A great unique premise but I did find this a real slow burner, when it did finally get going it was a good read but it just took long for me to get into it.
It really does make you think about and question the power and influence certain roles such as interpreters can have.

This was an interesting story about a interpreter who deliberately makes a mistake over words in a couple of trials she interprets for. She is then stalked by by the relative in one of the cases. Dramatic conclusion with a debatable result.

This book was ok. I found it to be lacking in some areas. It was a very slow burner. I did enjoy it but it didn’t wow me

Although the premise for this book was original and interesting, I found the story very slow to get started and it was difficult to keep focussed. When the story did eventually start to take off and become more compelling it was suddenly wound up neatly very quickly. and with all loose ends tied up.
Many thanks to Netgalley/Brooke Robinson/Random House UK for a digital copy of this title. All opinions expressed are my own.

Loved this book. Great psychological thriller with a difference. The premise for this book is so unique, giving a great backdrop to the story. It is definitely an adrenaline fuelled read with some intensity as you follow the Interpreters chaotic life, not sure who is after her or why.

This book was way too slow for me. It had the potential to be brillant. When it going finally it was great.

Thank you to #NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read and ARC of #TheInterpreter. Thank you to #NetGalley, Brooke Robinson and Random House UK, Vintage.

The book's premise caught my attention right away, it sounded original and complex. Revelle, the protagonist, is an interpreter with an extraordinary talent for languages, which she developed during her nomadic childhood with her mother.

Her work often involves court cases, and here's where things get interesting. She grapples with a moral dilemma - should she translate accurately or manipulate the translation to achieve the desired outcome?

Amidst her professional challenges, Revelle is going through the process of adopting a child. However, some poor choices at work threaten her chances of making this dream a reality. And to add to her troubles, threatening messages start to arrive, further complicating her life.

With such a promising setup, I had high hopes for an engaging story, but unfortunately, it fell short for me. The book had a few too many vague elements in the details, leaving me wanting more clarity. Moreover, the ending left me unsatisfied, which was a letdown after all the build-up.

All in all, it was a decent read, earning a three-star rating from me. The potential was there, but the execution lacked the impact I was hoping for.

I loved this court room thriller with its unique premise - the power that is held by the interpreter can be the deciding element between freedom and prison for the person on trial. Absolutely brilliant!

First time I have read a book about an interpreter and was looking forward to it after reading the blog
The story plot is good
I just unfortunately found it confusing at times wasn't sure if I was missing something, think it had a lot of potential
This book wasn't what I thought it would be, I did complete it but couldn't get on with it

Thank you netgalley, Brooke Robinson and Random House - UK Vintage Digital

I didn’t enjoy this one unfortunately. The blurb sounded good but it was hard to get interested in Ravelle’s work despite it seeming like an exciting role. The story plodded along and certainly didn’t thrill. It started off well and then slowly just dropped off which was such a disappointment. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of the book.

A great, unique thriller. It was fascinating learning about the career of an interpreter. Revelle speaks 10 languages and is often called into court to interpret. One day she feels too connected to a case and believes a guilty man will go free. She changes just one word which completely changes the verdict. This leads to a story of regret and revenge. A really great read.

This book had a really intriguing plot & the concept of the story sounded good which is why I chose to read it.
This was more of a slow burner for me but stick with it as it does come through at the end.
Revelle has a job as an interpreter working for the courts & social services.
As an interpreter it would be quite easy to misinterpret what someone has said by mistake.
For that matter it would also be open to purposefully affecting the outcome of a verdict.
This was an interesting & quite a clever idea for a storyline that was well worth reading.

The main protagonist is an interpreter going through the process of adopting a young boy. But things are not going smoothly, indeed it feels rather like she is losing her grip on reality.
Really mixed feelings about this book. I had high hopes for it when I read its description but felt a little let down by the reality. There were elements of intrigue - but there were many bits which just felt a bit unreal (the ten languages picked up almost instantaneously as a child and all retained to such a level the main protagonist could fluently translate any of them just weren't believable for me). Somewhere between a 3 and a 31/2* for me

It was the world of interpreting that made me choose this novel. It's a topic I haven’t come across before (well maybe apart from the Nicole Kidman film). It is set in Londons criminal and justice system where misinterpreting a single word can make a big of difference to the statement being said.

To turn this premise into a story is an wonderful idea, but I did feel there was something lacking from the narrative which I can't quite put my finger on.

I received this book from netgalley in return for a honest review.

i was not sure about this when i started it.
i kept going and by chapter 2 and a bit i was pulled in. i am glad that i kept reading because it turned out to be a great read. there were some real moments that had my heart racing.
Revelle is a bit anxious and sometimes it is slightly too much but after a bit you realise why she is so jittery.
As you read more about her the more you like her but there are some questionable things at times that you think aww maybe i have trusted her too soon.

For a first book, this was fantastic and a credit to her! Loved the characters and the concept of the story. I look forward to her next book.
