the book shop to purchase this , you won’t be disappointed!
Thanks to NetGalley and Michael Joseph.

I did like the sound of the blurb for this book, it sounded like a book that I would really enjoy.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t for me. I found there were too many characters and the book felt incredibly drawn out to me.

Such a shame as the premise of the book was appealing.

I did give 3 stars as I know the amount of blood, sweat and tears the author would have put into it. I’m just sorry that it didn’t work for me.

I used to love Claire Douglas - I would automatically preorder any book she released but her last couple of books have left me really disappointed. I just haven't loved them like I used to.
I found the pacing of this book to be really slow, and I just didn't have the drive to pick up the book once I put it down.
Maybe, it's a case of right book - wrong time. I just wasn't into it. Might try the audiobook to see if it engrosses me more.

This is a great mystery thriller.
Emilia writes crime novels and is considering bringing the series to an end. She shares the last book with those closest to her but soon other books in the series are in the spotlight as some events take place that have happened in the books.
Emilia becomes more and more worried and when it affects those around her she asks the Police for help.
When someone she knows is murdered the Police push the investigation forward but don’t seem to know who the person is that is carrying out these crimes.
This is a gripping thriller that I really enjoyed.
Thanks to Michael Joseph Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.
